4 1 Product Overview SDL Studio GroupShare is the collaboration hub for small and medium-sized groups of project managers and translators/reviewers, providing the ability to share translation projects, translation memories and terminology in a flexible and efficient way between the team, regardless of their location. SDL Studio GroupShare incorporates: Project Server (new) for sharing translation projects. TM Server for sharing translation memories. MultiTerm Server for sharing terminology. 5 2 What s New SDL Studio GroupShare is a new product for sharing Studio projects, translation memories, and termbases. It combines the TM Server and MultiTerm Server products, and introduces a new module, Project Server, for sharing projects created in SDL Trados Studio. The Project Server module is a new module. The TM Server module is an upgrade from TM Server 2009 SP3. The MultiTerm Server module is an upgrade from MultiTerm Server 2009 SP Single GroupShare platform All modules of GroupShare have a common shared infrastructure, which can be managed through one central user interface. Other features specific to each module can also be managed through SDL Trados Studio, MultiTerm Desktop or MultiTerm Administrator applications. 2.2 Project Server (new) This new licensable module introduces the ability to share projects in addition to TMs, with automatic tracking of file versions and statistics. Server projects are stored online and allow Studio users to collaborate on translation projects in a more efficient and centralized way. The Project Server module requires TM Server module. 2.3 Enhanced security Security enhancements were made to the server platform based on feedback from TM Server 2009 SP3 and MultiTerm Server 2009 SP3 customers. 2.4 Performance, stability, and robustness enhancements Enhancements were made to performance of the common infrastructure and TM Server and MultiTerm Server modules. These enhancements improve the performance, stability, and robustness of the system. 2.5 Easier product activation New licensing technology makes it easier to activate your product. We now use product codes to activate and deactivate from within the product so there is no need to install a Licensing Server. There is a 30 day trial period to facilitate deployment testing. 6 3 Installation 3.1 Prerequisites GroupShare runs on the following platforms: Windows 2003 Server, SP2, with IIS 6. Windows 2008 Server SP2, with IIS 7. Windows 2008 Server R2, with IIS 7.5. Windows 7 Professional with IIS 7.5. For more information on the prerequisites for installation, see the SDL Studio GroupShare installation guide at producthelp.sdl.com/sdl%20studio GroupShare/en/guides/GroupShare%20Installation%20guide.pdf 3.2 Install and upgrade process Ensure that you have administrator rights and that you have no other software running whilst installing the software. A full list of the software, including third party software installed with this application, is listed in the SDL Studio GroupShare installation guide. 7 Module Applicable Compatible Products TM Server SDL Trados Studio 2011 SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP3 SDL Global AMS 2010 SP2 3.4 Supported releases On this release of SDL Studio GroupShare, we will continue to support SDL TM Server 2009 SP3. As an exception to SDL policy, we also confirm continued support for the SDL TM 2007 Oracle version and MultiTerm 2007 Server for TMS, TeamWorks and Oracle, which we consider as mature (and not yet retired) products. Mature releases are still supported. Hotfixes to all three generations are released when required and service packs at the discretion of SDL. With the next major release of SDL Studio GroupShare, we will consider moving all supported 2007 products to a retired state. Retired means that this release only qualifies for limited technical assistance subject to the availability of trained personnel and resources. No further service packs or hotfixes will be issued. Changes in support for databases This release of SDL Studio GroupShare does not support SQL The next release of SDL Studio GroupShare will support Oracle databases. 8 4 Resolved Issues Description Issues with the installation When installing TM Server on Windows 2003, the installation program now checks to identify whether ASP.NET is enabled in Website extensions. When installing TM Server on Windows 2008 or Windows 7, the installation program now checks that IIS is properly configured. When installing the SDL Server application server, the installation program now checks that the Application Server role is installed in Windows. The installation program now fully supports installation on a case-sensitive SQL Server. Can now successfully (re)install when the existing databases contains service user as database owner. The installation program now allows the user to correct password for runtime DB user if it was incorrectly entered. The installation program now sets the does not expire clause for the password when creating the SDL Web User account. The installation no longer fails because of a timing conflict between SQL Server installation and SDL Server installation processes. TM Server installer now succeeds when the SQL Server has offline databases The installation program now includes Microsoft patches to update Visual Studio 2005/Visual Studio 2008 alongside SDL Server releases. User management and permissions issues Windows authentication now succeeds for domain users with domain names containing dots or fully qualified domain names. MultiTerm roles in TM Server no longer have unnecessary TM Server permissions. Case-sensitive databases are now properly supported for user management: o o User passwords can be changed using the web UI. Windows authentication no longer fails. Log on with uppercase characters in the username no longer fails with "invalid credentials" error. SDL Studio GroupShare - Release Notes Page 8

9 Description Program failure and performance issues Adding a user does not cause Microsoft Silverlight to fail. Deleting a TM now clears all deleted references to templates. Creating a TM no longer causes error: 'Culture Not Supported'. Refreshing User Management screen no longer causes program to fail. Deleting a container no longer causes program to hang. After import of a file, opening Home screen no longer fails. Fixed performance issues using server-based TMs for batch tasks. Fixed performance issues and memory leak with Microsoft Silverlight client. Running as user without database access no longer causes User Import Tool to fail. Other issues Help page can now be found when using non-english system. Can no longer create multiple resource groups with the same path string. SDL System table can now be shared between different SDL application services. Import of abbreviations, ordinal followers, and variables using a file with blank lines is now correct. Adding forward slashes to location no longer returns unexpected database queries results. SDL Studio GroupShare - Release Notes Page 9

Description During the GroupShare components installation you may be incorrectly prompted to reboot the computer. You should not reboot; just continue the installation. (However, if you are prompted to reboot during installation of the prerequisites, you should do so.) If a project includes a server-based termbase and the termbase s server is offline, after you add a file-based termbase, this added termbase also remains inactive. If you enter invalid characters in User details>phone number in MultiTerm Administrator, the User Management>Edit User dialog box of GroupShare may malfunction. A user account with a fully qualified domain name from TM Server 2009 or MultiTerm Server 2009, who upgrades to GroupShare, cannot log on to GroupShare (from the browser or from Studio). Users working offline with server projects may be prompted to log on multiple times. In GroupShare you can enter a user account with apostrophes. This causes MultiTerm Administrator to crash when you specify that the user can access the termbase. The size allowed for user details in GroupShare is greater than the size allowed in MultiTerm.
