1 Accessing and Utilizing Your SRSU Office 365 Suite SRSU is happy to announce that a full suite of Office 365 applications are now available for download by active students, staff and faculty along with access to the full range of Office 365 online apps. What is Office 365? Office 365 is a subscription-based version of Microsoft's Office Suite of applications. Subscription is free as long as you are a Sul Ross student, faculty, or staff. Using your SRSU Office 365 account, you can download the MS Office 365 suite on up to 5 computers, either PC or a Mac. The version offered through SRSU includes a downloadable version of the following: With SRSU Office 365 Online you ll get up to 1 TB of cloud-based storage along with extra applications and collaborative features, so you have the power and flexibility to get things done from virtually anywhere. ACCESSING YOUR PERSONAL MS OFFICE 365 SUITE HOMEPAGE
2 1. To access your MS Office 365 suite: From the SR homepage, choose the MY SRSU quicklinks tab and then choose Office 365 at the bottom of the fly- out menu. OR type the following URL into your browsers address field to go straight to the login screen (step#3): 2. Once you choose the Office 365 link from the MY SRSU quicklinks tab, you ll go to the Microsoft Software Office 365 information page. Choose the Login button. 3. The initial MS Office 365 sign- in screen will look like this: 2
3 To sign in, use your full SRSU address (Example: No password is required on this page. Click your tab key to move to next screen. 3. When you click the tab, you will be redirected to the Sul Ross portal screen below. a. In the User name field, type in ONLY the username part (Example: testo365) of your address b. Type in your SRSU password c. Choose Sign In 5. Now you should be at your personal Office 365 home screen. To download and install the MS Office 365 suite to your personal computer, choose the Install Now button (NOTE: You may wish to first click off the optional Bing search and MSN browser homepage features before installing). 6. Depending on which browser you re using, MS Office 365 will appear in the downloads area. Double-click to begin. A dialog box will appear, click Run. (NOTE: Office 365 will not install over an existing, older version of MS Office, it will install beside it and assume all defaults. Once you are satisfied with your install, then you should uninstall the older version) 3
4 ACCESSING YOUR MS OFFICE 365 ONLINE SUITE Your Microsoft Office 365 Online can be found by clicking on the app launcher cube at the top left of the Office 365 homepage screen. A fly-out menu with all your Office 365 online application choices will appear. The version of Office 365 Online offered through SRSU includes cloud-based versions of the following: Word Online Excel Online PowerPoint Online OneDrive Keep all your files and photos here and then access or share them from anywhere. OneNote Newsfeed Sites Delve Video Class Notebook (a sister app to OneNote) Yammer STORING YOUR FILES ON MS OFFICE 365 ONEDRIVE OneDrive for Business is the place to store and share your work documents in the cloud. All content you store in OneDrive for Business is private until you decide to share it with other people. View and edit Office documents in Office Online or open them for viewing or editing in their Office applications. Access OneDrive via your Office 365 homepage from any web browser or download the One Drive for Business app to your tablet or smartphone (ios & Android) to easily access your One Drive from any device! 4
