Overflowing of wastes in the garbage bins causes many problems to the nearby peoples and also pollutes the environment. Finding the garbage bins whether it is filled or not is very difficult. For that we introduce our system to solve this problem. It will save the time and it also prevents the environment from pollution. This method is used automatically to identify the level of bins and the send data to the cloud and display it using webpage or app. Microcontroller is used to process the data from the ultrasonic sensor and the NODE MCU is used to send the data to the cloud. Garbage level can be detected by using the ultrasonic sensor and the GPS is used to find out the exact location of the bin and that information can be send to the truck driver. With the help of that message, truck driver can identify the location and the status of the bins. This method also has temperature sensor to find out the temperature of the garbage bin and the information is passed to nearby fire station using GSM if there is any fire accidents. Introduction Due to increase in population of India it also leads to increase in the wastes also. India faces major environmental challenges associated with inadequate waste collection, transport and disposal. In the current scenario more wastes are generated in urban area and this impact on the environment and public health. This project automatically detects the bin location and if the bin is fully filled the truck driver can know the location of it. Usually we need many man powers, by this garbage management system we reduce the man power with the help of embedded system is interfaced with IOT. The embedded device is a low cost device used for automation. In each city more number of bins are located in it. Everyday truck driver roam around all the places to check the garbage bins but sometimes bins are not fully filled due to population around it. By this method we can know the location of 80% filled bin using this information truck driver can create an optimized path for it. This system is cost effective. 2. Literature Survey Previous related works are [1], [2], [3]. S.S.Navghane, M.S.Killedar, Dr.V.M.Rohokale These dustbins are interfaced with microcontroller based system having IR wireless systems along with central system showing current status of garbage, on mobile web browser with html page by Wi-Fi. Hence the status will be updated on to the html page. Major part of our project depends upon the working of the Wi-Fi module; essential for its implementation. The main aim of this project is to reduce human resources and efforts along with the enhancement of a smart city vision. Ashima Bajaj, Sumanth[2]. This method is advanced in which garbage management is automated. This project Garbage Monitoring system using IOT is a very innovative system which will help to keep the cities clean. This system makes use of microcontroller, LCD screen, zigbee methodology for sending data. Ultra sonic sensors are used to detect the level of garbage collected in the bins. The LCD screen is used to display the level of garbage collected in the bins. This system monitors all the dustbins located throughout the city and compare it with the garbage bins depth. The ultrasonic sensors are used for detection of the dustbins status. The fire sensors are used for detection of fire in the dustbins. This project presents cost effective monitoring solution with ATmega16A microcontroller. When the level of the dustbin reaches the threshold limit, the device will transmit the level along with the unique ID provided to that dustbin. These details can be accessed by the concern 751

2 authorities from their place with the help of internet and an immediate action can be made to clean the dustbins. 3. Proposed System The components used in the project are ultrasonic sensor, GPS, GSM, Temperature sensor, Arduino UNO and Node MCU. Garbage Monitoring System has ultrasonic sensor and it is used to detect the level of the bin. The level of the garbage bin can be measured by means of centimetre. The processor process the data from the bin and send it to the cloud and display the level using user interface like webpage and app. GPS is used to detect the location of bin and it is displayed on user interface. Temperature sensor is used to detect the fire inside the bin. As the temperature reaches the critical value, it will send the message to the nearest fire station using GSM. nearby fire station through SMS that some accident has detected and send exact location. Ultrasonic sensor Ultrasonic sensor is used to measure the level of bin. Ultrasonic ranging module HC - SR04 provides 2cm - 400cm non-contact measurement function, the ranging accuracy can reach to 3mm. The modules includes ultrasonic transmitters, receiver and control circuit. 5. Block Diagram 4. System Overview The sensor based automation system is developed to automate the detection of bin level and bins location. The proposed system uses one ultrasonicsens or to identify the level of bin and GPS is to detect the location of bin. The system also find out the fire inside the bin after fire is detected GSM used to send msg to nearest fire station. Sensors, GSM, GPS are programmed using Arduino and Node MCU micro-controller. Arduino Arduino is open source software. Arduino Uno is a microcontroller, ATmega328Pcontain in it. It has 14 digital i/o pins and 6 analog input pin, a 16 MHz quartz crystal, a USB connection, a power jack and a reset button. Simply connect to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started. Embedded C program is used for coding. Temperature Sensor Temperature sensor is used to measure the temperature in the bin. It reach critical level of temperature alert sms is send to nearby fire station. GPS Global Positioning System is a tracking device, that uses the Global Positioning System to determine and track its precise location, and hence that of its carrier, at intervals. GPS is used to find out the location of any place with the help of satellite. GPS give exact latitude and longitude value of bin place. GSM Global System for Mobile communication has been used in this system for the case if any fire accident has detected. The purpose of GSM in this system is to alert Figure 1. The waste accumulated in the bin directly affects the environment and also affects the people s health. To overcome this problem, this paper provides a practical solution to help the city waste management system. This project is helpful for the 753
