7 Introduction This section provides an introduction to the routing applications used in SPECTRUM. The following sections provide a description of common routing applications used by Aprisma-developed and third-party devices. The application views allow you to view information on those routing applications supported by the device. The major applications are described initially in each section, followed by a description of the minor applications and subviews. Many views are accessed from the application icon subviews menu, while other views are accessed from view buttons, or by double-clicking entries within the application view tables. The application view fields may differ slightly between devices, depending upon the the supported MIBs. Overview The routing applications that are covered in this document are: Generic Routing (Page 8) Repeater (Page 11) AppleTalk (Page 14) DECnet (Page 31) OSPF (Page 46) OSPF2 (Page 61) If the routing application in which you are interested is not listed in this document, check the management module documentation for the device you are monitoring. Some routing applications are specific to that device. Routing Applications Page 7

This is used when retransmitting database description and link-state request packets; the value is usually greater than the expected round-trip time. Hello Interval The length of time, in seconds, between the Hello packets that the router sends on the interface. This value must be the same for the virtual neighbor. Dead Interval The number of seconds that a router s Hello packets have not been seen before its neighbors declare the router down. This should be some multiple of the Hello Interval. This value must be the same for the virtual neighbor. State The OSPF virtual interface states.
