Child: A subsidiary section of something larger. (plr. Children) Map Object: An item relative to the specified field such as field boundary, labels, and application layers. Vertex: The intersection of two sides of a plane figure (plr. Vertices) Note: User will be prompted, when first launching AgOS Mapping, to track the physical location. This prompt will allow AgOS Mapping to utilize the user s current geo-reference as a default for the map view. Select Allow when prompted with a message similar to the one above. Page 1 of 18

2 Getting Started: The left navigation contains: The customer search functionality The customers and their relative map objects such as farms, fields, field boundaries, application layers, etc. o At this time, field boundaries are the only map object that can be created directly from AgOS Mapping. To create other map objects such as application layers, the user may need to access AgOS Planning. More features will be coming soon. Top menu bar contains: Save functionality o Click the save button to commit recently created or modified objects to the database for later use. The map view contains: The map imagery and working space o User can right click on map objects to begin working on them. o User can locate areas on the map by using the mouse to drag a desired area into focus or use the navigation options on the top left of the map view. 3 Searching for a Customer: 1. Launch AgOS Mapping. 2. Begin typing in the customer search box. a. Users have the ability to search customer by last name or by common name i. Example: Customer, Maurie Boston, can be found by typing Boston or Maurie Boston. b. If you need to clear the customer name within the search box, click on the X to the right of the search box. i. This will return the user to the full customer list. 3. Once the customer has been located, double click on the customer. This will open the customer s objects for use within mapping. Page 3 of 18

4 Creating a New Farm and Field: 1. Launch AgOS Mapping 2. Search for a specific customer 3. Double click on the desired customer. This will open the customer s objects for use. 4. Right click on the customer and select Add Farm. a. The user will be presented with the New Farm form. Fill out the farm information appropriately and click OK to save. 5. The new farm will appear in the list of objects. Right click on the farm to add a field. Page 4 of 18

5 a. The user will be presented with the New Field form. Fill out the field information appropriately and click OK to save. 6. The new field will appear in the list of objects. Page 5 of 18

6 Creating a Field Boundary 1. Launch AgOS Mapping 2. Search for a specific customer 3. Double click on the desired customer. This will open the customer s objects for use. 4. Click on the customer to bring the list of farms for this customer into view a. Notice: The customer icon will become active ( ) 5. Click on the desired farm to bring the list of fields for this farm into view a. Notice: The farm icon will become active ( ) 6. Right click on the field and select Add Field Boundary 7. The user will be prompted with the new contour form. This form contains address search functionality which will allow specific sites to be brought to focus. a. If left blank, the focus of the map view will stay at the current location when the user clicks OK i. Search examples are discussed later in this manual. Page 6 of 18

7 8. Locate the desired site by using the navigation tools at the top left of the map view. a. Using the navigation options on the top left of the map view to move the image north, south, east, west. i. Or, click on the map and dragging to the desired site. b. Using the zoom bar to zoom in or out i. Or, using the scroll on the mouse to zoom in/out to the desired site. 9. Start drawing the field boundary by clicking on the map to create vertices Page 7 of 18

8 a. When the user returns to the starting vertex, then the mouse pointer will change and the user can click once more to close the contour b. This will create a field boundary automatically labeled with the system calculated acres and the name of the field. Page 8 of 18

9 10. Click the save button to commit this to the database. a. User will be prompted to confirm. i. If the user clicks Yes then the recent changes will be committed to the database. ii. If the user clicks No then the recent changes will not be committed to the database and the user will be returned to the map view. Page 9 of 18

10 Editing a Field Boundary 1. Launch AgOS Mapping 2. Search for a specific customer 3. Double click on the desired customer. This will open the customer s objects for use. 4. There are at least two ways the user can begin working with this customer a. Option 1: If the user would prefer to work with a specific Farm/Field at a time: i. Expand the Customer node 1. This will open the list of farms for this specific customer ii. Expand the Farm node 1. This will open the list of fields for this specific farm iii. Locate the desired field 1. Right click and select Expand All Children a. This will display the desired field and associated map objects within the map view. 2. Right click on Unnamed Contour and select Edit Boundary b. Option 2: If the user would prefer to work with all of the farms/fields for this specific customer: i. Right click on the customer name and select Expand All Children Page 10 of 18

11 1. This will activate all of the customers map objects and bring them within focus on the map view. ii. Locate the desired field iii. Right click on the field and select Edit Boundary 5. The vertices of the boundary will be displayed. The user can click on these vertices and drag the vertex to a new location to edit the contour as needed. a. User can click on the undo button to move a vertex back to its original location. Page 11 of 18

12 6. When finished with modifications, right click within the boundary and select Stop Edit 7. Click on the Save button to commit this to the database a. User will be prompted to confirm. i. If the user clicks Yes then the recent changes will be committed to the database. ii. If the user clicks No then the recent changes will not be committed to the database and the user will be returned to the map view. Page 12 of 18

13 Move a Label 1. Launch AgOS Mapping 2. Search for a specific customer 3. Double click on the desired customer. This will open the customer s objects for use. 4. Locate the desired Farm 5. Locate the desired Field 6. Once the field is displayed within the map view, right click on the boundary and select Edit Boundary 7. The vertices of the boundary will be displayed as well as the vertex for the boundary label. The user can click on this vertex and drag the label wherever desired. Page 13 of 18

14 8. When the label is at the desired position, right click on the boundary and select Stop Edit 9. The label will be moved to the desired location. 10. Click on the Save button to commit these changes to the database. a. User will be prompted to confirm. i. If the user clicks Yes then the recent changes will be committed to the database. ii. If the user clicks No then the recent changes will not be committed to the database and the user will be returned to the map view. Page 14 of 18

15 Search Examples within AgOS Mapping: AgOS Mapping is powered by Google s robust search functionality. Below are a few ways you can use the search functionality to enhance the user experience. 1. Search by physical Address: 111 W. 76 th Street, Davenport, Iowa Search by City and State: Davenport, Iowa Page 15 of 18

17 Working with Multiple Objects at the Same Time: Another feature to AgOS Mapping is the ability to work with multiple objects (customers, farms, fields, etc) at the same time. Below are some examples: 1. The ability to open multiple customer records within mapping. a. Launch AgOS Mapping b. Locate the desired customer(s) i. Note, currently, the user cannot use the search function to locate the desired grouping of customers. c. Highlight multiple customers by holding the ctrl key on the keyboard and clicking on the desired customers d. Double click on the desired customers. This will open the customers objects for use. 18 2. The ability to open multiple farms within mapping. a. Launch AgOS Mapping b. Search for a specific customer c. Double click on the desired customer. This will open the customer s objects for use. d. Locate the desired farm(s) e. Highlight multiple farms by holding the ctrl key on the keyboard and clicking on the desired farms f. Right click on one of the highlighted objects and select Expand All Children g. This will display the map objects for those farms highlighted Page 18 of 18
