HSPA over Iur RAN Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

Background The HSPA over Iur feature allows both HSDPA and HSUPA data to be transferred across the Iur allows the Serving Cell Change procedure to target cells on a drift RNC allows drift RNC cells to be included within the HSUPA active set avoids the requirement for channel type switching when moving onto a drift RNC 2 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

Requirements UE Requirements None Network Hardware Requirements None Feature Requirements The following features must be enabled: HSPA Inter-RNC Cell Change; HSDPA Serving Cell Change; HSDPA Soft/Softer Handover for Associated DPCH; HSDPA Dynamic Resource Allocation Feature is licensed using an RNC ON/OFF license 3 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

Enabling the Feature The HSPAOverIur parameter must be set to enabled Parameter modification can be done online Drift RNC checks the feature license but does not check this parameter Name Range Default Description HSPAOverIur (IUR) 0 (HSPA over Iur disabled), 1 (HSPA over Iur enabled) 0 Parameter enables / disables HS-DSCH and E-DCH MAC-d flow setup over Iur-interface and the serving cell change over Iur-interface controlled by the Serving RNC. Serving RNC does not setup HS-DSCH MAC-d flow and E-DCH MAC-d flow over Iur-interface if HSPA over Iur is disabled. Release version of neighbouring RNC must be Release 6 or later in order to enable the HSPAOverIur parameter If the parameter HSPAOverIur is set to 'Enabled' serving RNC is allowed to setup HS-DSCH and E-DCH RL over Iur serving RNC is allowed to perform Serving Cell Changes from serving RNC cell to drift RNC cell 4 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

HSPA Availability at Neighbouring RNC The serving RNC checks HSDPA and HSUPA availability at drift RNC neighbouring cells HOPS parameter HSDPAAvailabilityIur defines whether or not the drift RNC neighbouring cell supports HSDPA HOPS parameter HSUPAAvailabilityIur defines whether or not the drift RNC neighbouring cell supports HSUPA Name Range Default Description HSDPAAvailabilityIur (HOPS) 0 (HSDPA unavailable), 1 (HSDPA available) 1 Parameter defines whether HSDPA is available in the neighbouring DRNC cell. This parameter can be used to enable/disable HS-DSCH/E- DCH MAC-d flow setup in the neighbouring DRNC cell. Name Range Default Description HSUPAAvailabilityIur (HOPS) 0 (HSUPA unavailable), 1 (HSUPA available) 1 Parameter defines whether HSUPA is available in the neighbouring DRNC cell. This parameter can be used to enable/disable E-DCH MAC-d flow setup in the neighbouring DRNC cell. 5 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

Mobility Serving RNC selects the initial serving cell from the set of serving and drift RNC cells within the active set Serving Cell Change procedure is supported across the Iur interface Drift RNC indicates support for HSDPA and HSUPA within its response to Radio Link Setup or Radio Link Addition messages HOPS parameters shown on previous slide are only applicable to drift RNC cells which are neighboured from the serving RNC Serving RNC starts uplink SIR Error measurements over the Iur Serving RNC can then use SIR Error measurement for the serving cell change procedure Channel Type Selection Serving RNC performs channel type selection for NRT and RT RAB if there are not any radio links under the serving RNC 6 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

Bit Rate Allocations Drift RNC does not check the bit rates allocated by the serving RNC against the following parameters: HSDPAinitialBitrateUL HSDPAInitialBRULStrNRT HSDPAminAllowedBitrateUL HSDPAMinBRULStrNRT Drift RNC checks the bit rates allocated by the serving RNC against the following parameters: HSDPAMaxBitrateUL Drift RNC uses the failure cause "UL Radio Resources not Available" if the uplink DCH return channel allocation is prevented by the HSDPAMaxBitrateUL parameter 7 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

MAC-d PDU Size Selection Serving RNC does not perform HS-DSCH MAC-d PDU size selection when the MAC-d flow is setup over the Iur MAC-d PDU size of 656 bits is always allocated for NRT data Drift RNC rejects the HS-DSCH MAC-d flow setup if the MAC-d PDU size of 656 bits is disabled in the base station Exception is that MAC-d PDU size of 336 bits is allocated for streaming Serving RNC does not change the currently allocated MAC-d PDU size when completing a serving cell change to a drift RNC cell Measurement Power Offset Drift RNC defines the Measurement Power Offset (MPO) for HSDPA Drift RNC signals the value to the Serving RNC when an HS-DSCH MAC-d flow is setup over the Iur Serving RNC signals the MPO to the UE 8 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

