3 Install Manual SonicDICOM PACS is software that combines the capabilities of DICOM Server with Web browser based DICOM Viewer. This document describes overview of SonicDICOM PACS and instructions of installation. Version history Version Date Description 2.0 December 14, Overview of software SonicDICOM PACS is software that combines the capabilities of DICOM Server with Web browser based DICOM Viewer. 1.1 DICOM Server It can connect with multiple modalities and can save data of taken images. It can connect with not only SonicDICOM PACS' DICOM Viewer but also third party's DICOM Viewer, and it can browse saved data. There is no limitation for the number of modalities that can be connected. Each connection will be processed in parallel. 1.2 DICOM Viewer SonicDICOM PACS' Viewer is Web based. It does not require any License fee for each computer terminals. There is no limitation for the number of available DICOM Viewers. Accessing URL by Chrome, Firefox, and other Web browser enables you to use a DICOM Viewer from every computer terminals in same network. You do not need to install DICOM Viewer software to each computer terminals or not need to add plug-in on Web browser. Also, this DICOM Viewer is designed to be simply integrated with Web applications such as EMR, HIS and RIS via URL. 1.3 NOTE SonicDICOM PACS is not authorized as a program of medical equipment. Please be aware this software cannot be used for diagnosis purpose in countries or regions where need approvals to use it for diagnosis. 3

4 2. Limitation of Trial Edition Free Trial Edition is limited that the number of savable Studies is 30 and the number of creatable Accounts is 5. There is no limitation for all available features. 3. Supported Modalities and Types of Images SonicDICOM PACS supports the following modalities. Computed Radiography (CR) Digital X-Ray (DX) Computed Tomography (CT) Magnetic Resonance (MR) Positron Emission Tomography PET-CT (PT) Mammography (MG) Ultrasound (US) Endoscope (ES) X-Ray Angiographic (XA) Radio Fluoroscopy (RF) Nuclear Medicine (NM) Radiation Therapy (RT) Secondary Capture (SC) SonicDICOM PACS can handle the following types of DICOM images. Monochromatic and color Static images and dynamic sequences Uncompressed and compressed (RLE Lossless, JPEG Lossy, JPEG Lossless, JPEG 2000 Lossy, JPEG 2000 Lossless) 4

System Requirements 4.1 Minimum Hardware Requirements HDD: 5 GB of available hard disk space CPU: 1 GHz or faster processor RAM: 512 MB 4.2 Recomended Hardware Requirements HDD: For OS space, SSD is used. 6 4.4 Supported Web browsers It needs a modern browser such as the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Internet Explorer Required Software To run SonicDICOM PACS, Microsoft.NET Framework is required on a PC that SonicDICOM PACS is installed. You can install it through Windows Update or download from the following link. After download is completed, please double-click on the installer and follow the instructions to install. 6

Install SonicDICOM PACS You can download SonicDICOM PACS from the following link: SonicDICOM > Downloads After download is completed, please double-click on the installer and follow the instructions to install. Then SonicDICOM PACS' setup will be simply done. 6. Import DICOM files You can register DICOM file information to database by using import feature of SonicDICOM Manager. Registration of DICOM file information enables you to browse it on SonicDICOM PACS' Viewer. If you do not have any DICOM file, our company can provide some available sample DICOM files. Please download these from the following link: SonicDICOM > Downloads The instruction is described below. Please start up SonicDICOM Manager, and please confirm DICOM App Service is Running. If it is not Running, please click "Start" button. 7

8 Please click "Show advanced settings ", then Advanced Settings screen will be expanded. 8

9 Please click "Browse " of "Import Data", and then please choose a folder that includes DICOM files you will import. If you import DICOM files in a sub folder, please check "Include sub-folders". 9

10 After choosing a folder, please click "Import" button. SonicDICOM Manager will start import of DICOM files in a specified folder. 10

11 After import is completed properly, please follow with next step. If you cannot import files properly, please refer to the following link. SonicDICOM > FAQ > Cannot view or import DICOM file correctly. 11

