3 Safety notes Read these safety notes carefully before using this product to ensure that you operate the equipment safely. Your GERA product and recommended supplies have been designed and tested to meet strict safety requirements. These include safety agency approval, and compliance with established environmental standards. Please read the following instructions carefully before operating the product and refer to them as needed to ensure the continued safe operation of your product. The safety and environment testing and performance of this product have been verified using GERA materials only. WARNING: : Any unauthorized alteration, which may include the addition of new functions or connection of external devices, may affect the product certification. Warning Markings Please contact your Authorized Local Dealer for more information. All warning instructions marked on or supplied with the product should be followed.! WARNING CAUTION This warning alert users to areas of the product where there is the possibility of personal injury This caution alert users that a wrong operation could damage the folder. Electrical Supply This product shall be operated from the type of electrical supply indicated on the product's data plate label. If you are not sure that your electrical supply meets the requirements, please consult your local power company for advice. WARNING: This product must be connected to a protective grounded circuit. This product is supplied with a plug that has a protective grounding pin. This plug will only fit into a grounded electrical outlet. This is a safety feature. To avoid risk of electric shock, contact your electrician to replace the electrical outlet if you are unable to insert the plug into it. Never use a grounding adapter plug to connect the product to an electrical outlet that lacks a grounded connection terminal. Operator Accessible Areas This equipment has been designed to restrict operator access to safe areas only. Operator access to hazardous areas is restricted with covers or guards, which would require a tool to remove. Never remove these covers or guards. 4 Electrical Safety Information Use only the power cord supplied with this equipment. Plug the power cord directly into a grounded electrical outlet. Do not use an extension cord. If you do not know if an outlet is grounded, consult a qualified electrician. If this machine needs to be moved to a different location, contact a Hp- GERA service representative or your authorized local representative or service support organization. Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in electrical shock. Do not place this equipment where people might step or trip on the power cord. Do not place objects on the power cord. Do not override or disable electrical or mechanical interlocks. Do not obstruct the ventilation openings. Never push objects of any kind into slots or openings on this equipment. If any of the following conditions occur, switch off the power to the folder immediately and disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet. Call an authorized local service representative to correct the problem. The equipment emits an unusual noise or odour. The power cord is damaged or frayed. A wall panel circuit breaker, fuse, or other safety device has been tripped. Liquid is spilled into the folder. The equipment is exposed to water. Any part of the equipment is damaged. Disconnect Device The power cable connect the device. It is attached to the back of the machine as a plug-in device. To remove all electrical power from the equipment, disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet. Operational Safety Information To ensure the continued safe operation of your GERA equipment, follow these safety guidelines at all times. Do these: Always connect equipment to a correctly grounded power outlet. If in doubt, have the outlet checked by a qualified electrician. 5 Never locate the equipment near a radiator or any other heat source. Never push objects of any kind into the ventilation openings. Never override or cheat any of the electrical or mechanical interlock devices. Never operate the equipment if you notice unusual noises or odors. Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet and contact your HP Service Representative or Service Provider immediately. Radio Frequency Emissions This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules and EN standard for EMC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference, in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at his own expense. Changes and modifications to this equipment not specifically approved by GERA void the user s authority to operate this equipment. 6 General Note Below are some terms and concepts that help to better understand the operation of the folder. Fold package dimension Folder Version The Ladybird folder with plotter HP series is available in the following configuration (a) longitudinal fold section This is the length of the panel longitudinaly folded. (b) cross fold section this is the length of the panel transversely folded (c) Front panel with title block m a p C b This configuration is compatible with the HP T2300/1300 and is provided only to fold in longitudinal section automatically. The cross fold must be done manually by introducing the package previously fan folded Paper specification The folder is designed to work with plain paper 18-20lbs (75-90 gsm) and with core 2 /90Mt. (Q8005A for roll A0 and Q8004A for roll A1) If the quality paper is different from these specifications this leads a poor quality and increases a folding jams. The paper rolls must be loaded extremely on the right of the plotter. All types of paper different from the common must not be folded. Mylar or polyester film must not enter the folder as they can also cause jams and damage to the folder itself. The number and placement of the folds depends on the type of folder you selected and the quality of the paper Floor specification The folder must be installed on a flat and hard floor not on a soft floor as carpet or linoleum July 2013 Ladybird Operator manual pag. 5

Control Panel The Ladybird Folder control panel contains two buttons and four indicator lights.

