2 INTRODUCTION PRODUCT DESCRIPTION A MODULAR SYSYEM FOR A VERSATILE OFFICE ENVIRONMENT The modular Gispen TM furniture programme was designed by Peter de Boer and built to withstand intensive usage. Gispen TM is ideally suited for dynamic organisations that set high demands when it comes to multifunctional office furnishings, without losing sight of sustainability. The programme offers both single and multi-surface workstations, modular tables and conference tables. Whether you require compact desks, complete workstations or even a communal workstation, Gispen TM will allow you to create your ideal office environment. Gispen TM is easy to set up, can be positioned very quickly, is simple to expand and, thanks to its carefully conceived construction, can be relocated effortlessly. Dynamic Organisations and users are subject to change. Offering flexibility is therefore of great importance, which is also one of the key principles of the TM programme. At the same time stability is also very valuable to us. A good design speaks for itself. Functional A well-considered and functional design is conducive to a healthy work posture, and will be so for every user and their unique requirements. Single workstations The Gispen TM desk is available with two round or square T-shaped table legs and a chipboard tabletop with a melamine veneer, forming an assembly of sustainable materials. The steel structure, tabletop and frame are easy to assemble into a complete workstation and the height adjustment is also very straightforward. Would you like to add your own personal touch? Accessories such as trays and monitor arms can be attached without any difficulty. Dividing screens can also be added to the sides of Dual workstations. The adjustable top can be quickly adjusted to the desired working height. From 64 to 130 cm in 16 seconds, for a fluent transition from a sitting to a standing work posture. Three available widths to choose from: 160 x 80 cm, 180 x 80 cm and 200 x 80 cm. 6 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION PRODUCT VARIANTS HAVING A MEETING AT THE GISPEN TM CONFERENCE TABLE The Gispen TM conference table completes the extensive programme. The programme offers a range of different looks and can be used in many different ways. The tables have round, square, or rectangular surfaces. The round tables feature round legs, a disc base or, depending on the size of the table, a 3 or 4-legged frame. TNO s research into the Gispen Sit-stand conference table shows that stand-up meetings shorten the duration of the meeting by 34%, whilst retaining the quality of decisi on-making and results. This represents a potenti al cost saving of 10 billion euros. The Gispen Sit-Stand conference table allows you to conduct your meeting in a noticeably more efficient and effective way. 8 THE DESIGNER THE DESIGNER PETER DE BOER I THINK THAT GISPEN TM WILL EVENTUALLY DEVELOP INTO THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PROGRAMME IN THE HISTORY OF THE COMPANY Peter de Boer (1952) studied Mechanical Engineering at a vocational school and Industrial Design at the Rietveld Academy. He worked as a freelance designer for a short while before he became affiliated with Gispen, for which he has been working as a product designer since the 1980s. What do you stand for as a designer? I consider quality and sustainability to be of vital importance. My philosophy is different from that of tempting clients with a continuous stream of new products. I believe that clients will continue to come back when your products have proven to withstand the test of time, retaining their quality and value. Gispen celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. This incredible accomplishment was achieved because we offer lasting quality, which I am proud of partaking in as a designer. What does the Gispen brand mean to you as a designer? When I think of the Gispen brand, I think of continuity, quality and sustainability. What is the philosophy behind TM? There was a demand for a versatile, modular and cost-effective table programme. This demand, as well as a small investment, eventually led to the realisation of the Gispen TM line. I believe that Gispen TM will eventually develop into the most successful programme in the history of the company. A day at the office I commute between Amsterdam and Culemborg. And for decades, I used to do so by train, but now I travel by car. As a result, I often find myself standing still in traffic, which gives me more time to think. Because that is what a designer does most of the time; he thinks about his next design. A lot of thinking has already taken place before anything gets drafted. In Culemborg, one of my daily routines is to assist the factory workers in manufacturing my designs. I will also have a meeting or two with colleagues from, for instance, the sales department and I am also on the road quite a lot. I am practically the company s historian because of my long service record here. I know all about the products we have created in the past, the materials we use today and the various possibilities we have on offer. I can therefore participate in business meetings with (potential) clients, which I really enjoy taking part in. A WORD OF ADVICE FROM THE DESIGNER Use the know-how that is already at hand and learn from it. Be creative and think outside the box in our search for answers.
