1 Online Admissions Frequently Asked Question (FAQ s) 1. Which browser should I use to access the AKU online portal? To open our online admission page we recommend that you use the Internet Explorer browser for best results; you may use Google Chrome or Firefox as well. 2. How do I login to online portal? To logon to our website; go to This will take you to the Aga Khan University (AKU) Login page. 3. What are the steps I should use to fill online application form? Briefly, you must follow the instructions and hints on each page before going to the next. Doing this will ensure that the information required on a page is complete in all respects. We recommend that you first review the relevant admission eligibility requirements for the programme you are applying to before you complete the online application. Where should I write for help in case I am not able to access the application form or need to ask a question? You should the online administrator at online.application@aku.edu 5. If I am applying for the first time what should I do? As a first time user, to register yourself, you should click on the new user hyperlink then enter your address and password. 6. If I have applied last year, do I need to fill out the applications form?.what should I do? On the login page, you should click on the tab that reads: already a user and register yourself. You will be required to enter all the information. 7. If I do not have address, can I register online? No. in order to register, you must have an ID. You should create one before going online to fill in the application form. Remember, make a note of the address and the password so you don t forget. All future correspondence will be sent to this address. NOTE: The address should be the one you will use through the admission process. i.e. to complete the online application form and to access information about your application status during the admission process. 8. What password I should use while creating online application? It is your choice. You may your Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo password, or you may create another password for the online portal. 9. What should my password be like? Is there a character limit? For security reasons, the password should be at the minimum 7 characters including one special character ($ %) and one numeric character ( ). Karachi$12 is an example. 2 10. How do I make sure that I am registered with AKU? You will receive a registration confirmation at your address. If you have not received this within a few minutes of registering, please check your Spam/Junk folder. In case this is not received, please write to us at online.application@aku.edu 11. Can I apply for more than one programme? Yes. You may apply for as many programmes as you want, provided you are eligible for them. For each of the programmes you wish to apply, you must create one application. Remember: you must apply to all these programmes through one account. So Create Only One Account using one address. 12. Is there anything I need to be careful about to avoid mistakes in the process of completing my online application? Yes. You must follow the instructions given and read carefully the prompt warnings the system will give you as you move along the pages. If you do this, you should have an error free application. Examples are being provided to you under section 13. If you wish to apply for more than one programme, you must complete the online application requirements for one programme first. Then log on again by going to the first screen and click on the tab that reads: already a user and complete the application requirements for another programme. Be very careful when creating an application. Remember, an application once created, cannot be deleted. After you complete a qualification click save & finish. When you do this; a grid will appear at the bottom. You must always remember to check the grid at the bottom of the page to ensure accuracy of your information. Only complete the pages that are applicable to the programme for which you are applying. 13. How do I create my personal information Page? And what do I need to do to move forward? Please follow the following steps: i. Go to your confirmation - sent to your account; click on the link provided; this will take you to the login screen; ii. Enter your ID and password; the same ID and password which you entered at your first log in; iii. The following page requesting for your personal details and current contact details will open: Page 2 of 6

When you click save: you will move on to the next page: The header will be New Application This page allows you to choose the programme/programmes for which you want to submit an application in the country w ere it is offered. After choosing your programme when you click at the tab below create application the system will give you a prompt warning: see below. Only if you are sure about your choice, say Yes. Remember: an application once created cannot be deleted. Page 4 of 6

5 14. How do I fill in the page Education/Professional Qualifications? On this page, you must enter all academic/ professional qualifications; one at a time. For example: i. Start with SSC in the section where it reads Certificate/Degree/Qualification. ii. Enter Majors if it is applicable for you; iii. Applicants in East Africa must note their Index / Roll number. This is not applicable to candidates in Pakistan or UK. iv. Enter the Year of Admission and the Year of Completion for your SSC qualification; v. Enter the name of the Institution and City of Institution in the space provided; vi. Enter Board of Education [Sindh, EB etc.] and if this is not available, the name of the country in which this qualification was completed; vii. Within the section grade type: enter how results of this exam were provided: was this as a GPA, or as a Grade, or as a Division, or as a Percentage. viii. Within this section, enter the Total Marks as provided in your mark-sheet and the marks you obtained. In case results are awaited, click result awaited. ix. After you complete a qualification click save & finish. When you do this; a grid will appear at the bottom. You must check the grid at the bottom to ensure accuracy of your information. 6 15. Is the page Other Tests applicable for me? This screen is applicable for candidates applying for MBBS programme and MA programme in UK only; and specifically to candidates who are eligible to write the MCAT or SAT I in lieu of the AKU Admission Test and SAT II. Do not fill this in if you are not applying to any of these programmes. 16. What steps should I follow to submit my application? i. After you have completed the requirements, and you are on the last page of your application, you will asked to provide information about your Test and Interview Centre; and proof of payment. ii. You should click on the declaration I Accept and save information on this page iii. Review the information and then after reviewing, and ensuring accuracy, click save. iii. A submit button will become active. iv. Click the submit button. v. You will receive a PDF application form in your inbox. PLEASE NOTE: The online system will not allow you to submit the application if any mandatory information in the form is missing; PLEASE REMEMBER: The system will not allow any changes in the application form after the form is submitted. So, check all your information when the prompt is provided by the online application. This PDF application form must be sent with all supporting documents and proof of payment to the address provided in the check list.