Maximum Iur Throughputs The MaxIurNRTHSDSCHBitRate and MaxIurNRTEDCHBitRate parameters can be used to limit the HSDPA and HSUPA throughputs across the Iur Configuring a value of 0 means that throughputs are not limited These parameters also limit the Nominal Bit Rate (NBR) across the Iur Name Range Default Description MaxIurNRTHSDSCHBitRate (IUR) 0 to kbps, step 128 kbps (0 kbps => not limited) 0 kbps Parameter defines the maximum bit rate of the NRT HS-DSCH MAC-d flow over Iurinterface restricted by the Serving RNC. Parameter defines the user bitrate of the NRT HS-DSCH MAC-d flow on RLC payload level excluding MAC-hs header, RLC header and padding. Name Range Default Description MaxIurNRTEDCHBitRate (IUR) 0 to 5760 kbps, step 128 kbps (0 kbps => not limited) 0 kbps Parameter defines the maximum bit rate of the NRT E-DCH MAC-d flow over Iurinterface. Parameter defines the user bitrate of the NRT E-DCH MAC-d flow signalled to the Drift RNC in E-DCH Maximum Bitrate IE. 9 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

Priorities over Iur (I) Serving RNC defines the following parameters for HSDPA and HSPA connections across the Iur Allocation/Retention Priority (ARP) Traffic Class (TC) Scheduling Priority Indicator (SPI) Drift RNC uses the ARP, TC and SPI when HSDPA and HSPA connections are established across the Iur Drift RNC defines the Traffic Handling Priority (THP) when Interactive Traffic Class HSDPA and HSPA connections are established across the Iur QoS priority mapping is used to define THP if HSPA QoS prioritisation is enabled in the DRNC. DRNC applies a reverse mapping based upon SPI value (using QoSPriorityMapping parameter) If HSPA QoS prioritisation is disabled, DRNC allocates a THP of 1 10 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

Priorities over Iur (II) HSPA QoS prioritisation is enabled in the DRNC cell (HSPAQoSEnabled): SPI value sent by the SRNC for RT traffic must be lower than or equal to the highest SPI value defined for that particular traffic class in DRNC If not, DRNC rejects HS-DSCH/E-DCH MAC-d flow setup over Iur SPI value sent by the SRNC for NRT PS data must be lower than or equal to the highest SPI value defined for any NRT PS traffic class in DRNC If not, DRNC rejects HS-DSCH/E-DCH MAC-d flow setup over Iur HSPA QoS prioritisation is disabled in the DRNC cell (HSPAQoSEnabled): If the SPI value sent by the SRNC is greater than zero, DRNC shall reject HS-DSCH / E-DCH MAC-d flow setup over Iur-interface In all of the above reject scenarios, the drift RNC uses the failure cause Requested Configuration not Supported 11 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

RT-over-RT and RT-over-NRT (I) RT-over-RT and RT-over-NRT actions can target HSDPA and HSUPA connections across the Iur DRNC uses priorities (SPI, ARP, TC) received from the SRNC during Radio Link Setup, Radio Link Addition or Radio Link Reconfiguration DRNC also uses the THP that it has generated The IurPriority parameter defines the priority of HS-DSCH and E-DCH MAC-d flows over the Iur relative to those controlled by the DRNC IurPriority = "Equal priority", DRNC does not distinguish MAC-d flows over Iur. Prioritisation is based upon SPI, ARP, TC and THP information IurPriority = "Higher Priority over Iur", within a traffic type (CS, RT PS or NRT PS) the DRNC targets candidates from own DRNC MAC-d flows. If there are no candidates in DRNC, MAC-d flows over Iur are targetted IurPriority = "Lower Priority over Iur", within a traffic type (CS, RT PS or NRT PS) the DRNC targets candidates from MAC-d flows over Iur. If there are no candidates over Iur, DRNC MAC-d flows are chosen. Regardless of the IurPriority parameter, DRNC shall choose the candidate for RT-over-RT or RT-over-NRT actions from the lowest possible traffic type 12 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