12 7. Browse images on DICOM Viewer Please open a Web browser (Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc) on a PC that SonicDICOM PACS is installed. Then please access the following URL: Please enter the following initial ID and Password, then click LOGIN button. ID: admin Password: password After your trial use, please change the initial Password for security. In case that you access DICOM Viewer from other computer terminal If you access DICOM Viewer from other computer terminal that is not a PC with running SonicDICOM PACS, please change a part of URL "localhost" to the IP address of a PC that runs SonicDICOM PACS. For example, if the IP address of a PC that runs SonicDICOM PACS is , the URL will be Regarding how to confirm and configure IP address, please refer to the following links. SonicDICOM > Knowledge Base > To check your IP address SonicDICOM > Knowledge Base > To set a fixed IP adrerss In case that the port number of Web server is not a normal number (not 80). If your port number that Web server uses is set except for 80 by SonicDICOM Manager, the URL will be like " (in this example, the port number is set as 8080). 8. Connect to Modality 8.1 Check the required information To start DICOM communication between SonicDICOM PACS and modality, it needs to register SonicDICOM PACS information to modality. The required information is only three parameters that are "IP address", "Port number", and "AE Title". The following shows describing of each information and how to confirm these parameters. (1) IP address: identification number assigned to a computer or other device that is connected to an IP network. IP addresses are like home addresses or telephone numbers on an IP network. By default, Windows is set up to configure the IP address automatically when connecting to a network. That means the IP address can be changed every time you start up the OS. In devices that use DICOM communication, you need to set a fixed IP address to keep the address from changing. Please make sure you understand your network in order to properly configure your IP address. If you do not understand, please consult your network administrator or another person who can assist you. 12

13 (2) Port number: number for identifying the programs used by the computer to communicate. If you are using the default values without any change, then the port number is 104. You can configure and confirm port number by Admin Settings of SonicDICOM PACS' DICOM Viewer. (3) AE Title: name for identifying entities of the application that uses DICOM communication. If you are using the default values without any change, then the AE Title is Provider1. You can configure and confirm AE Title by Admin Settings of SonicDICOM PACS' DICOM Viewer. If you are using the default values without any change, then your SonicDICOM PACS basic parameters are as follows. IP address: please check individually (it is different depending on each environment) Port number: 104 AE Title: Provider1 8.2 Enter SonicDICOM PACS information into modality You need to enter SonicDICOM PACS information into modality that you are connecting to SonicDICOM PACS. SonicDICOM PACS' IP address SonicDICOM PACS' Port number SonicDICOM PACS' AE Title Configuration methods differ depending on each modality, so please check with the manufacturer s support staff or another person who can assist if you do not understand. 8.3 Check communication Please confirm that images can be sent from modality to SonicDICOM PACS and then SonicDICOM PACS can receive and display images properly. 13

Connect to DICOM Viewer 9.1 Check required information To start DICOM communication between SonicDICOM PACS and DICOM Viewer, it needs to register SonicDICOM PACS and DICOM Viewer's information to both devices. The required information is only three parameters that are "IP address", "Port number", and "AE Title". The following shows describing of each information and how to confirm these parameters. 15 9.2 Enter DICOM Viewer information into SonicDICOM PACS Enter DICOM Viewer information into SonicDICOM PACS. DICOM Viewer's IP address DICOM Viewer's Port number DICOM Viewer's AE Title 9.3 Enter SonicDICOM PACS information into modality You need to enter SonicDICOM PACS information into modality that you are connecting with SonicDICOM PACS. SonicDICOM PACS' IP address SonicDICOM PACS' Port number SonicDICOM PACS' AE Title Configuration methods differ depending on each modality, so please check with the manufacturer s support staff or another person who can assist if you do not understand. 9.4 Check communication Please confirm that DICOM Viewer can obtain images from SonicDICOM PACS and confirm that DICOM Viewer can display images properly. 15
