At Cofely Refrigeration, we take great pleasure in providing our customers with an extensive range of products for their refrigeration needs that are designed to achieve both economic and environmental goals. We are very aware of the fact that rising energy prices and increasingly stringent environmental regulations are already creating high demand for intelligent solutions in today s world. We are taking further steps towards sustainable refrigeration by introducing our new products. The QUANTUM G with ecofriendly refrigerant R1234ze (GWP value below 1) combines all of the benefits of the proven and very efficient QUANTUM technology with additional features for sustainability. The AMONUM, which is built into a container, fulfils all of the relevant regulations for an engine room and provides the operator with yet more safety and protection. Cofely Refrigeration doesn t just focus on technology, but also on the people who operate it. We provide training and teach the necessary skills, whilst our modular maintenance concept provides a service which meets your individual needs as a customer. 3 COFELY REFRIGERATION AND ARCHIMEDES MAKING DATA CENTRES EFFICIENT AND SECURE: REFERENCES 05 A TEAM FOR COOL CALCULATIONS It s every data centre operator s nightmare: the air-conditioning system breaks down, the sensitive electronic components overheat and IT systems stop working. You can forget about meeting the Service Level Agreement and the customers are not at all pleased. To avoid such a horror scenario ever occurring, planners and operators of data centres need to be able to count on a completely reliable partner to provide refrigeration solutions. SECURITY, AVAILABILITY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY If you are a data centre operator who does not want to compromise on security, then rising energy costs mean that sooner or later it will be necessary to optimise the infrastructure in the data centre - and not just with the redundancy of the refrigeration supply in mind, but above all, the aspects relating to energy efficiency above all. OUTSTANDING REFRIGERATION EXPERTISE A data centre operator and IT service provider from east Westphalia decided to commission Archimedes Facility- Management GmbH with the task of developing such an efficient and secure refrigeration solution. The primary focus of the energy-saving concept were the energy costs for the refrigeration units in use, the pumps on the cold water circuit and the electrical output of the air-conditioning cabinets. DOUBLE THE SECURITY COOLS FOR LONGER A modern data centre cannot escape the fact that redundancy protects against outages. Both of the IT service provider s QUANTUM chillers are not just set up in a redundant manner, but can also work autonomously for up to 24 hours if required due to a newly-installed emergency generator with 250 kilovolt-ampere (kva). The various improvements to security don t just improve the availability of refrigeration, but the whole data centre as well. OPTIMUM REFRIGERATION - NO MATTER THE TEMPERATURE Cofely Refrigeration provided two water-cooled QUANTUM chillers in a redundant layout for the modernisation project, each with an output of 440 kilowatts (kw) featuring innovative centrifugal compressor technology with oil-free magnetic bearings. These replaced two chillers with outputs of 130kW and 160kW. These were not set up in a redundant layout and had an EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) value of approximately 3.3. The data centre operator from east Westphalia was able to improve its EER value to approximately 4.5 and profit from energy savings of about 20 per cent with the new chillers. The flow and return flow temperatures were adjusted from 6 C and 12 C to 12 C and 18 C respectively. In addition, the wear-free magnetic bearing in QUANTUM chillers plays a part in considerably reducing maintenance costs. As well as an energy-optimised method of operation, the new QUANTUM chillers offer an additional benefit: they are suitable for efficient use with free cooling. At an ambient temperature of approx. 14 C or below, the compressor performance of both machines is gradually reduced as both re-cooling systems use the cooler ambient air in the data centre to directly cool the temperature of the cold water circuit. This mixed operation of free cooling and the chiller further increases energy efficiency of the data centre. If the ambient temperature falls to 11 C or below, then completely free cooling takes place without the compressors being used. Controlling of re-cooling systems with QUANTUM chillers was also set up by Cofely Refrigeration.

