10 Instructions Guide Basic Operation Please note all (Ref.) refer to Page 1 Controls and Functions mapping guide. Plug the connector into the back of the system labelled AC- (Ref.19) and the power supply into the mains. Ensure the antenna (Ref.20) is extended as far as possible so that you can rotate it which will enable you to get the best signal you can. Switch the button on the rear of the unit to On (Ref.18). Press the Power/Standby button to turn on the unit (Ref.8). It will automatically take you to DAB/DAB+ radio mode or the previous mode you were using. When DAB Radio is activated for the first time the display will show Full Scan, press the OK button on the unit (Ref.13) or the Enter/Play button (Rem.22) on the remote. he unit will then scan and store all available stations. S b r o L G o P P D o scroll through the stations use the Previous (Ref.5) and Next buttons (Ref.6). Press OK (Ref.13) to listen to a station. o change the mode, press the Mode button (Ref.7) on the unit to switch between the options. You can also select your option on the remote (Rem.2). 8

11 Instructions Guide Standby o put the music system in standby, press the Power/Standby button (Ref.8) or the ON/SANDBY button (Rem.1) on the remote. o turn off fully, switch it off at the mains. he cord must be out of reach of children. Language Setting he default display language is English. You can change to German (Deutsch) by pressing Menu (Rem.8). When the menu is open, <Full Scan> will be displayed on the screen. Press the Next button (Rem.23) to get <System>. Press Play/ Pause to open Settings (Rem.22). After that, press Next to get Deutsch, then press Play/Pause to confirm. 9

12 Instructions Guide DAB/DAB+ Radio Press the Mode button (Ref.7) multiple times on the unit to switch to DAB/DAB+ Radio. o select the mode from the remote press the FM/DAB button (Rem.2). On first use when DAB Radio is activated for the first time the display will show Full Scan, press the OK button on the unit (Ref.13) or the Enter/Play button (Rem.22) on the remote. Fully extend the antenna (Ref.20). o auto scan, press the Menu button (Rem.8) on the remote and use the Next (Rem.23) and Previous buttons (Rem.10) to scroll through options. Select Full Scan with the Enter button (Rem.22). his will start scanning up the frequency band and store all stations that have a good signal. he radio will automatically save all the stations with a strong signal. After searching has finished it will automatically play the first station stored. o listen to all stations that have been stored use the Next (Rem.23) and Previous buttons (Rem.10) to scroll through them, press the Enter button (Rem.22) when on required station. When you turn on the radio again after it switching off, it will automatically tune to the same station (DAB or FM) that was last selected. In DAB/DAB+ mode, the radio will synchronize with the time and date of the station. 10 P t u t U c D m m c b P o S U O c

13 Instructions Guide DAB/DAB+ Settings Prune o remove stations that are listed but are unavailable, you can turn on the Prune setting. o do this, press the Menu button (Rem.8) on the remote and use the Next (Rem.23) and Previous buttons (Rem.10) to scroll through options. Select Prune with the Enter button (Rem.22). Use the Next (Rem.23) and Previous (Rem.10) buttons to choose Yes/No. Press the Enter button (Rem.22) to confirm. he unavailable station will now be deleted if you chose Yes. Dynamic Range Compression (DRC) his function enables you to reduce the difference between the maximum and minimum audio volume being broadcast. his makes quiet sounds comparatively louder, and loud sounds comparatively quieter. DRC only works if it enabled by the broadcaster for a specific station. Press the Menu button (Rem.8) on the remote and use the Next (Rem.23) and Previous buttons (Ref.10) to scroll through options. Select DRC and press the Enter button (Ref.22). Use the Next (Ref.23) and Previous (Rem.10) buttons to select DRC [off/high/low]. Once you have chosen press the Enter button (Rem.22) to confirm. 11

14 Instructions Guide D DAB+ Manual uning As well as an auto tune function, you can manually tune the receiver. his can help you when aligning your aerial or when adding stations that were missed while auto tuning. Press the Menu button (Rem.8) on the remote and use the Next (Rem.23) and Previous buttons (Rem.10) to scroll through options. Select Manual une and press the Enter button (Rem.22). Use the Next (Rem.23) and Previous (Rem.10) buttons to cycle through the DAB+ channels, which are from 5A to 13F. H U e y B o d P c d H p o P t P s 12

