2 Laptop Purchase Program COMPARE NDP Program VS. BYOL Bring Your Own Laptop **All Students are required to have a Laptop** BYOL BYOL Summer Laptop Camp Laptop Hardware Software MANDATORY Sign up begins on March 11th at 9:00 a.m. Must attend one 3-day Summer camp 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. NO COST One accidental damage claim per contractual year, including liquid spills, cracked screens, drops and more! Next day on-site repair for covered Dell hardware by certified Dell personnel. Immediate loaner laptop replacement at no additional cost. All Software Pre-installed, Configured and Tested on NDP-program laptops including Office 365. MANDATORY Sign up begins on March 11th at 9:00 a.m. Must attend one 3-day Summer camp 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. NO COST No laptop hardware support provided. Help Desk will assist only with Wi-Fi connectivity issues to the student BYOL wireless network. Loaner laptops will be provided for 5 school days at no cost with proof that repair service has been initiated. Weekly fees will be incurred after 5 days. No software will be installed on BYOL devices Off campus, students may download the Microsoft Office Suite on their BYOL devices through their NDP / Office 365 Blazers account. Instructions will be provided at Laptop Camp. Loaner Program NDP Help Desk NDP's Help Desk will provide a loaner laptop any time that the student brings in her NDPprogram laptop for service or repair. Loaners are pre-configured with NDP's software so no time is wasted during the transition period. NDP Help Desk technicians are available from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and during many school holidays. Support includes all hardware and software questions. Technicians are knowledgable and certified to support the Dell computers purchased through the NDP program. Loaners will be provided for up to 5 school days with proof that the BYOL is under repair. Weekly fees will be incurred after the initial 5 days. NDP Help Desk technicians are available from 7:30 a.m - 3:30 p.m. and during many school holidays. Support includes ensuring access to the NDP BYOL wireless network system and questions regarding web-based products, like school databases and Microsoft Office 365.

3 NDP Laptop Information Sheet Class of 2023 Important Reminder: If you are purchasing a laptop through NDP, the laptop purchase must occur between April 15th April 30th, Information regarding ordering procedures will be sent to parents the first week of April. All Upper Level students are required to have a laptop computer, either purchased through Notre Dame Preparatory School s laptop program or a laptop which meets the minimum specifications listed in this document. Technology Fee: The Upper Level Annual Technology Fee of $ will be charged to NDP s tuition bill each year for both families who purchase through the NDP program and those who choose to Bring-Their-Own- Laptop. This fee helps cover costs associated with NDP s support, as well as software licensing costs, classroom technologies and infrastructure enhancements for academic curriculum. These include but are not limited to: Microsoft agreement through Maryland Education Enterprise Consortium (MEEC) This agreement entitles enrolled NDP students use of the full suite of Office 365 products On-site NDP Help Desk support for software and configuration issues. Laptop Camp and Orientation session at NDP for training on all major software and NDP-specific network resources, as well as laptop stewardship The use of NDP s secure wireless network as well as internal network resources, including online applications such as , LMS (Learning Management System), and library databases. Laptop Pricing: This year, NDP is excited to offer three different models for purchase through the NDP-sponsored vendor, edutechu. Prices are located in the laptop option chart (located in this packet) which includes device specifications and Dell 4-year warranty information. How to Order NDP-Program Laptop with included 4-year device warranty: For your convenience, NDP and edutechu have teamed up to provide online ordering for your daughter s laptop from April 15 th April 30 th, The link to the order page will be posted on the School s website where you will have the option to select one of three supported Dell machines. Payments may be made with American Express, Visa or Mastercard. If you wish to pay with check, please contact NDP s IT Department (contact information at the end of this document). All laptops ordered through NDP s program will be delivered to the school and configured to integrate with our network. Your daughter will receive her laptop during her scheduled summer Laptop Camp and Orientation. *Dell Warranty and Accidental Damage coverage is valid until May 15 th, 2023

4 NDP Laptop Information Sheet Class of 2023 Warranty: Dell Complete Care service is included to offer peace-of-mind for systems exposed to highrisk usage and environments such as classroom settings. According to industry standard, the Dell warranty covers one accidental damage incident per contractual year. Examples of this type of damage include: liquid spills, drops, falls and other collisions, electrical surge and cracked screens. If more than one incident occurs in a contractual year, the family will assume the repair costs for that second incident. Examples of estimated potential fees, including parts and labor would be: Cracked Display - $320 Bottom Plastics and Palm Rest - $365 Bottom Plastics only - $233 Please note that intentional damage or damage due to theft of loss will not be covered under this agreement; theft or loss would fall under your homeowner s insurance policy. Bring Your Own Laptop program: Please refer to the Bring-Your-Own-Laptop (BYOL) minimum requirements listed later in this document. Please note, for our BYOL users the NDP Help Desk cannot perform hardware repairs or Operating System reinstallation (due to virus). We strongly recommend purchasing a Hardware warranty which includes accidental coverage along with your BYOL device for the full four years at NDP. All machines purchased through the NDP program have this type of warranty for peace-of-mind coverage. Questions?
