4 The Free Time System (Busytime) Calendars and Rooms and Resources use the busytime system The database creates itself when a server is set up initially Busytime.nsf the template is busytime.ntf When a server is clustered, this database gets renamed clubusy.nsf There should be one record per user / room / resource 4

5 The Free Time System Two tasks populate busytime.nsf Schedule Manager Rooms and Resources Manager Each task monitors the server for any profile documents containing $busyname fields Busytime stores all instances of booked time The operation is nearly instant when a booking occurs Look-ups are done by Domino within each server 5

6 How to Read Busytime.nsf There are several server commands that will show you what you need to know Tell Sched Show User Name/OU/O Or Tell RnRMgr Show Roomname/Sitename Tell Sched List User Name/OU/O Or Tell RnRMgr List Roomname/Sitename Tell Sched Check User Name/OU/O Or Tell RnRMgr Check Roomname/Sitename Tell Sched Validate User Name/OU/O Or Tell RnRMgr Validate Roomname/Sitename 6

7 The Show Command For A User/Room Tell Sched Show User Name/OU/O Tell RnRMgr Show RoomName/SiteName This shows when the user/room has booked time What Show does It looks at busytime.nsf and lists the entries that it has for that user/room It prints to the console and the log.nsf 7

9 The List Command For A User/Room Tell Sched List User Name/OU/O Note: The Tell Sched List command can also be used for a room/resource Tell RnRMgr List RoomName/SiteName List shows the settings from the profile documents It shows what the server sees 9

10 The Check Command For A User/Room Tell Sched Check User Name/OU/O Tell RnRMgr Check RoomName/SiteName Check compares all listings in a calendar against the listings in busytime.nsf It changes busytime to match what the calendar shows This command will correct most discrepancies 10

11 The Validate Command For A User/Room Tell Sched Validate User Name/OU/O Tell RnRmgr Validate RoomName/SiteName If the user is listed in the directory correctly Validate waits for new calendar entries and processes them From the last time the validate command is issued It does NOT pick up existing entries Use this command to place new rooms and users into busytime.nsf Each time you issue the command the time is updated The command you really need in most cases is Check Always issue the check command after you issue the validate command 11

12 Symptoms of Problems with Free Time User is Not listed in the Busytime/clubusy.nsf database User's freetime appears busy but should be available User's freetime displays grey (No info) Some appointments are in busytime.nsf, others not Can be users or rooms Duplicate Entries for the same user/room in Busytime/clubusy 12

13 Error: A user is not listed in busytime First, try Tell sched validate User Name/OU/O This may be enough to add the user Follow immediately by Tell Sched Check User Name/OU/O to add the existing entries If this doesn't work, check: The person document Cannot have a forwarding address or Calendar Domain listed Must have the correct home server and mail file name Busytime/clubusy works for one server or cluster only The Domino directory view ($Users) A surprising number of problems are solved by updating the view index load updall names.nsf -t($users) -r 13

14 User's freetime appears busy but should be available The user had created an All Day Event from 4am-8pm, this caused his busytime to display as busy all day. 14

15 User's Freetime displays grey (No info) The user had no entry in the busytime.nsf/clubusy.nsf database, causing the error. 15

16 Some appointments are in busytime.nsf, other entries are not.. Can be users or rooms For a user, Tell Sched check User Name/OU/O For a room, Tell RnRMgr check Roomname/Sitename This should add back any entries that are in the calendar but missing from the busytime.nsf 16

17 Duplicate Entries for the same user/room in busytime/clubusy Check for another copy of the busytime/clubusy on all servers. If there is an old replica or a renamed copy, delete it! Technote : Duplicate Person, Room and Resource documents found in clubusy.nsf 17

19 Repairing the Busytime database There are times you really need to rebuild busytime/clubusy database It is important to rebuild busytime/clubusy database properly.