15 Instructions Guide DAB/DAB+ Presets How to store a preset station Up to 40 stations can be set as your preset favourite stations for easy navigation. It is advisable to be listening to the station that you wish to preset. Begin by pressing and holding the Program button (Rem.20) on the remote for 3 to 5 seconds. <1: (Empty) will show on the display. Press the Previous (Rem.10) or Next (Rem.23) button to change the <1 to the number you want to store the station as. hen press Enter button (Rem.22) on the remote to save. he display will then show Preset [x] stored. How to play a preset radio station o begin playing one of your saved preset stations, open the preset station page by pressing the Program button (Rem.20) on the remote (do not hold). Press the Previous (Rem.10) or Next (Rem.23) button to scroll through your preset stations (up to 40). Press the Enter button (Rem.22) to select your choice and the station should begin to play. 13

16 Instructions Guide Station Information for DAB/DAB+ Radio Press the Info button on the remote (Rem.14) repeatedly to show the different programme information. Bit Rate: he data rate which the signal is being transmitted. Bit Error Rate (BER): Provide details of the signal error rate. Channel and Frequency: Displays the station s transmission channel number and frequency. PY ( Programme ype): Shows the type and description of the programme provided by the DAB/DAB+ station. ime and Date: Displays the time and date information provided by the broadcaster. DAB indication: Indicates DAB/DAB+ mode. Dynamic Label Segment (DLS): Displays scrolling text information supplied by the broadcaster. F P c M F r b t o s ( 14

17 Instructions Guide FM Radio Press the Mode button (Ref.7) multiple times on the unit to choose FM, or press the FM/DAB button (Rem.2)on the remote. he first time you switch to FM mode, the FM frequency 87.5 MHz will be displayed on the screen. Fully extend the antenna (Ref.20). o auto-scan for available stations with good signal, press the INRO/AMS (Automatic Music Scan) button (Rem.3) on the remote control for the radio to begin scanning up the frequency band. he next available station with good signal will then begin to play. o tune a specific frequency manually o listen to a specific frequency press and hold Next (Rem.23) on the remote to search forward quickly or press and hold the Previous button (Rem.10) to search back quickly. It will stop searching when the button is released. o search slowly press the Next (Rem.23) or Previous button (Rem.10) on the remote multiple times rather than holding. 15

18 Instructions Guide FM Radio Settings FM Scan Setting Choose between scanning strong and weak signals (All) or only the stations with strong signal (Only). Press the Menu button (Rem.8) on the remote. o make your choice, use the Previous/Next buttons (Rem.10/23) to choose your option. Select FM Scan Setting and press the Enter button (Rem.22). Press the Previous (Rem.10) or Next (Rem.23) button to choose between Strong stations only or All Stations, press the Enter button (Rem.22) to confirm your choice. Audio Settings: Mono and Stereo All stereo stations are reproduced in stereo; for weak stations this can result in poor audio quality. he audio quality in FM mode can be improved by using mono. Press the Menu button (Rem.8) on the remote. Use the Previous/Next buttons (Rem.10/23) to scroll to the Audio Setting option and press the Enter button (Rem.22) to select. On these settings, use the Previous (Rem.10) or Next (Rem.23) buttons to choose between Stereo allowed or Forced mono. Press the Enter button (Rem.22) to confirm your choice. 20 Instructions Guide Station Information for FM Radio Press the Info button on the remote (Rem.14) repeatedly to show the different programme information. Signal Strength: Displays a signal bar with the strength of the current station. ime and Date: Displays the time and the date. Frequency: Displays the station s transmission frequency. Audio ype: Displays the audio type of the station you are listening to. It will either be stereo or mono. Radio ext: Displays scrolling text information supplied by the broadcaster. Programme ype: Displays a description of the type of programme provided by the broadcaster. f ( A 18

