1 Contents Contents... 1 Introduction... 1 Preferences... 1 Software Download... 1 Verification Protocol... 5 Problems... 5 Background Information... 5 This document describes how to make a simple and secure check of electronically signed PDF invoices from Anton Paar GmbH. Unfortunately the installation process of the software is only available in German. The language of the software itself can be changed to English, as described in this tutorial. Introduction In the past, Anton Paar GmbH recommended using Adobe Reader Version 8 to check the signatures on its invoices. The certificates had to be read in Adobe Reader to check the validity of their qualified signatures. Following organizational changes at our signature manufacturer (D-Trust), Anton Paar invoices can no longer be checked directly by Adobe Reader (for more information about the reasons, see the chapter Background Information ). Anton Paar GmbH has worked with D-Trust GmbH to find a way to check Anton Paar invoices simply and with the required degree of security. This is possible using the DigiSeal Reader software (provided by D- Trust). By installing the software you no longer have to update the certificates for checking. With just one click you can create a report on the validity of the signature. This document describes the procedure for checking invoices in the future (after ). Preferences PC with at least Windows 98 (and newer) Available Internet Connection Software Download The software you need to check electronic invoices from Anton Paar can be downloaded from D-Trust here: Click on setup_digiseal_reader.zip and save the file in the location you prefer. Open the zipped version of the setup and start the file: setup_digiseal_reader.exe A setup wizard takes you through the installation procedure: Seite 1 von 5

2 Click Weiter two times and accept the terms and conditions for using the software: Accept the default location or select another location for saving the file. Confirm with Weiter. The installation is now carried out. In the menu Start Programs you will see a new software: digiseal reader 3. Start this program and use it in future to check Anton Paar invoices for valid signatures. Seite 2 von 5

3 To change the language of the software to English, go through the menu Optionen Sprachen Englisch. From now on, all dialogs and menues appear in english. Click on File Open and Verify and open the Anton Paar invoice in the subsequent dialog. Seite 3 von 5

4 Several parameters in the invoice will automatically be checked. If the invoice is not from Anton Paar GmbH or has been changed in any way, you will be informed in the status report. If the invoice is in order, the following message will appear on the screen. The three green check marks show the validity of the invoice: Seite 4 von 5

5 Verification Protocol You also have the option to press Generate Protocol and create a verification report. This is automatically saved in a directory within the DigiSeal program. In the program you can change this location with Options General Settings in the tab signature Verification : Problems If a problem occurs with the invoice or when using the software, contact the invoice sender directly. The problem will be sent to relevant department and a technician will contact you. Background Information This is the background information from D-Trust: Dear customer, Due to organizational changes at D-TRUST the company now has a new ZDA manager. According to German law, we are now obligated to exchange the signature cards in our root certificates. For this purpose, the system will be taken offline, the cards will be exchanged and the system will be put back online. You will no longer receive an error message when checking the certificates using the chain model. If you check the certificate using the shell model, you will probably receive the message invalid. This is not a true error message, the certificates are still valid. Unfortunately, the frequently used Adobe Reader uses the above-mentioned shell model and is therefore no longer capable of checking Anton Paar signatures. In sum, checking the signatures using the DigiSeal software has great benefits: no more time-consuming updating of certificates, and the reports on the validity of the signatures can be saved.
