Problem solving using Java Total 30 Student is required to solve programming problems based on all concepts covered in theory throughout the year and maintain a record of these in the practical file. Student will be given a problem to be solved using Java during final practical examination to be conducted at the end of the academic session.. SQL Queries Students will be practicing SQL queries in MySQL throughout the year alongwith course coverage in theory. Student will be asked to write four queries based on one or two tables during final practical examination to be conducted at the end of the academic session 3. Practical Record File A practical record file is required to be created during the entire academic session. It should be duly signed by the concerned teacher on regular basis and is to be produced at the time of Final Practical Examination for evaluation. It should include the following : At least 1 solutions of simple problems using IDE based Java (refer to Appendices A & B ) Network Configuration and open source software used in your school. Solution of at least simple problems incorporating Java Application & Database connectivity At least 4 SQL queries based on one and/or two tables At least two web pages using HTML 4. Project File Students in group of -3 are required to work collaboratively to develop a project using Programming and Database skills learnt during the course. The project should be an application in any one of the domains e-governance, e-business and e-learning - with GUI front-end and corresponding database at the back-end. 5. Viva Voce Students will be asked oral questions during practical examination to be conducted at the end of the course. The questions will be from the entire course covered in the academic session

Marks : 70 General Instructions : Marking scheme is the final document for all references with regard to evaluation and cannot be altered under any circumstances. The answers given in the marking scheme are SUGGESTIVE, Examiners are requested to award marks for all alternative correct Solutions/Answers conveying the similar meaning. All programming questions have to be answered with respect to Java Language only. In Java, ignore case sensitivity for identifiers (Variables/Functions/Structures/Class Names). In SQL related questions : a. Both ways of text/character entries should be acceptable. For example: AMAR and amar both are acceptable. b. All date entries should be acceptable for example: YYYY-MM-DD, YY-MM-DD DD-Mon-YY DD/MM/YY DD/MM/YY MM/DD/YY MM/DD/YY and {MM/DD/YY} are correct. c. Semicolon should be ignored for terminating the SQL statements. d. Ignore case sensitivity for commands. e. Ignore headers in output questions. Advantages of Open Source software over Proprietary software : Free to use, distribute and modify Nodependence on the developer for updates, support and fixes. It is an open source RDBMS software. It is available free of cost. (1 mark for any correct answer) (b) Is NULL value the same as 0 (zero)? Write the reason for your answer. 1 No. Reason : NULL is used to mean that the field has no value or unknown value. 0 is a numeric value. (½ mark for stating NO) (½ mark for any correct reason)

( marks for stating any correct difference) ( marks for only defining Primary Key constraint) Write one similarity and one difference between CHAR and VARCHAR data types. Similarity : Both are used for storing non-numeric data. Both can store 1 to 55 characters. Values must be enclosed in single quotes or double quotes.