23 Instructions Guide CD Playback Please note all (Ref.) refer to Page 1 Controls and Functions mapping guide. o choose CD Mode, press the Mode button on the unit (Ref.7) repetedly until CD mode displays on the screen. Alteratively, press the CD button on the remote (Rem.2). Insert the CD into the CD port at the front of the unit (Ref.4). he CD will read automatically and start playing. Press and release the Play/Pause button to play/pause (Rem.22) on the remote. Press and release the Previous (Rem.10) or Next (Rem.23) button to select previous or upcoming tracks. Press and hold the Previous or Next button to rewind or fast forward. Press and release the Stop button to stop (Rem.24). Press and release the eject button (Rem.15) on the remote to eject the CD. Whilst the CD is playing, the current track number and the elapsed time will be displayed. 21

24 Instructions Guide CD Functions Playing Repeatedly For CDs, press the REPEA button (Rem.4) on the remote multiple times to view options: Repeat All (ALL), Current rack (SINGLE) or Repeat Off (OFF). Remain on the option you would like to save, and it will store this setting automatically in a few seconds. Random Play For CDs, Random Play can be set by pressing the RANDOM button (Rem.18) on the remote control. Program tracks into a preselected order Press the Stop button (Rem.24) on the remote, then press the Program button (Rem.20). he track number will then flash on the front display (Ref.2). Change this number to your first required track using the number keys on the remote (Rem.13). Press the Program button (Rem.20) to move to preset 2 (P02) to select your next track, select using the number keys on the remote (Rem.13). Press the Program button (Rem.20) to continuing adding more tracks or the Play/Pause button on the remote and wait a few seconds for the unit to start playback of your selection. Up to 20 tracks can be preselected. Note: when using playback, the Next (Ref.6) and Previous (Ref.5) buttons can only be used on the unit, not on the remote. 25 Instructions Guide Bluetooth and Phone Connection o choose your mode, press through your choices using the Mode button on the unit (Ref.7) or select B on the remote control (Rem.2). he choices will be displayed on the front screen (Ref.2). urn on Bluetooth on your phone and Majority Oakington will appear. Click on this to connect. When the unit makes a short sound, it has successfully connected. o choose music you will need to choose the album or playlist from your phone, but once selected you can then use the Previous (Rem.10) or Next (Rem.23) buttons on the remote to select previous or next tracks. he operational range between the unit and a Bluetooth device is approximately 10 meters, without any objects in the way. If there is already an existing connection, press the Pair button (Ref.12) on the unit or press and hold Pair on the remote (Rem.9). Note: If the connected device supports Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), you can listen to music stored on the device through the unit. If the device also supports Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP), you can use this unit s remote control to play music stored on the device. 23

26 Instructions Guide AUX-In AUX Audio-In You can connect your phone or tablet with an Aux 3.5mm cable that connects to the Audio-in jack on the back of the unit (Ref.15). Insert the audio cable. o choose AUX mode, press the Mode button (Ref.7) repeatedly on the unit until AUX displays on the front screen (Ref.2). Alternatively, select the Audio button on the remote (Rem.17). Now begin playing media from your device. Ensure that the volume on the device is switched up for the best sound quality. Note: when using playback, the Next and Previous buttons can only be used on the unit not on the remote. U U p y w U I o A P F r R F 24

27 Instructions Guide USB USB Charging o charge your device via the USB port, simply insert a USB power cable into the USB charging port (Ref.14) and connect to your device. Remain on the option you would like to save, and it will store this setting automatically in a few seconds. USB Playing Mode Insert the USB device into the back of the unit (Ref.16). o choose USB Mode, press through your choices using the Mode button (Ref.7) on the unit. he choices will be displayed on the front screen (Ref.2), select USB. Alternatively press the USB button on the remote (Rem.2). he device s stored music will start playing automatically. Playing Repeatedly For a USB device, press the Repeat button (Rem.4) on the remote multiple times to view options: Repeat All (ALL), Current rack (SINGLE) or Repeat Off (OFF). Random Play For a USB device, random play can be set by pressing the Random button (Rem.18) on the remote control. 25