4 PRODUCTS 07 GREEN REFRIGERATION FOR LOWER COSTS AND REDUCED CO 2 EMISSIONS: QUANTUM TECHNOLOGY FROM COFELY REFRIGERATION ENHANCED WITH THE QUANTUM G GREEN REFRIGERATION FOR AN ECO-FRIENDLY FUTURE Cofely Refrigeration has responded to the increasing demand for refrigeration solutions using sustainable refrigerants and added the QUANTUM G to its well-established QUANTUM series. The green chiller uses ecofriendly refrigerant R1234ze whose GWP value (Global Warming Potential) is below 1 and offers a performance of up to 1.1 megawatt. In conjunction with the oil-free centrifugal compressor, the R1234ze has excellent efficiency ratings. Just like all QUANTUM centrifugal liquid chillers, the QUANTUM G is based on an innovative compressor concept with oil-free bearings and excels due to its high level of energy efficiency, fail safe and quiet mode of operation, along with electromagnetic tolerance. All of these factors make it incredibly versatile. In addition, operators also benefit from minimal operating and maintenance costs. ADDITIONAL FEATURES OF THE QUANTUM G: Optional open flash economiser for optimal customisation to customer requirements and increased energy efficiency Can be used as a heat pump Can be used in heat recovery SAVE UP TO 83% ON COSTS AND 90% CO 2 Thanks to the energy efficient and eco-friendly operation of the centrifugal liquid chiller, QUANTUM, a large number of customers in different industries have received subsidies over the last four years from the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA). By using the QUANTUM, they were able to realise energy and cost savings of up to 83%, and reduced their CO 2 emissions by more than 90% during the year. In total, annual energy savings for all subsidised companies totalled approximately 30 gigawatt hours (GWh). In addition, they were also able to reduce general CO 2 emissions by almost 21,000 tonnes a year, enabling customers to generate cost savings of approximately 50% on average. Moreover, many QUANTUM customers also received financial support from BAFA. TONNES OF CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS, TONNES OF SAVINGS POTENTIAL QUANTUM chillers are high achievers: they can be used in industrial refrigeration and building technology to provide air-conditioning for office buildings, data centres or shopping centres, as well as insurance companies, banks, hospitals and universities. Customers in the food, plastics and injection moulding industries achieved the highest energy and emission savings. For example, the food companies that were studied lowered their energy consumption by a total of 6.0 GWh/a between 2009 and This number increased to 8.3 GWh/a for companies in the plastics and injection moulding industry. In total, CO 2 emissions were reduced by approx. 3,200 and 5,600 tonnes respectively per year. Energy efficient refrigeration concepts with QUANTUM are even an absolute success in banks: a total of nine companies from the banking sector saved around 3.8 GWh/a of energy together and lowered their CO 2 emissions by about 3,300 tonnes per annum. The marked reduction in energy consumption and CO 2 emissions also led to significantly lower operating costs in all industries. The demand for energy efficient and sustainable refrigeration solutions continues to increase. The QUANTUM technology from Cofely Refrigeration already fulfils tomorrow s requirements: a QUANTUM chiller operates in a particularly energy efficient manner, produces less CO 2 in comparison to similar units, only generates low operating costs and can withstand all of the requirements involved with seasonal refrigeration and air-conditioning technology. The QUANTUM G is expected to be available from Autumn 2014.

5 SUSTAINABILITY 09 AMONUM IN A CONTAINER SATISFIES THE STRICTEST SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: NATURALLY COOLING WITH PIECE OF MIND The advantages of using ammonia as a refrigerant have mostly been seen in larger systems of industrial refrigeration up until now. The AMONUM from Cofely Refrigeration is now the first ammonia chiller available for a power range of up to 250kW. Of particular interest for the operator is the fact that AMONUM chillers have an extremely compact design and come fully assembled. This means that assembly costs are kept to a minimum and the installation is simple. The AMONUM is suitable for both external and internal installation and can be used anywhere due to the low amount of refrigerant needed (less than 10kg). This makes it ideal for planners to integrate the AMONUM into new construction projects or refit existing systems with the AMONUM. The applications range from brine applications up to -20 C as well as process cooling and air-conditioning up to +17 C. Heat recovery is possible up to a condensation temperature of 55. The AMONUM works with a speed-controlled piston compressor in conjunction with a cylinder bank shutdown. This combination ensures that the performance is optimally adjusted to fit the cooling requirements. INCREDIBLY SAFE AND IMMEDIATELY READY FOR OPERATION: AMONUM IN A CONTAINER An environmentally friendly chiller, intelligently packaged: integrated in a container, AMONUM is delivered already meeting all of the safety requirements in accordance with DIN EN 378 which are required for using the refrigerant ammonia, along with safety features such as a gas alarm system and escape route markings. The time and effort required for this by the operator therefore dramatically reduces. The container acts as a heated and lit machine room and also serves as a sub-base for the re-cooling process. In addition, the AMONUM only requires a very small installation space due to its compact design. As a result of this, the container and the integrated chiller can be installed taking into account on-site conditions and can be easily and quickly relocated if space requirements change. The container itself can serve as transport packaging, which offers the integrated system effective protection against environmental influences. To guarantee safe handling of the chiller, Cofely Refrigeration can also train service and operator personnel on request.