7 Control Panel The Ladybird Folder control panel contains two buttons and four indicator lights. The red light shows a fault as a jam or the machine busy, while the four green bars show the program's current folder. The following table show the various programs of Fan Fold that can be selected manually by user. 210 (*) Refer to a copy folded only fanfold 210mm. 190 (*) Refer to a copy folded only fanfold 190mm. The following table show the various programs of Cross Fold that can be selected manually by user. Selection Key Reset key If the red LED lit off, the button allows you to select the folder program and every time you press the program is changed. If the red LED lit on, the key performs the manual eject procedure, this eject the paper jam through the folding rollers. 8 Folding Lengths The table below summarizes the lengths and widths, minimum and maximum depending on the version of the folder. The folder can fold the design to the minimum length by making the longitudinal folds part, if the copy is too long, fold longitudinally and than leave the tail not folded because the length exceeds the ability to fold. To do this, the folder will count the number of panels in step 210 or 190mm. and cross folds part by feeding manually Up to 6 panel the copies can be Cross Folded. 9 INLINE FAN FOLD Inline mode the folder is connected to the plotter and receive copies directly to fold Use folder Inline mode: 1. Make sure the folder is attached to the plotter. 2. Switch on the folder. Cross Folding Programs LED Steady LED Flashing 3. Press the Reset key 4. Make sure Fan Fold program is selected. 5. Press the arrow selection key to choose the folding programs Depending of the program selected, the copies are fan folded to 210mm or 190mm and deposited in the rear bin. OFFLINE FOLD CROSS FOLD P3 P4 The copies width A2+/A1+ are folded with step 305mm title block facing out The copies width A2/A1 are folded with step 297mm title block facing out The copies width A0+ are folded with step 305mm title block facing inwards The copies width A0 are folded with step 297mm title block facing inwards The cross fold process can be done by manually feed the copy already fan folded. The Cross folder section is selected from the control panel. The Cross folding programs are P3(305) and P4(297mm) and can be selected by control panel By choosing the programs P3 or P4 the folder emits a sound and the printer pause print process with following message Close scanner cover to prevent customer to not print when folder is in Cross fold mode. Using the collection tray copies Ladybird Version 02 Paper rolls Folder programs compatible x x 297 When the width of the paper is not the same as the roll, the design must be justified to the left of the roll of paper noting the release paper from the printer and the document must be printed with high short-first and placed on the title block leading edge to the left Conditions to be folded copy (Size and weight) The copies must be at least a width of 297mm and length 594mm, while the weight must not exceed 80 gsm per square meter. Paper size g/m² maximum number of panel that can be folded lengthwise and crosswise using a specific weight of paper Fan Fold Section Cross Fold Section To obtain optimal performance, a greater capacity tray paper output we recommend to use a paper 80 g/m² with 2 of core and 91,4 m of length. HP paper code Q8005A A0 HP paper code Q8004A A1 Fan Fold and Cross fold section No Fold Section The copies fan folded automatically or Cross folded manually are placed in a collection tray situated on the lower side of the folder. ALARMS When the folder is in alarm, the red LED lights on and emit sound pulses (beep) to inform users of paper jam. In this case it is necessary to do the Automatic remove.

