5 Software Needed for Today Download Virtual Box (if not already installed) Download and Install Softphones (get both) X-Lite - html Zoiper -

6 Pre-work 1. Download CentOS 6.5 base image a. org/centos-6.5-i386-minimal.ova.torrent b. Provided by c. username/password: root/reverse 2. Put base image in Bridged Adapter mode 3. Disable USB 2.0 support 4. Start Image (click ok to take all defaults)

7 Pre-work 5. Login to image a. username/password: root/reverse 6. Obtain ip address a. execute ifconfig 7. Login via ssh from your host computer a. execute ssh from above> b. username/password: root/reverse

8 Lab 1: Install FreeSwitch 1. Use YUM Package Manager a. Install the FreeSwitch Repo (supports FreeSwitch 1.2 currently) b. rpm -Uvh c. yum install --nogpgcheck freeswitch-config-vanilla i. click y when prompted 2. Validate the install a. execute fs_cli b. enter show status c. If it says FreeSWITCH is ready then the install was successful!

9 Lab 1: Install FreeSwitch 3. Add Firewall Rules - allows SIP/RTP traffic inbound a. execute the following commands: iptables -I INPUT 2 -p udp --dport j ACCEPT iptables -I INPUT 2 -p udp --dport j ACCEPT iptables -I INPUT 2 -p udp --dport j ACCEPT service iptables save

10 Lab 2: Register a Softphone 1. Register Zoiper phone to Extension 1000 a. Start Zoiper b. Add new sip account with the following info: name: FS-1000 Domain: <ipaddress of Virtual Machine> Username: 1000 Password: 1234 c. Click Register to register the extension 2. Call Yourself a. Dial extension 1000 b. If you see the call come inbound then internal calling is work! Congrats!

11 Lab 3: Register a SIP Provider and Make Outbound Calls 1. Configure the SIP Provider a. cd /etc/freeswitch/sip_profiles/external b. vi detroitpbx.xml c. copy this into the file: <include> <gateway name="detroitpbx"> <param name="proxy" value="proxy.detroitpbx.com" /> <param name="register" value="false" /> <param name="from-user" value=" "/> <param name="username" value="xxxxxxxxxx" /> <param name="password" value="xxxxxxxxxx" /> <action application="set" data="effective_caller_id_number= "/> <param name="caller-id-in-from" value="false"/> </gateway> </include> d. save the file

Create Dialplan to route call outbound a. vi /etc/freeswitch/dialplan/default.xml b. add the following after </context> (location is important) <!-- Dial any 10 digit number ( ) or 1+10 number ( ) here --> <extension name="long Distance - detroitpbx"> <condition field="destination_number" expression="^(1{0,1}\d{10})$"> <action application="set" data="effective_caller_id_number= "/> <!-- If your provider does not provide ringback (180 or 183) you may simulate ringback by uncommenting the following line. --> <!-- action application="ringback" /--> <action application="bridge" data="sofia/gateway/detroitpbx/$1"/> </condition> </extension> c. save the file

13 Lab 3: Register a SIP Provider and Make Outbound Calls 3. Reload Freeswitch a. execute fs_cli b. execute reloadxml c. execute sofia profile external restart 4. Make a Test Outbound Call a. Start Zoiper b. Enter a US formated phone for example c. Your phone should be ringing. Congrats :-)
