The 9300-RADES home page can be accessed by opening a browser window and entering (or the units current IP address). To access the home page follow the instruction to set up an Ethernet or a Dial up connection to the 9300-RADES. 2

3 Unpacking your 9300-RADES Kit Contents: 1- Ethernet Modem 2- Phone Line Cable 3- Power Supply 4-6ft CAT5E patch cable 4 pair UTP 9300-RADES ports: - Four 10/100 10baseT (Twisted Pair) ports - One analog phone line port (phone line must be analog only) NOTE: All ports detect and correct cross-over cables Default Settings: - Management interface IP Address: Server IP Address: Subnet Mask: Gateway: Bootp Client: On - Web Interface Username: Admin - Web Interface Password: ZYPCOM - Telnet Password: ZYPCOM - Dial Up connection Username: ppp_user - Dial Up connection Password: ZYPCOM - FTP username: uploader - FTP password: ZYPCOM NOTE: Username and passwords are case-sensitive 3

4 Setting up the 9300-RADES for an Ethernet Connection 1. The 9300-RADES has a default IP address: subnet mask: On your PC, select Start>Settings>Network Connections>Local Area Connection Click on the properties button Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on the Properties button Enter an IP address and Subnet Mask on the same network as the RADES; make sure that this address is not used by anything else on the network. Do not use (See note below for explanation) Open your browser window and enter The Web Browser username: Admin and password: ZYPCOM this can be changed under Set Security. PLEASE NOTE: The 9300-RADES uses three IP addresses when a modem connection is made. One for the management interface ( by default), One for the PPP Client traffic (Assigned in Step 5 above), and one for the PPP server traffic (Always the management interface IP plus 1, by default). Do not use these three IP addresses for any other nodes on the network. Troubleshooting: If your browser window will not open: 1. Make sure you do not have a proxy server in place; if so, disable it. 2. Make sure that your IP address is correct. 3. Make sure you did not change the IP address with a bootp server or DHCP server. 4. Make sure the RADES has power. 5. Make sure that you have a lit LED on the connected Ethernet port of the RADES and your computer s Ethernet port. If not lit, this indicates an Ethernet cable issue. If modem will not connect: 1. Check to ensure that the phone line is one continuous cable (no spliters or couplers). 2. Make sure you are dialing the correct phone number. 3. Check your username and password (username: ppp_user password: ZYPCOM by default). 4

5 Setting up 9300-RADES for a Modem Connection 1. On your PC select Start>Settings>Network Connections>Make New Connection 2. Select Connect to Network at my Workplace 3. Select Dial Up Connection and type a descriptive site name 4. Type your remote site s phone number in the box 5. Select Do not use my Smart Card 6. Select availability of the connection 7. Click Finish 8. Type the username: (ppp_user by default), type the password: (ZYPCOM by default) 9. Click on Properties and select the Networking Tab, Click on settings button and make sure than Negotiate multi-link for single-link connection is unchecked (it should be by default) Click OK 10. Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the components box and click Properties 11. Select Use the following IP address and assign an available address on the remote network, do not use on a default unit. (see note below for explanation) 12. Open your browser Window and type for a default unit, the web username is: Admin, password is: ZYPCOM this can be changed under Set Security PLEASE NOTE: The 9300-RADES uses three IP addresses when a modem connection is made. Make sure that you have not used RADES IP, IP +1, or the IP address assigned in Step 11 for any nodes on the remote network. 7. Disable the Ethernet connection on your PC (this will not always be necessary, depends on the Windows configuration) 5

6 Getting Around the Management Interface Home Supplies information on each port, modem s firmware revision, and modem connection information, Also has links to the Remote Access website, the RADES user manual, and this document Basic Configuration Set IP address, Set ftp, telnet, and http security, assign a name to your 9300-RADES Network Services Setup RIP Configuration (Routing Protocol), NAT Configuration, IGMP Configuration (Used to reduce network traffic caused by I/O on Ethernet), Router Advertisements (Broadcasts routing table to other routers on the network), DHCP server Configuration, DHCP server Address table Dial-In Set up Authentication type, Calling Direction, Caller ID, Manage Dial in user accounts Dial-Out Set up routing capability, allows the modem to call another server and route traffic to another Ethernet network. Modem Setup Various modem settings including: Auto-answer, Country code settings and Line speed, Error Control, Diagnostics Display Routing Table, IGMP Report, MAC address report, Modem connection parameters, Test Dial-Out connection, Hang Up the current Connection, Cycle power to the 9300-RADES, TX and RX counters for each Ethernet port Switch Configuration Ethernet Port Configuration (Manual Configuration of Ports, IGMP Snooping, Port Mirroring), Mirror Configuration, VLAN Configuration, Quality of Service Configuration 6

7 Upgrading your 9300-RADES! Attention: Do not Upgrade a 9300-RADES on a running system, this procedure requires a power cycle. Ethernet communications will be lost for about 60 seconds. 1. Open a DOS prompt and type ftp (IP address may vary) The FTP username is: uploader, password: ZYPCOM by default. This can be changed under Basic Configuration>Set Security. Use the Put command to send the firmware file to the modem. Type: put File Path\boot.img The modem will update and power cycle automatically to complete the flash procedure. Please note that you will lose communications on your Ethernet Switch during this procedure.! Do not cycle power during the flash procedure. The unit will automatically power cycle when the flash procedure completes. If power is lost before this point, the unit may be rendered inoperable Re-establish your FTP session (Steps 2 and 3) Use the Put command to send the Web browser data file to the modem. Type: put File Path\webdata.img Note: boot.img and webdata.img filenames will always be the same; the name does not change with the firmware revision. Therefore, once the upgrade process is complete it is important to check the firmware version on the RADES home page. Note: Flashing the unit does not wipe out your IP address or passwords. * To access RADES home page see the directions for establishing an Ethernet connection or a modem connection. 7

8 Performing a Factory Reset of your 9300-RADES The 9300-RADES offers two levels of reset. The first level resets the IP address only, the second level resets all of the settings to default Materials Needed: - Small Screwdriver or paper clip - AC power supply included with the modem kit Resetting the IP address only (Sets RADES to / ) 1. Leave power applied to the modem 2. Remove the plastic clip located on the back of the unit. To do this use a small screwdriver to lift the center snap carefully and slide the clip up to remove. 3. Locate the Yellow Reset button in the right clip slot. The button will be towards the bottom of the slot. 4. Press the yellow button with a small screwdriver or paperclip and hold until the LEDs on the front of the unit move in a circular pattern. 5. Cycle power and the IP address will be set back to default! Use care when inserting screwdriver to prevent damage to the modem or shock. 8

9 Resetting all RADES Settings 1. Remove the power from the modem 2. Remove the plastic clip located on the back of the unit. To do this use a small screwdriver to lift the center snap carefully and slide the clip up to remove. 3. Locate the Yellow Reset button in the right clip slot, opened when the clip is removed. The button is located towards the bottom of the slot. 4. Press the yellow button using a small screwdriver or paper clip. While continuing to hold the button, apply power to the modem. 5. Hold the button until the LEDs move in a circular pattern 6. Cycle power and the unit should be back to factory settings 9