28 Settings Settings: ime and Date Manually Setting the ime and Date he time will automatically update after the first use of DAB Radio. However, you can still set the time manually as follows. Ensure the unit is in standby. Press and hold the Clock button (Rem.26) on the remote for a few seconds. Input the Year, Month, Date, Hour and Minutes using the number keys on the remote (Rem.13). Press the Clock button to change from 12 hour or 24 hour clock, this will be displayed on the screen. o display the date when in DAB or FM mode press the Display button (Rem.29) on the remote. 26

29 Settings Settings: Alarm or imer Option In Standby, a timer can be set to automatically turn on and off at certain times and can also be used as an alarm. Press and hold the imer button (Rem.28) on the remote control. he options available will flash on the display. Choose which sound option you would like to come on using the Previous or Next buttons (Rem.10/23) on the remote. Press the imer button (Rem.28) on the remote control to confirm your option. Input the time that you would like the unit to come on using the number key pad on the remote control (Rem.13). Press the imer button (Rem.28) on the remote control to confirm your option. Change the volume to the required level using the Previous or Next buttons (Rem.10/23) on the remote. Press the imer button (Rem.28) on the remote to confirm your option. Input the time that you would like the unit to switch off using the number key pad on the remote control (Rem.13). Press the imer button (Rem.28) on the remote control to confirm your option. Note: When using the Alarm Buzzer Option, the timer off setting is not available. 27

30 Settings Settings: Sleep imer S his enables you to programme the radio to switch off at a specific time, up to 120 minutes from activation. In working mode, press and hold the Sleep button (Rem.16) on the remote control. Choose from: Off/15mins/30mins/60mins/90mins or 120mins by pressing the Sleep button (Rem.16) multiple times. Once selected, the timer icon will show on the display screen to show that the timer has begun. o turn the sleep timer off, follow the above instructions and choose Off from the choices. o view how long is remaining on the timer once it has been set, press the Sleep button (Rem.16) on the remote and the remaining minutes will be displayed. 28

31 Settings Settings: Additional Functions System Reset Press the Menu button (Rem.8) on the remote control. Use the Previous or Next buttons (Rem.10/23) to scroll to System and press the Enter button (Rem.22) on the remote control. Press the Previous or Next buttons (Ref.10/23) to scroll to Factory Reset, press the Enter button (Rem.22). w Use the Next button (Rem.23) to choose Yes or No. Press the Enter button (Ref.22) to confirm. SW Version Software Version Display Press the Menu button (Rem.8) on the remote control. Use the Previous or Next buttons (Rem.10/23) to scroll to System and press the Enter button (Rem.22) on the remote control. hen use the Previous or Next buttons (Rem.10/23) to scroll to SW Version, press the Enter button (Rem.22) on the remote. he software version will be displayed. Headphone Connection Connect your headphones to the socket at the rear of the unit (Ref.17). he unit can not support headphones that have a microphone input, for example mobile phone headphones or Bluetooth earphones. 29

32 roubleshooting Observation No sound Buttons are not working FM: Static sound DAB: Burbling/ intermittent cut-out Sound is distorted Desired station not found Display shows No Service Display is blank ime and Date not setting automatically Other problems/ functional issues Potential Cause/Solution he station is not tuned in. Fine tune the station. he volume is set to a low position. Increase the volume. Headphones may be connected. Disconnect the headphones. urn off the unit and turn on after a few seconds. Please also try unplugging/replugging the radio. Signal reception is low. Adjust the aerial or move the unit to a stronger signal location. Re-scan stations and or/ a factory reset. he volume is too high. Adjust the volume control. Weak signal. Use the manual tune function and try rescanning in a different area. here is no DAB coverage in your area, or poor reception. Adjust the position of the aerial, or move the unit to a stronger signal location. his may occur if the broadcaster changes the label of a service or removes a label while tuned. he radio will try to retune or perform a scan. Go to DAB mode and this will automatically set once a scan is performed. Alternatively, set in your Settings and adjust manually. Please perform a factory reset of the radio in your settings.
