Troubleshooting CVP 40 EVAL, CVP 40 DISTI, CVP 40 DART, CVP 41 EVAL,CVP 41 DIST NFR, CVP 41 DART NFR, CVP 70 EVAL, CVP 70 DIST NFR and CVP 70 DART NFR Licensing Issue Document ID: Contents Introduction Prerequisites Requirements Components Used Conventions Problem Solution Apply an NFR or Evaluation License to the CVP VoiceXML Server Apply an NFR or Evaluation License to the CVP VoiceXML Studio Related Information Introduction Customers who order CVP 40 EVAL, CVP 40 DISTI, CVP 40 DART, CVP 41 EVAL, CVP 41 DIST NFR, CVP 41 DART NFR, CVP 70 EVAL, CVP 70 DIST NFR, and CVP 70 DART NFR can receive alphanumeric strings instead of license keys from Product License Registration. This document explains the additional steps that need to be taken for these special SKUs to license the software. Prerequisites Requirements You have ordered CVP 40 EVAL, CVP 40 DISTI, CVP 40 DART, CVP 41 EVAL, CVP 41 DIST NFR, CVP 41 DART NFR, CVP 70 EVAL, CVP 70 DIST NFR, or CVP 70 DART NFR, received a Product Authorization Key (PAK) code, gone to Product License Registration, and received a file with an alphanumeric key in these formats: XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX CVP Studio 4.0 XXXXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXXXX CVP VXML Server 4.0 Components Used The information in this document is based on these components: Cisco Customer Voice Portal (CVP) Studio 4.0, 4.1, or 7.0 Evaluation (EVAL), and Not For Resale (DART, DISTI) licenses only Cisco Customer Voice Portal (CVP) VoiceXML (VXML) Server 4.0, 4.1, or 7.0 Evaluation (EVAL),
and Not For Resale (DART, DISTI) licenses only Note: This does not apply to any other Cisco Customer Voice Portal (CVP) Studio 4.0 or Cisco Customer Voice Portal (CVP) VoiceXML (VXML) Server 4.0 SKUs. The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command. Conventions Refer to Cisco Technical Tips Conventions for more information on document conventions. Problem When you order CVP 40 EVAL, CVP 40 DISTI, CVP 40 DART, CVP 41 EVAL, CVP 41 DIST NFR, CVP 41 DART NFR, CVP 70 EVAL, CVP 70 DIST NFR, and CVP 70 DART NFR, you can receive two alphanumeric codes instead of license keys from Product License Registration. If you try to use the Operations, Administration, Management, and Provisioning (OAM&P) Panel to install the license, it does not work. Solution Due to a known issue in CVP 4.0, you need to follow these additional steps for licensing the SKUs after you receive the license from Product License Registration. Unlike full production and development licenses, not for resale (NFR) and evaluation SKU licenses are not mailed as license keys from Product License Registration. Customers receive alphanumeric ID numbers to enter into the software. For these SKU types, different steps must be taken; they need to be applied to both CVP VoiceXML Server and CVP VoiceXML Studio in a different fashion. These sections describe the additional steps that are needed to activate the software with the alphanumeric codes. Apply an NFR or Evaluation License to the CVP VoiceXML Server Perform this procedure to apply an NFR or evaluation license to the CVP VoiceXML Server: 1. Open the license text file in a text editor, such as Notepad. 2. Copy the installation key of the format XXXXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXXXX (a block of seven characters, then five, five, and seven); this is the format of CVP VoiceXML Server installation keys. Keys in other formats are for other products. Note that the license text file can contain multiple installation keys. 3. Start the CVP VoiceXML Server when you either start the application server on which it is installed or when you start just the CVP VoiceXML Server web application, for example, on WebSphere. 4. In a web browser, visit the URL where IP is the IP address of the application server, and PORT is the port on which it listens. 5. Login when prompted to do so.
Note: The default username is admin, and the default password is password. This authentication information can be reviewed and/or modified through the file login.properties in the AUDIUM_HOME/conf directory. Any changes to login.properties take effect only when CVP VoiceXML Server is restarted. 6. Read the on screen instructions, and then click Next.
7. Paste the installation key into the appropriate fields. Note: You are strongly encouraged to use copy and paste, as opposed to retyping.
8. If the CVP VoiceXML Server machine has Internet access, choose Automatic from the Activation Mode drop down box. Otherwise, choose Manual. The latter option is also useful if automatic activation fails due to network connectivity issues, for example, firewall or proxy. Click Next. 9. If Automatic was chosen, follow these instructions: a. Enter the desired number of simultaneous sessions this CVP VoiceXML Server instance must support. For example, the installation key can have been issued for 20 sessions, and they can be divided such that 10 sessions are used on each of two servers. Click Activate.
b. A success message displays. Restart the CVP VoiceXML Server for the new license to take effect.
