1 How to obtain the correct Alert Manager defaults SMS tab field s values Where can you view the correct values for the fields on the Alert Manager Maintenance Defaults SMS tab and why are these so important? Solution The above fields are critical when sending SMSs as these values are validated against the site where the SMS bundles are purchased from. The following procedures discuss how to register and purchase SMS bundles and from where you can view the values for the above fields. Go to sms.pastel.co.za Select the Register to Buy or Try link as can be seen below. Also take note of the Existing Customers section (which uses the same values as you would enter above) below where previously registered customer can logon when new SMS bundles need to be purchased.

2 1. Select the SMS button below to purchase a bundle. 2. Enter your company details and click the Next button below. 3. Complete the User Details and click on Add User button below. 4. All the fields will then become empty.

3 5. Select the Next button below. 6. The registration process has now been completed and a mail will automatically be sent to the address as specified on the registration wizard. Take note on the screen below that the Company ID and Login Name values, as well as the password specified on the registration wizard, can be viewed on the Alert Manager Maintenance Defaults SMS tab. 4 One possible explanation, besides the agent not having access permission, could be because of the following scenario: The GRV was created in the Inventory module and the agent opened the Purchase Order Maintenance screen and searched for the relevant GRV, expecting to be able to delete it. This was not permitted as any source document has to be deleted in the module where it was created. The same applies to Inventory Invoices and Sales Order Invoices. Alert Manager not sending s You might not be able to send s out of the Alert Manager module. Solution Consider the following PC environmental factors: Alert Manager requires the following configuration: 1. SMTP with 32 Bit OS. 2. SMTP with 64 Bit OS. 3. MAPI with 32 Bit OS and 32 Bit Outlook but: s needs to be sent manually by selecting the Send button, as the Alert Manager service is not able to access the MAPI component. 4. MAPI with 64 Bit OS and 32 Bit Outlook but: s needs to be sent manually by selecting the Send button, as the Alert Manager service is not able to access the MAPI component. It will not work with the following configuration: 5. MAPI with 64 Bit OS and 64 Bit Outlook. Also ensure the following is in place: 6. In the installed Sage Evolution folder, open the AP subfolder and double click the EvolutionAMServiceManager.exe file.

5 7. The screen below will open. If not installed, select the Install button. 8. Select OK. 9. When done, this is how it should look. 10. It may help to restart the PC, and to re-open the above to ensure it is still running. 11. Then try to again out of Sage Evolution Alert Manager. Unhandled exception has occurred The following Cash Manager error message may be received as the module is opening:

6 Solution Complete the following steps to resolve this error: 1. Uninstall the current Cash Manager installation and restart the PC. 2. Then install the one as found on the S: drive pasjhbsvevo \ D: drive\backup CRITICAL\EVOLUTION\FIXES\MODULES AND OTHER\CASH MANAGER\CASH MANAGER FIX. The conversion of a varchar data type When converting a Pastel Partner company to Sage Evolution the following error message may be received. Solution On the PC where the conversion is run, on the Regional Options Additional Settings Date tab there might be commas in the Long date field as can be seen below: 1. Delete all the commas in the above mentioned field and change your Short date field to yyyy/mm/dd (dd/mm/yyyy might also work but on yyyy/mm/dd my conversion worked fine). 2. Then convert again.
