3 1 Program Installation and Uninstallation Program Installation 1. Run the VLink Express Server to bring up the following dialog. Click Next>. 2. On the following License Agreement dialog, select I Agree. 1

4 3. On the following Choose Install Location dialog, click Browse to select the Destination Folder and click Next> to continue. 2

5 4. On the following Customer Information dialog, enter the Company Name, Register Number, and Serial Number and click Install. 3

6 5. When the installation is completed, the following dialog will pop up. Select the time to reboot the computer and click Finish to finalize. 4

7 Program uninstallation Two methods are available to uninstall the program. 1. Start Control Panel Programs and Features VLink Express Server Rev.D(Mirror) Uninstall. 2. Start All Programs VLink Express Server Rev.D(Mirror) Uninstall. 5

8 2 Program Running After the program has been successfully installed, it is set auto-running with system startup. If the program is not running after system startup or is quit by user manually, user can select the VLinkExpressServer item from the program group to execute. After the program s running, there is no window or interface displaying. A program icon is shown in the system tray, indicating its running status. Right click on this icon and a pop-up right-key menu will be shown as the following picture. Here: VLinkServer Options :Click here to show program settings interface. About VLinkServer:Click here to show program s copyright and version information. Exit:Click here to stop service and quit the program. 6

9 3 Service Settings Double click the program icon in the system tray (or select the VLinkServer Options from its pop-up right-key menu). Then, the following dialogue box appears. In the above dialogue box, user needs to make the following settings: Mirror Display:Click here to select display device. The server program will capture the output content from the display device and then send the captured content to client for displaying as windows. If more than one display device is configured and used in the system, there are correspondingly several items for user s selection. User must select at least one item. If more than one item is selected, there is correspondingly displaying of 7

10 contents output from these selected display devices. Window:Click here to select a window on the desktop. Use the left mouse button to drag the icon to select the window. The server program will capture the window content and then send the captured content to client for displaying as windows. Rect Area:Click here to select a rectangular region. The server program will capture the rectangular area content and then send the captured content to client for displaying as windows. Enable remote keyboard and mouse:click here to enable or disable remote control and operation over the server computer s desktop content with the client computer s mouse and keyboard. 8

11 Note: To install and use VLink Express Server (Mirror) on the operation system where more than one channel of display output is used, user needs to check the monitor arrangement in the Display Property dialogue box. In the monitor arrangement, the device used as primary monitor should be placed at the left side of other devices. Right click on the desktop and select the Property item from the pop-up right-key menu. Then select the Settings menu, to show a dialogue box as the following picture. In the dialogue box shown as the above, select one monitor icon (marked with their respective numbers) and then its corresponding device information will be shown below, including device name, screen resolution, color quality and extending desktop or not. Here, user needs to check whether the monitor used as primary monitor at the left side or not. If not, please drag the 9

12 icon to the left side of other monitor(s). Using VLink Express Server (Mirror) in the operation system, if user selects to capture several display devices output contents, user needs to ensure their display device icons are placed together in the monitor arrangement described as the above and the primary monitor s icon is placed at the leftmost. To ensure optimum display effect, please adjust the resolutions of these display devices to the same value. Note: The above steps and pictures are for Windows 7 operation system only. Different operating system may vary. 10

13 4 Program Operation After installation, the program is automatically set as auto-running with system startup. After running, VLink Express Server is running on the backstage and no program interface will be shown on the desktop. What user needs to do is only to make settings in the system setting interface. Then, the server will capture the desktop content and output the contents to client for displaying as windows. User can use various types of client program (such as the VWAS and PowerVlink, which supports VLink signal source) to connect the server and acquire the output content from the server. Note: To know which type of client program is available for you, please contact your system/device administrator. 11

14 5 Troubleshooting 1.Installation failure Causes: 1) VLink Express Server (Mirror) has already been installed in the system. 2) The system is not restarted after uninstallation. 3) Other unknown causes. Solutions: 1) Uninstall VLink Express Server (Mirror), and then restart the operation system before installing. 2) Re-start the system. 3) Please contact agent or VTRON. 2.When more than one display device is selected for content capturing, there is cursor interference or the desktop contents are not correctly displayed. Causes: Conflicts between the operation system s multi-device management and the program s mirror mechanism. Solutions: Try one of the following solutions. (Note: it does not mean all the following solutions should be executed. If no solution is satisfying, please contact agent or VTRON.) Right click on the desktop and select the Property item from the right-key menu. Then switch to Desktop. Select the Tile item from the Position pull-down list. Finally, click Ok to confirm the setting. Right click on the desktop and select the Property item from the right-key menu. Then switch to Desktop. Click Customize Desktop button and select the Web in 12

15 the pop-up dialogue box. Select the Lock desktop items. Finally, click OK. Right click on the desktop and select the Property item from the right-key menu. Then switch to Settings. Drag the primary monitor s icon to the left side of other monitor(s). Finally click OK. 3.When more than one display device is selected for content capturing, the client window displays black area or other undefined monitor s contents. Causes: Monitor arrangement is not correctly defined. Solutions: Please refer to the monitor arrangement descriptions and drag the primary monitor s icon to the left side of other device(s). Also, set the resolutions of these monitors to the same value. 4.Serial number error prompts at program running Causes: 1) The serial number is not correctly entered, for example, upper/lower case error or additional space is included in the serial number. 2) Serial number itself is not correct. Solutions: 1) Uninstall the installation, reboot the system and repeat the installation again. 2) Contact the agent or VTRON and provide your registration information. 13
