1 1. Creating a New Project Enterprise Architect basic usage When Enterprise Architect starts, it displays a greeting screen. To create a new project first choose Create a New Project... and then choose a path and enter the file name. Then click OK with unselected all predefined model perspectives: A new model will be created. In the Project Browser appears a tree showing the hierarchy of objects in the project.
2 2. Adding new perspectives to the model To add a new perspective, click right mouse button on Model (from the Project Browser) and then from context menu choose New View... Add perspectives (Views) using appropriate icon styles: Requirements perspective (icon Use Case) Use case perspective (icon Use Case) Class perspective (icon Class View) In the Project Browser, a hierarchy tree with added perspectives should appear.
3 3. Adding packets and diagrams Add Package Functional requirements to Requirements Perspective. To do this, first click right mouse button on the Requirements Perspective and then choose from the context menu Add > Add Package... Check if option Automatically add new diagram is selected, when entering Packet name, and then click OK.
4 In order to add requirements diagram, you should choose diagram type Requirements from the group Extended and then enter diagram name Student management. Newly added diagram will appear in the project browser. To add an additional diagram to an existing Package (in the Project browser), you should click the right mouse button on Functional requirements (which should be a Package), and then from context menu choose Add > Add diagram...
5 Provide a name of new diagram, which is Lecturers management. Add packages Actors and Courses management and then create the Use case diagram (UML Behavioral Use Case diagram) in both packages with the same name as the name of Package. Add package Persons in the Class perspective and then add class diagrams Persons and Students (UML Structural Class diagram) 4. Adding new types of requirements To add new types of requirements choose Settings > General types > Requirement from the main menu. You should add functional and non-functional requirements and remove all other types of requirements. 5. Adding new elements to a diagram To add new elements to a diagram, first choose from project browser a diagram (Student management in this case), then from Toolbox choose element Requirements from group Common and pull it to workspace.
6 Enter the name of requirement (Adding new student) and then click OK. Then add second requirement (Entering student data). You should use the alternative way of adding elements to a diagram. To do this, first click right mouse button on workspace and then choose from context menu New Element or Connector > Requirements option.
7 Add the following requirements to the Requirement diagram: Admission of candidate Assignment to the course Handling student indexes Calculate average grade Issuing student indexes Approving of semester In order to add connection between elements, choose element Aggregate from group Requirements Relationships from Toolbox, and then choose one of requirement from diagram and drag a line to a second requirement. An alternative method of adding connections between diagram elements is to use Quick Linker. To do this, you should choose one of elements from diagram, and then click arrow that appears on right side of element, and then drag line to the other element of diagram.
8 From the context menu choose type of a connection. Finish diagram in the following way:
9 In use case perspective in the Actors package prepare diagram Actors according to picture below: Then prepare following use case diagram:
10 Courses management system add as a Boundary element. Actors should be pull to workspace from Actors package (in project browser) into workspace (use Simple link as a way of adding elements into diagram) Prepare class diagram Persons in a following way: To add attributes to class, click on element representing class with right mouse button and from context menu choose Properties... and from the Details tab choose option Attributes. Add each attribute by defining its name and type. Prepare Students class diagram in a following way:
11 Student and Professor classes should be dragged from project browser and added as Simple link. To add multiplicity to connections, you should click with right mouse button on one end of connection and then choose Multiplicity... from the context menu.