When the folder is in alarm, the green LED lights on and emit sound pulses more faster to inform the users that folder is in No fold Section. In this case it is necessary to wait the end of printing process place the selector in Fold section and send jobs to printer. Automatic paper jam removal For alarms with 4 beeps should make the procedure of automatic expulsion. Press the selection key to purge holding it until all the paper is out. Piloting the output of the paper,. Press the reset button for restoration. Manual paper jam removal When the movement of the rollers is not able to automatically remove the paper jam, or pieces of copy remained inside it needs to use the manual removal : Open the front Cover by unscrewing the two black knobs Inside, unscrew the third black knob that allows to lift the plate to access the paper jam. Remove the paper jam and check if the is another piece of paper between the rolls. Close the folder and switch it on 5 10 SEC Printing Block When the folder is in alarm or in Cross fold mode is also locked the plotter. The block is done using the open door signal plotter. If the plotter is in alarm and on its display we see the message "close the window " (pictured below), although the door is closed, this means that in reality the folder is in Cross folder mode or there is a Paper jam inside Release folder from Jam or change to program P1, reset it and wait until the message disappears and then restart If you can not remove the alarm of the folder. this one must goes off at least to be able to allow the plotter to print July 2013 Ladybird Operator manual pag. 10

23 Upgrade Firmware: - Connect the USB serial cable to the P5 folder serial - On folder main Controller put the connector on J9 - Switch off the folder - Run the utility 2.

12 FOLDER SETTINGS Download the GERA UTILITY 2.5 from GERA web site and install it Download Utility Rel 2.5 Download the zipped file who contains defaults values ini file, parameters and firmware Firmware Parameter and Ini 1.23 Upgrade Firmware: - Connect the USB serial cable to the P5 folder serial - On folder main Controller put the connector on J9 - Switch off the folder - Run the utility 2.5 a butterfly tools window will be opened - Choose the right COM and press download - A second window will ask to press start - Switch on the folder - If connection is complete it will ask to press Program - Choose the appropriate firmware downloaded previously. - After finishing the firmware upgrading Switch off/on the folder: If one green LED is lit on, the upgrading was successfully done If two LED is lit on, do the upgrading procedure again Fold quality Adjustment: - Connect the USB serial cable to the P5 folder serial port - On main Controller put the connector on J7 - The folder must be On. - Run the utility Choose the right COM and pres Start - On butterfly tools windows appears the model and Trim and Test will be activate. - To adjust panel values press Trim, choose the appropriate file.ini downloaded previously - A Butterfly Trim window will show the property name of even adjustment, the folder values and the defaul value saved on ini file. - After each modification it is necessary to press Save All July 2013 Ladybird Operator manual pag. 11

13 Problem Solving As the integration printer and folder is simplified, in the absence of a specific software, some situations may be critical and therefore require the assistance of the operator 1)End of Roll When the printer realize that the paper is finished she don t send a signal to a folder, which may cause the folder to not see the finished sheet and don t pull the paper, in this case, before the printer will send another sheet with another roll and to avoid jam in folder remove the paper from the folder by pressing the arrow key until the entire sheet is released and then reset the folder, install a new roll and start the new process 2)End of Ink When the printer realize that the ink is finished she don t finish the process of printing. In this case the folder will wait until the operator will change the ink. 3)Folder Jam When during the folding process, the folder has a paper jam or in error, a beep alert the operator for an emergency intervention : Switch off the folder to prevent tension Cut the paper from the printer and open the scanner cover to pause print job Switch on the folder and do the automatic remove(page.11). Reset the folder and Close the scanner cover to restart the job print. 4)Jam Drawings with Dark Areas or Largely Inked The system is designed to fold color line drawings, or small designs / logos are not allowed big images with large very dark areas that may interfere with the reading of cells in the folder and block the process of bending and / or movements 5)Folder Pull the copy from printer The folder forward in the process of folding only in the case of coverage of the sensor loop, it is possible that bands of sunlight or artificial light on and off or switch can change the status of reading and confuse the sensor test in the absence of these variables, and if the problem persists, contact technical support. 6) Alarm 4 Beeps One or more sensor are covered with paper or not working: remove any pieces of paper on the sensors, press the reset button.
