8 Manual Test creation using MTSR A new approach to building Test Scripts through RQM without the need for writing the scripts A quick way to Author Tests, while reducing chances of Human error Provides mechanism to Capture Data or Image comparison information Provides standardization to the scripts RQM leverages RFT to auto-generate statements based on user actions on the application 8

9 Creating Manual Test from RQM RQM 4.0 enables your to create automated manual steps by providing a recording capability. While creating a new manual step, instead of typing the steps, user can select the record button available in the toolbar 9

10 Recording on the test machine Once the recorder is started from RQM, the browser where the RQM is running gets minimized and the Manual Test Script Recorder tool bar appears in the test machine. The recorder listens to every action performed by the user and generates a manual step for every step. It also captures the screen snapshot of the page and highlights the controls that are interacted during the recording. The recorder monitor shows the manual steps that are generated. The recorder also uploads the manual step and the screen snapshots to the RQM during recording. 10

11 Manual steps in RQM To see that the steps and images are uploaded to the RQM Manual script editor, pause the recorder and bring up the RQM browser that is minimized during the recording. Notice that the steps and the images appear in the Manual script. 11

15 Associating a automated script with RQM test script An automated functional test script can be associated with a RQM test script to execute the script from RQM. RQM Test script can be associated with a RQM Test case and the test case can be added to RQM Test plan. 15

16 Associating test resources to a test script The functional test script can be available from a shared location or local to the test machine. If the script are available in the shared location, then the resource will be copied to the test machine during execution 16

19 Run the test case To run a test case on the test machine. RFT Adapter should be started and connected to the RQM. The adapter gets the request from RQM to run the test. The adapter does the job of execution of the script in the test machine uploads the status and logs back to RQM. 19

20 Execution Status RQM show the process of the execution in the test case execution page. Once the execution is complete, user can see the detailed report of the execution by clicking the Show Result button. 20

23 Keywords in RQM RQM helps simplify test automation by allowing testers and domain experts to define and select keywords. Users can easily create manual tests leveraging reusable keywords and keywords that have automation by leveraging IBM Rational Functional Tester (RFT) framework. 23

25 Connecting to RQM from RFT to view keywords The keywords created in RQM can be automated with an RFT. During the execution of the manual script that contain keywords, the automated keywords are run on the test machine. To automated a keyword, user need to first connect to RQM from RFT keyword view 25

26 Viewing the keywords from RFT The keyword view list all the keywords defined in RQM for the specified project area. You can automate the keyword by recording an automated script using RFT 26