RT-over-RT and RT-over-NRT (II) Name Range Default Description IurPriority (RNC) 0 (Equal Priority), 1 (Higher Priority over Iur), 2 (Lower Priority over Iur) 0 Parameter defines how users over Iur-interface are handled in the Drift RNC during congestion. Drift RNC distinguishes users over Iur-interface when RT-over-RT, RT-over-NRT, pre-emption or overload actions are performed. Parameter is applicable to DCH users when Drift RNC performs Radio Link Congestion or Radio Link Pre-emption procedures over Iur-interface. If the value of the parameter is set to "Equal Priority", Drift RNC treats Iur users and Drift RNC users according to their existing QoS priorities. If the value of the parameter is set to "Higher Priority over Iur", Drift RNC gives Iur users higher priority than Drift RNC users. If the value of the parameter is set to "Lower Priority over Iur", Drift RNC gives Iur users lower priority than Drift RNC users. 13 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

Inter-Frequency Handover The following are supported across the Iur: HSDPA inter-frequency handover Immediate IMSI based HSPA inter-frequency handover The following are not supported across the Iur: HSPA capability based handover HSUPA compressed mode SRNC checks the licence for RAN1276 HSDPA inter-frequency handover. DRNC does not check the licence SRNC and DRNC checks the licence controlling the RAN1824 Inter-frequency Handover over Iur feature In the case of HS-DSCH and UL DCH, the HHoMaxAllowedBitrateUL parameter does not limit the triggering of compressed mode DRNC checks if HSDPA compressed mode is supported in the BTS by reading the BTSSupportForHSPACM parameter DRNC considers HSDPA inter-frequency handover as a critical handover 14 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

Channel Type Switching DCH to HSPA channel type switching is supported while active set cells belong to a drift RNC Channel type switch from DCH to HSPA is supported: DCH to HSDPA DCH to HSPA HSDPA to HSPA Channel type switch from HSPA to DCH is supported: HSDPA to DCH HSPA to HSDPA HSPA to DCH 15 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

Iur Transport QoS The Iub Transport QoS feature enables the TQM parameter object The TQM parameter object provides a mapping between SPI and transport QoS parameters The TQMIdIur parameter allows a TQM parameter set to be associated with each Iur connection Name Range Default Description TQMIdIur (IUR) 1 to 8, step 1, 0 (TQM not associated with Iur) 0 The TQM identification gives the reference to the TQM object used for the Iur connections. The TQM object defines the transport bearer prioritization mapping based on the air interface channel type and the radio network layer scheduling priority. ATM transport: The TQM defines the AAL2 Path Type mapping and AAL2 priority for the egress scheduling. IP Transport: The TQM defines the DSCP used for the IP packet marking at the Iur interface. 16 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

DSCP for HSPA Control Frames The HSDPAULCToDSCPIur parameter defines the Iur DSCP Per Hop Behaviour for the Frame Protocol uplink Control Frames associated with HSDPA The HSUPADLCToDSCPIur parameter defines the Iur DSCP Per Hop Behaviour for the Frame Protocol downlink Control Frames associated with HSUPA Name Range Default Description HSDPAULCToDSCPIur (IUR) 0 to 63, step 1 34 AF4 PHB (AF4, ) The "HSDPAULCToDSCPIur" parameter provides the HSDPA UL Frame Protocol Control traffic to DSCP mapping at Iur interface. The parameter is primarily used at the SRNC role and signalled to DRNC over the RNSAP in the TNL QoS IE. In the DRNC role the DSCP signalled over the RNSAP is being applied by default and if not present at RNSAP this parameter value is used for the HSDPA FP control traffic IP packet marking from DRNC to SRNC. Name Range Default Description HSUPADLCToDSCPIur (IUR) 0 to 63, step 1 34 AF4 PHB (AF4, ) The "HSUPADLCToDSCPIur" parameter provides the HSUPA DL Frame Protocol Control traffic to DSCP mapping at Iur interface. The parameter is used at the SRNC role for the HSUPA FP control traffic IP packet marking from SRNC to DRNC. 17 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training

HSDPA Maximum Data Frame Size The maxhsdpafpsizeforatmiur parameter defines the maximum Frame Protocol Data Frame size for transfer across the Iur The Data Frame size is limited to avoid segmentation at the IP layer of the drift RNC Iub (assuming the Iub is based upon IP) Name Range Default Description maxhsdpafpsizeforatmiur (IUR) 1 to 1472, step The maximum HS-DSCH FP size parameter defines the maximum FP size that can be delivered over the Iur interface. With ATM Iur the RNC limits the DL direction FP size according to this parameter in order to avoid IP fragmentation at the DRNC IP Iub interface. 18 Nokia Siemens Networks RU20 Feature Training
