2 The Future Electronics Wireless Lighting & Control Reference Design integrates wireless communication, analog and sensor technologies from Freescale Semiconductor with solid-state LED-based lighting solutions from Future Lighting Solutions to form a low-cost and flexible wireless control solution enabling accelerated application to a multitude of markets. MC3x.4 GHz System in a Package Freescale Semiconductor s second-generation ZigBee compliant platform combines an IEEE compliant radio and an 8-bit MCU into a 9 x 9 x mm 64-pin LGA package, creating the first ZigBee compliant System in a Package (SiP). The MC3x Family encompasses a series of devices that are memory scalable to fit the needs of the application. 4 MPR03/ Low-Power Proximity Sensors Freescale Semiconductor s MPR03 and MPR03 proximity touch sensor controllers simplify design in the user interface of choice touch sensing. Embedded developers require design simplicity and power conservation in a small form factor for compact system designs. The MPR03x capacitive touch sensors replace mechanical buttons, switches and other moving parts that typically wear out and are less reliable. 5 Future Electronics Exclusive Wireless Lighting & Control Reference Design The Wireless Lighting & Control Reference Design from Future Electronics illustrates the power of wireless control in solid-state lighting applications thru a multi-fixture configuration supporting color mixing and dimming of RGBW High-Brightness LEDs. The user can independently control each LED on each Remote Light Board, achieving separate colors on each (as shown below) or broadcasting a desired color from one Remote Light Board to all others on the network. Controller Board unit This handheld device allows the user to wirelessly control the Remote Light Boards on the network via the attached Transceiver daughter card. The Controller motherboard features the MPR03 and MPR03 capacitive proximity sensors communicating touch and rotary electrode inputs to the Transceiver Board, as well as a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery and USB-sourced MC34673 charging solution, and 3 indicator LEDs. The 4 source light output is mixed by Polymer Optics 30 Mixer Reflector designed specifically for the Rebel LEDs.
