4 Purpose of this Document This document provides instructions for how to obtain the R3T StoreVista Reports via . It explains the process to be followed for both HPE and non-hpe staff, and also explains the prerequisite configuration steps required by Customers and Partners in order to define Authorised Recipients. This feature is available to both HPE and non-hpe recipients and provides the ability to obtain a summary report when access to the R3T StoreVista application is not possible.

5 Background R3T StoreVista R3T StoreVista is an HPE application which provides deep analysis and reporting for a number of products including, but not limited to, HPE StoreServ 3PAR, StoreOnce and StoreEasy. It is possible to produce a number of reports using R3T StoreVista for any HPE StoreServ 3PAR array that has a working and enabled call-home capability. These reports may be generated by accessing either the online R3T StoreVista website or via the mobile laptop R3T StoreVista application. The reports may also be generated by Authorised Recipients using the StoreVista Report Requestor located at The 3PAR StoreServ Call-Home capability must be configured and enabled. Available Reports The following reports are available: StoreServ Capacity Report StoreServ Healthcheck Report StoreServ Rebuild Config StoreServ Bill-of-Materials (7000/1000 Only) StoreServ Capacity History Report Provides details of the array configuration Provides an overview of the array performance Provides a script to recreate the array configuration Provides a list of components/parts for the array Provides historical capacity data for the array A typical Array Capacity Report, or Array Health Check Report would include contents similar to those shown below:

6 Pre-Requisites Call-Home It is a pre-requisite of this feature that the 3PAR StoreServ Call-Home capability be configured, enabled and operational. Please contact HPE Support for details of how to configure and enable the Call-Home capability if it is not already. Authorised Recipients For non-hp recipients it is a pre-requisite that the recipients address be added to the list of Authorised Recipients. The steps to add and remove an Authorised Recipient are detailed in this document. Note: It may take up to 48 hours for the amended list of Authorised Recipients to be processed and accepted by R3T StoreVista. Therefore until the amended list has been processed by R3T StoreVista, any changes to the Authorised Recipients list may not be effective. HPE recipients are managed via an alternative secure process and should not be added to the Authorised Recipients list at the array. Security Security measures are implemented to ensure that reports will only be generated and sent to Authorised Recipients. Only the owner of the system (with administrator level access) may designate the Authorised Recipients. The owner of the system assumes control and full responsibility for the accuracy of the list of Authorised Recipients. Where the requested recipient is not an Authorised Recipient then no report will be produced and no feedback given. No data is stored or accessed by the StoreVista Report Requestor web portal.

7 Authorised Recipients An Authorised Recipient is defined by an address which has been added to the Contact field of the System Descriptors. Multiple addresses may be specified, provided they have at least a single space between them, and the total length of the field contents does not exceed 235 characters. Non-HP Recipients R3T StoreVista will not generate or return an Array Capacity Report to a non-authorised Recipient. The owner/administrator of the array has full control and responsibility for management of the list of Authorised Recipients and therefore only the owner/administrator of the specific HPE StoreServ 3PAR array may add recipients to the Authorised list. It is the responsibility of the owner/administrator to add, remove and update Authorised Recipients as they see fit. HPE is not able to administer this, only being able to provide advice and instructions on how this list may be maintained by the owner/administrator of the array. HPE Recipients HPE Authorised Recipients must have a address however should not be added to the contact details of the array as they are managed via an alternative method. Only non-hpe Authorised Recipients should be specified in the array Contact field. Adding an Authorised Recipient In order to add an Authorised Recipient the owner/administrator of the array must access the array using the IMC or SSMC 3PAR StoreServ Management Console software and make a change to the System Descriptors, adding the address for the Authorised Recipient to the Contact field. The required changes may also be made via the CLI if IMC or SSMC are not available. Note: It may take up to 48 hours for the amended list of Authorised Recipients to be processed and accepted by R3T StoreVista. Until the amended list has been processed by R3T StoreVista, the added recipient will not be able to request or receive a report. It is recommended that a generic address be used where appropriate, such as support@company.com rather than individual names. This will reduce the level of maintenance required to keep the Authorised Recipients list accurate and up-to-date. The following sections describe the various processes for adding an Authorised Recipient.

8 Using IMC to amend the Authorised Recipients list Having started IMC and connected to the StoreServ array, right-click on the required system and select Edit System. Or select Edit System in the lower pane. Which will access this screen where you can change the Contact details for this array.

