Page 5 4. USER INTERFACE AND APPLICATION INTERFACE 4.1. MAP SECTION The Map Section is the main section of the application. It contains the different types of maps and it is the most important workspace area. The map section will display the icons related to the location of contractors and inspectors, as well as the location for incidents reported in the field TOOL BAR SECTION MAP LAYERS By clicking the Map Layers button, a new window will be displayed: a) Base Map The Base Map option allows the user to select different base maps. There are currently 7 options of base maps. These are: - Streets (Default) - Imagery - National Geographic - Topographic - Dark Gray - Gray - Open Street Map Any of these maps can be changed at any time. By default, all types of users have permissions to change their base map. Every change of base maps is independent of the user that makes the change, which means that, if one user from the same company changes a base map, such change will not have any consequence or effect on the other users base maps.
Page 6 b) Weather Radar By selecting the checkbox next to Weather Radar, the map section of the application will display the current weather condition.
c) Personnel Layer The Personnel Layer displays the different types of personnel by their work type. There are 7 different types of work types: - Smoke Test Crew - CCTV Crew - Manhole Inspection Crew - Manhole Raising Crew - Point Repair Crew - Sonar Crew - Inspector For better accessibility, the box next to Personnel can be checked at any type to minimize the options. Also, the bar under Personnel can be used to fade (or accentuate) the icons to improve visibility for the user. Page 7 The ability to look at each type of personnel depends on the permissions of each user; this topic is discussed with more detail in section 6. Features.
d) Critical Incident Layer The Incident Layer displays the different types of work carried out in the field. This layer can be faded using the bar underneath the bar name. There are 11 different types of work, each one with its specific icon: - Heavy Cleaning Request - Buried - UTL - UTC - SSO - Pipe Collapse - Void - Utility Conflict - Smoke Defect - Surcharge Manhole - Public Engagement Page 8
Page 9 e) Sewer Layers One of the most beneficial Layers is the Sewer Layer. By default, this layer is turned on and this layer will display the sewer network based on the latest SARP10 sewer network. To activate or hide assets zoom in to the map and click on the checkbox next to the name of the asset that would like to be shown/hidden.. f) Contractor Boundaries Layer The Contractor Boundaries Layer displays the different contractor boundaries for the SARP10 program. The contract boundaries are the following: - ADS - CES - Cambridge - G2 - Hydrostructures - RJN - VIS For better accessibility, the box next to Contractor Boundaries can be checked at any type to minimize the options displayed in the window. Also, the bar under Contractor Boundaries con be used to fade (or accentuate) the icons for better visibility of the user.
Page TOOLS The Tools Menu provides the user with two tools: a) Measure Distance Tool The Measure Distance tool is ideal to figure out approximate distances between two points in the Map section. The unit of measure can be selected by clicking in the drop down menu b) Measure Area Tool The Measure Area tool is ideal to figure out approximate areas inside an area of interest. The unit of area can be selected by clicking in the drop down menu UPDATE LOCATION The Update Location menu provides the user with Teamworx most outstanding feature: Real-Time Geolocation. There are three options under the Update Location menu:
Page 11 a) Use Current Location: This option is mandatory to all contractors and inspectors. Depending on the work type, contractors and inspectors have been asked to update their respective location by clicking this button every time they move from the worksite and once an hour, whichever happens first. All location records are kept unmodified allowing the administrator to manage, improve or reallocate resources if needed. b) Map Click Location: This options allows the user to click on the map the location where he or she wants to drop his/her pin. This option has been included as a countermeasure in case of bad internet reception. Every time the user cannot update his/her location due to bad reception, he or she should use this option in order to update his/her location. It is important to remark that the supervisor user and administrator user can detect which type of option was used to display the user s location.
