Introduction Forza Horizon 4 is one of the most anticipated driving games of 2018.

3 Introduction Forza Horizon 4 is one of the most anticipated driving games of Building upon the success of prior titles in this long running series, Forza Horizon 4 introduces many interesting new elements that greatly improve our gaming experience. Driving in Forza Horizon 4 creates a truly immersive experience with an impressive day, night schedule mixed with its varying seasons and weather conditions. Each of the four seasons provide you with a unique experience to utilize a full range of automobiles, and driving conditions. Forza Horizon 4 s open world allows for seamless travel across its vast in game environment. Roads as far as the eye can see stretch across Forza s world, with no loading screens or pauses in-between areas. Forza Horizon 4 is a prime example of AMD s ability to greatly reduce the delay in communication between the GPU and the CPU through the use of multi-threaded command buffer recording. By executing commands issued by both AMD s drivers and API instructions to any available CPU threads and cores, any and all available cores are capable of simultaneous communication with AMD graphics cards. This can provide a smoother gaming experience with latency between instruction sets being greatly reduced, allowing for a more immersive gaming experience. Additionally, using forward clustered shading technology, Forza Horizon 4 can greatly reduce the load on your GPU. Using hardware multisampling and lots of dynamic lights, forward clustered shading doesn t suffer from any of the restrictions on materials that other techniques, such as deferred shading, suffer from. Take lead in one of the many cars, trucks and more in Forza Horizon 4 and drive cross country, in one of the most ambitious driving games yet.

4 How to Benchmark Forza Horizon 4 Forza Horizon 4 includes a built-in benchmark. The results found throughout this guide were gathered using this test method. The built-in benchmark s purpose is intended to display some of the game s more challenging render loads in order to accurately reflect gameplay performance. The following table compares results from the built-in benchmark against a sequence of manual gameplay tests within the in game tutorial. The built-in benchmark tends to have somewhat lower performance than the in-game results due to the fact that the benchmark exercises some of the more challenging content in the game. Configuring the Graphics Options The game s display settings can be accessed via the Options menu provided inside the main menu screen.

5 From here, select Video from the list of provided options. Inside the Video settings page, you are able to modify the game s Full Screen mode (On, and Off), Dynamic Optimization (Very Low, Low, Medium, High, Ultra), enable Vertical Synchronization (On, and Off), and Show FPS (On, and Off).

6 If additional settings such as MSAA, FXAA, Particle Effects Quality and more are required, pressing Page Down will provide you with a full list of Advanced features. Note: Utilizing the Advanced features tab, will disable the Dynamic Optimization option. After the desired settings are selected, press X to save and Escape to return to the previous screen. The benchmark will run for approximately 2-3 minutes.

7 Running the Built-In Benchmark Once in the Options menu, you can select the Benchmark button run the built-in benchmark. The benchmark will run for approximately 2-3 minutes. Once complete the benchmark result will be printed on screen. Press Enter to restart the game, or Y to run the next benchmark.

8 1920x1080 Resolution Enthusiast Class Products As we can see many of the enthusiast class GPUs will be more than capable playing Forza Horizon 4 using the ULTRA preset at 1080p. Many of the popular GPUs on the market can utilize the Ultra preset at this resolution while maintaining a very good framerate. 12 High Dynamic Range (HDR) Forza Horizon 4 supports High Dynamic Range rendering (or HDR). This technique allows the game to preserve details in scenes that may otherwise be lost due to limited contrast ratios. It allows for bright scenes to be much brighter, dark scenes to be truly dark, and details will be visible in both, compared to srgb. If you do have an HDR-capable display attached you can find the HDR toggle within the Windows Display settings. Please note that the HDR option is only available when an HDR-capable display is attached.

Inside the HDR Settings, you can further configure the HDR whitepoint and HDR brightness. Please note all data was gathered with a HDR whitepoint of 400, and HDR brightness of 50.

14 HDR Performance Cost Below we have a comparison with HDR enabled between a Vega 64 and a GTX As you can see, the cost of enabling HDR on AMD GPU s is minimal compared to the GTX 1080 s.