If automatic activation fails, attempt manual activation (see the next steps) instead. 10. If Manual was chosen, follow these instructions: a. Refer to Manual Audium Software Activation. b. Choose Audium Call Services 3.6 from the product drop down. This product uses the same licensing scheme. c. Copy and paste the installation key and system ID from the CVP VoiceXML Server Software Activation Console into the manual activation form. d. Enter the number of simultaneous sessions that this CVP VoiceXML Server instance must support. e. Click the Submit button. f. A block of license text displays in the field on the bottom of the web page. Copy and paste the license text into the correspondent field on the Software Activation Console. It is recommended that the Select All option from the Edit menu be used prior to the copy to ensure that all characters are properly chosen. A difference of one character causes the activation to fail. The Software Activation Console now resembles this:
g. On the Software Activation Console, click Activate. h. A success message displays. Restart the CVP VoiceXML Server for the new license to take effect. Apply an NFR or Evaluation License to the CVP VoiceXML Studio Perform this procedure to apply an NFR or evaluation license to CVP VoiceXML Studio. 1. Open the license text file in a text editor, such as Notepad. 2. Copy the installation key of the format XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX (five blocks of five characters); this is the format of the CVP VoiceXML Studio installation keys. Keys in other formats are for other products. Note that the license text file can contain multiple installation keys. 3. Start CVP VoiceXML Studio, and it displays the Activation& dialog.
4. Paste the installation key into the appropriate fields. You are strongly encouraged to use copy and paste, as opposed to retyping. 5. Click the Activate >> button. 6. If the CVP VoiceXML Studio machine has Internet access, click the Online Activation radio button. Otherwise, choose Manual Activation. The latter option is also useful if online activation fails because of network connectivity issues, for example, firewall or proxy. 7. If Online Activation was chosen, follow these instructions: a. Click the Activate button, and a moment later the Activation Successful notification displays. b. Click OK, and CVP VoiceXML Studio continues to load. It is now licensed. If automatic activation fails, attempt manual activation (see the next steps) instead. 8. If Manual Activation was chosen, follow these instructions: a. Refer to Manual Audium Software Activation. b. Choose Audium Studio 5 from the product drop down. This product uses the same licensing scheme. c. Copy and paste the installation key and system ID from the Activation& dialog of the CVP VoiceXML Studio into the manual activation form. Note: Ensure that this data is copied exactly; you are strongly encouraged to use copy and paste, as opposed to retyping. d. Click the Submit button. e. A block of license text displays in the field on the bottom of the web page. Copy and paste the license text into the correspondent field in the Activation& dialog. It is recommended that the Select All option from the Edit menu be used prior to the copy to ensure that all characters are properly chosen. A difference of one character causes the activation to fail. The dialog now resembles this:
f. Click the Activate button, and a moment later the Activation Successful notification displays. Click OK, and the CVP VoiceXML Studio continues to load. It is now licensed. If the machine that is upgraded includes CVP VoiceXML Studio, perform these steps to apply its license: Note: If the license to be applied is a not for resale (NFR) or evaluation license, refer to the section NFR and Evaluation Licenses for activation steps. 1. When CVP VoiceXML Studio is started for the first time, it displays an Activation& dialog box.
2. Open the license text file that is to be applied to this installation; if needed, refer to Product License Registration to obtain one. The installation key is the first piece of information found in this file, after the label InstallationKey: (see the highlighted section of this image). Ensure that the installation key is in the format XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX (5 groups of 5 characters). Other formats are for other products. 3. The rest of the information in the license text file is the license key text. The license key text is composed of all characters after the label LicenseKey: (see the highlighted section of this image).
4. Enter the installation key (from step 2) into the matching fields in the Activation& dialog. 5. Click the Activate >> button. 6. Choose the Manual Activation radio button. 7. Paste the license key text (from step 3) into the License Key: text area. The dialog now resembles this image. 8. Click the Activate button, and the Activation Successful notification displays. Click OK, and the CVP VoiceXML Studio continues to load. It is now licensed.
9. Import previously exported projects into CVP VoiceXML Studio. The import process automatically upgrades them to the CVP 4.0 format, if necessary. Be sure to choose the Existing Cisco Unified CVP Project into Workspace option. There are new Subdialog elements in Unified CVP 4.0. Within conversion, the new Subdialog End element automatically replaces pairings of Subdialog End and Hang Up in imported Cisco CVP 3.1 projects since the Hang Up element is no longer necessary. Note: If applications are checked out from a source repository (rather than imported from the file system), those applications must still be re imported as a CVP VoiceXML Studio project to initiate the conversion process. Additionally, for the first check in after the import, all files in each project are considered modified and need to be updated in the repository.