6 Modern, modular And transparent: TRENDS 11 REVOLUTIONARY SERVICE FOR REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS The greater the complexity of the systems, the more significant the role of the service personnel s expertise becomes when carrying out maintenance, the stricter the legal conditions and requirements become, with particular emphasis on environment protection, and the greater the cost becomes of meeting every single obligation as an operator. This is due to proper maintenance and safe, efficient operation of a refrigeration system all being closely interlinked with each other MODULAR MAINTENANCE IS UNIQUE Cofely Refrigeration has developed a unique modular maintenance system for chillers that has been designed in such a way that has never been seen before. This method of modular maintenance fulfils all of the latest requirements that are demanded in order to provide safe and efficient operation of refrigeration systems. The service spectrum made up of 26 modules ensures high transparency and meets all operational obligations. Particular emphasis is given to individuality as the maintenance package that can be put together in line with the specific customer requirements are always tailored to their needs and come with a great deal of flexibility. What this means specifically is that modular maintenance from Cofely Refrigeration provides outstanding value for money. With systems becoming more and more advanced in terms of the technology they use, the level of maintenance expertise available represents an increasingly important factor when making a decision. The high availability, long life time and a sustainable energy efficient operation of a system can only be realised with thorough and attentive maintenance. Even if machines and systems are advertised with the advantage of being low-maintenance, this does not release the operator from his duty to maintain them. Cofely Refrigeration takes over this duty as a reliable and trustworthy partner for its customers. MORE THAN SIMPLY JUST OPERATING CORRECTLY Nowadays, it is no longer enough for a refrigeration system to be kept running using mechanical skills. Systematic maintenance goes far beyond looking after the pure functionality of the system and is very effective at supporting operators to fulfil their obligations. This is where the safety of people and the environment forms the main focus for legislators. Cofely Refrigeration goes further still and has expanded its specifications for modern maintenance work by including aspects such as economic value and efficiency of the present system. HIGH REQUIREMENTS, TRANSPARENT SERVICE SPECTRUM In the past, it was often be acceptable to have a basic qualification in mechanics. Today, however, service technicians without any additional certified qualifications won t get very far. The extent of the maintenance provided in conventional maintenance contracts is usually only defined in a limited passage such as annual maintenance according to DIN / EN and VDMA The contractual rules and regulations would take up a far greater space. In today s world, clear definitions must be given about how the components of the service correspond to the various legal requirements and how the operator is to be supported in fulfilling his obligations. Even complete and traceable documentation regarding the maintenance work carried out forms an important operator obligation which has been concisely documented by the legislative authority in the Industrial Safety Regulations. GUARANTEED SMOOTH OPERATION Modern and systematic maintenance consists of a considerable amount of expertise being passed on to the operator so that he can work safely, efficiently and in accordance with laws whilst also preserving the value of the chillers and refrigeration systems. This is often based on a maintenance contract with an availability guarantee. When entering into such a contract, the operator is guaranteed that their system will be available up to 99.5% of the time within a period of a year. If this guarantee is not met, the customer is entitled to receive a refund for a proportion of the maintenance cost. Of course, an all-round care-free package with such a guarantee comes at a price. Balancing the cost in relation to the services provided is a challenging job for colleagues in the service and sales departments. The time spent on-site (and therefore the cost) can be reduced using the latest remote monitoring systems. Remote monitoring and remote maintenance are increasingly becoming a standard component when it comes to maintenance provision. Not least because their use can reveal the causes of malfunctions via electronic means and preventative actions can be taken.

As a result, there is now an even wider range of wet cooling towers with open circuits and two completely new series of re-cooling systems comprising wet cooling towers with closed cooling circuits and dual re-cooling systems. RE-COOLING SYSTEMS FROM COFELY REFRIGERATION. WE OFFER VENTUM RE-COOLING SYSTEMS IN OPEN, CLOSED AND ADIABATIC DESIGNS. THE ALL-ROUNDERS FOR EVERY SITUATION HAVE A WIDE PERFORMANCE RANGE, A LONG SERIVCE LIFE AND OPTIMAL USE OF ENERGIES. LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION. THEY ALSO LOOK PRETTY GOOD TOO. RESOURCE-FRIENDLY RE-COOLING SYSTEMS WITH CLOSED CIRCUIT The two new cooling tower series with closed cooling circuits have a stainless steel, corrosion-resistant housing. The EWF-D cooling tower provides a performance of up to 1,000 kilowatts (kw) per cooling tower cell, which can be increased further by means of using additional cells. The re-cooler cools the process liquid with the help of a heat exchanger that is integrated into the cooling tower. In addition, purely dry operation is also possible during winter. Cofely Refrigeration is now also offering a dual re-cooling system that is particularly suited for situations in which ambient air temperature is subject to considerable fluctuations. While it discharges heat into the ambient air via the temperature difference in the winter (dry cooling), the cooling tower uses the evaporation heat of the sprayed water in the summer (adiabatic cooling). In this context, the spray water volume can be automatically optimised using the control unit that is integrated into the control cabinet. ECONOMICAL RE-COOLING SYSTEMS WITH OPEN CIRCUIT The proven and tested wet cooling tower series with open circuits is being expanded with a cooling tower with a glass-fibre reinforced polyester and a cooling tower with a stainless steel housing. All re-cooling systems in these series can be used in a variety of application areas due to their different sizes and capacity levels. The cooling tower made with glass-fibre reinforced polyester works in a particularly energy efficient manner and can use around 40% less electricity due to an optimised ventilation and motor unit. A special feature of the re-cooler made from stainless steel is its small space requirement. This makes it possible to adapt the system to specific spatial conditions in a very flexible manner. The cooling tower is pressurised and provides a performance of up to 1,300kW per cooling tower cell, which can be modularly increased in rows and, as a result, can be adapted very easily to meet future refrigeration needs.
