3 Overview There is no way for the blind to access printed information at the same time sighted persons do. Braille It generally takes more than about 3 months to make a Braille book with 200 pages. OCR Software They are not perfect. Users have to scan each page by flatbed scanner. It takes long time to read even a book. We devised VOICEYE to enable visually impaired persons to access printed information 3

5 VOICEYE Technology Concept 1) Create VOICEYE symbol holding all text information of the page. 2) Scan VOICEYE symbol. 3) VOICEYE Reader converts all text information into voice. 6 What is VOICEYE? VOICEYE Technology 1) VOICEYE symbol is what we call 2D barcode that we use to encode encode various data, including text. 2) Standard size of the VOICEYE symbol is a 1.5cm- sided square (varies 1.2cm~1.8cm per side). 3) VOICEYE symbol is used like a paper diskette. 4) It is digital information printed on paper. 8 References 1. Law & Regulation regarding VOICEYE April 2008 : Anti-Discrimination against and Remedies for Persons with Disabilities Act came into effect. All information shall be made accessible to them by any technology including VOICEYE. 12 VOICEYE Products VOICEYE Mate Real-Time Text-To-Speech Reader This is a portable device specially designed and developed to convert text data into human-like speech. VOICEYE PC-Mate This consists of VOICEYE scanner and software. The scanner goes to PC. VOICEYE Maker This is software allows users to create their own VOICEYE symbol on MS-Word or QuarkXpress program. VOICEYE LIFE It is specially designed to help for visually impaired persons to identify products by scanning 1D barcode on them. 12

20 Distribution Channels VOICEYE Products KADO, a government supported organization, runs a project to provide assistive technology items to persons with disabilities every year. VOICEYE products has been provided by KADO since Korea Employment Promotion Agency for the Disabled has also provided our VOICEYE products to workers with visual disabilities for free since 2006 as long as they register in employment insurance. VOICEYE products have been selected as assistive technology items for visually impaired persons by Korean Government since