9 The Contact field accepts a maximum of 235 characters allowing you to enter the addresses of multiple Authorised Recipients. You should separate each address with at least one blank space. Example: your.name@company.com other.name@another.com

10 Using SSMC to amend the Authorised Recipients list Having started SSMC and connected to the StoreServ array, select Edit from the Actions menu of the desired system. Enter the address for the Authorised Recipients into the Contact field in the Descriptors section The Contact field accepts a maximum of 235 characters allowing you to enter the addresses of multiple Authorised Recipients. You should separate each address with at least one blank space. Example: your.name@company.com other.name@another.com

12 Removing an Authorised Recipient Recipients may be removed from the list of Authorised Recipients by removing the appropriate address from the Contact field in the System Descriptors. Use IMC, SSMC or CLI to amend the System Descriptors as described in the Adding an Authorised Recipient section of this document. Note: It may take up to 48 hours for the amended list of Authorised Recipients to be processed and accepted by R3T StoreVista. Therefore until the amended list has been processed by R3T StoreVista, any removed recipients would still be able to request and receive a report for the particular array.

13 Requesting a Report How to request a report There are a number of ways to request or obtain reports from R3T StoreVista, as detailed below: 1) StoreVista Report Requestor a. A simple web-based portal to enable the submission of requests for scheduling and automated report generation b. The StoreVista Report Requestor is accessible at this URL: 2) Request a. This option has now been discontinued b. Use Option 1 instead 3) Contact HPE Pre-Sales a. Reports may be requested by contacting your HPE Pre-Sales or Technical contact b. Reports may also be scheduled by the HPE contact 4) R3T StoreVista a. All reports, and additional information, is available to HPE personnel only, at The StoreVista Report Requestor is the preferred and recommended way for generating report requests for all non-hpe users. HPE users should access the R3T StoreVista application within the HPE Corporate network, using the StoreVista Report Requestor when that is not possible. Requesting a report via an request has now been discontinued and replaced by the StoreVista Report Requestor portal located at

14 StoreVista Report Requestor The StoreVista Report Requestor is available at This web-based application provides a number of pages including. Request Upload Download About For submitting Report Requests For uploading files created by the SAF Collectors For downloading SAF Collectors and Example reports Information about using the site, including instructions The Request page is the main screen of the application and the screen from which all report requests are submitted. The Upload and Download pages are primarily for use with the Storage Assessment Foundry (SAF) data collectors. The About page provides information about the StoreVista Report Requestor including additional documentation.

15 Submitting a Report Request There are four fields that must be completed in order to submit a report request, all fields are required. StoreServ serial number Recipients address Requested report Requested frequency Enter the serial number of the StoreServ for which you wish to request a report. This is the address to which the requested report will be sent. The address provided here must be defined to the list of Authorised Recipients otherwise the report request will be ignored. Select from the list of available reports. This allows you to select from a number of choices that will determine how often reports are sent to the recipients address. Options include: Single, Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Cancel Single Weekly Bi-Weekly Monthly Quarterly Cancel A single report will be generated and sent as soon as possible. No further reports will be generated. A report will be generated on a weekly basis. A report will be generated once every two weeks. A report will be generated on a monthly basis. A report will be generated once every three weeks. This option allows existing scheduled reports to be cancelled.

16 To generate a single report To obtain a single report, as soon as possible, the request should have a frequency setting of Single. Once the request is submitted it will be processed and the report generated and sent to the recipient. No further reports will be generated. Requests for single reports cannot be cancelled. No confirmation is provided for success or failure of the request. To generate a scheduled report To obtain a report at a regular interval, select a frequency other than Single or Cancel. Once the request is submitted the schedule is created with the first report being generated and sent as soon as possible. Subsequent reports will be generated at the chosen interval starting after the day the request is submitted. In other words if you submit the request on a Tuesday with a frequency of Weekly, then subsequent reports will be generated every Tuesday at Weekly intervals. Scheduled reports have a maximum duration of 1 year, after which they will automatically expire and be deleted. If you still require the report after this time then you will need to submit a new request for the desired report. No confirmation is provided for success or failure of the request. To cancel a scheduled report Scheduled reports have a maximum duration of 1 year, after which they will automatically be deleted, however if you wish to stop a scheduled report sooner than it s default expiry of 1 year then you need to submit a request to cancel the automated schedule. Setting the frequency option to Cancel will submit a request to cancel ALL report schedules for the selected StoreServ serial number. No confirmation is provided for success or failure of the request. Report Generation Typically each report should be generated and returned within approximately minutes, however during busy periods this may take longer. Requests for a Single report are given a higher priority than other automatically scheduled report requests. The report will be sent from the HPE account no-reply@hpe.com Error Notifications For security reasons R3T StoreVista will not provide any form of error notification. As R3T StoreVista will not provide any form of notification for any error, it should be assumed that if the requested report has not been received after 4 hours that an authorization error has occurred.
