4 1 Installing Perceptive Process Enterprise on UNIX 1.1 Before you start the installation Installing Perceptive Process Enterprise on Unix You are about to install Perceptive Process Enterprise on a computer with a Unix operating system that is supported by Perceptive Process. Starting the installation Launch the setup program from a terminal or a terminal emulator. Aborting the installation You can cancel the installation at any time during the installation process by pressing CTRL + C. The components that were installed before the installation was cancelled are not automatically deleted. If you want to perform the installation again, you first need to delete the files that have already been installed. Help during installation During the installation you can display help by entering a question mark (?) in the input line. After you have retrieved the help information, you can enter the required details and continue the installation. Conditions before installation The following prerequisites are important for a successful installation. Check these prerequisites before you start the installation. If necessary, consult your system administrator. Prerequisite Perceptive Process Enterprise files must be kept on one server and cannot be shared over different ones. You can install Perceptive Process Enterprise on an SAN. A number of TCP/IP ports are used by Perceptive Process Enterprise. This concerns the following ports: 4949 (Client Port; used by the client) (Master Port; used by the server) (HTTP Port; used by the web server). If these ports are being used by other applications on your system, it can lead to conflicts. The ports are not important during installation, but are important for the configuration (First Time Use). Installing Perceptive Process Enterprise on UNIX 4

5 The port number of the master port is specified in the Perceptive Process Enterprise licence. If you want a different port number for the master port, you must specify this when requesting a licence. Any Unix user can run the Perceptive Process Enterprise setup. No specific rights are required. We advise you to have the installation performed by a Unix user who then also becomes the Perceptive Process Enterprise administrator. You must create the Oracle database before the configuration phase. If necessary, you can do this by selecting option 8. Create a minimal DB for Perceptive Process. This creates an Oracle database with the minimum requirements for Perceptive Process Enterprise. If you do not create a database during setup, please consult the DBMS software documentation. 6 1.2 Installing Perceptive Process Enterprise Installing Perceptive Process Enterprise To install Perceptive Process Enterprise on UNIX, complete the following steps. s If you encounter any problems, consult the log files that are created (in the log directory of the Perceptive Process service) during the installation. If you want to resume the installation after a problem has occurred, we recommend that you restart iht (enter /<bpm-directory>/bin/bpmctl restart in the command line). 1 Download the installation file for Perceptive Process Enterprise from the Customer Portal. 2 Start the installation script. An overview of the installation steps is displayed. The following steps are performed automatically: Extract package Check version Check installation user 3 When Do you want to install as yourself [user name]? is displayed, press ENTER to keep the default user, or type another user name. 4 Answer the questions that are displayed during the final Generic questions step. 5 When Enter Perceptive Process program installation directory is displayed, press ENTER to install the program files in the default location, or specify another location. 6 When Enter Perceptive Process data directory is displayed, press ENTER to install the data files in the default location, or specify another location. 7 When Enter the UNIX group owner for all files is displayed, accept the default by pressing ENTER, or specify the name of a valid Unix user group. This is the same group of which the administrative user is a member. 8 When Enter the port for HTTP/WEB configuration is displayed, accept the default by pressing ENTER, or select another port. 9 When Enter password used for HTTP/WEB configuration is displayed, accept the default by pressing ENTER, or select another password. 7 The default password is 'admin'. The following steps are performed automatically: install create initial configuration start "first time use" server The installation is complete and the final step launches the next step: the configuration process (iht). This configuration phase is called First Time Use. Perceptive Process Enterprise is configured in a browser at the following address: <server name>:5000. If you do not execute the First Time Use process now, you can start this process later by entering /<bpm-directory>/bin/bpmctl -s restart in the command line. Changing the configuration password During the installation, a user name and password are created which both have the default 'admin' value. This user name/password combination is only used during the First Time Use configuration phase. After this phase, this combination is no longer used. For security reasons, if you do not start the configuration phase immediately after installation, you might want to change the password for this user immediately after the installation phase. To change the configuration password, complete the following steps. 1 Open the file <program data>/etc/confpass file in a text-only (plain text) editor. 2 Replace the 'admin' password with a password of your choice, then save and close the file. Customising the path variables If after the installation you, for example, want to use case types (demo cases) or if you want to perform other administrative actions from the command line (using econf), you can customise the PATH variable in your shell profile by adding the path to the /bin directory from the location where you installed Perceptive Process Enterprise. 8 1.3 Configuring Perceptive Process Enterprise Setting up Perceptive Process for first time use Configuring Perceptive Process takes a few steps and is done from the Internet browser. This is called First Time Use. To set up Perceptive Process for first time use, complete the following steps. The Perceptive Process Portal is displayed with the System Control menu open on the First time use option. This window displays the steps you must complete to set up Perceptive Process for use. The currently active step is indicated by the icon. 1 To start First Time Use, complete the following steps. 1 In the Name field, type: admin 2 In the Password field type: admin 3 Click on Sign In 2 To upload the licence file, complete the following steps. 1 Click on Browse... and navigate to the licence file. 2 Select the licence file and click on Open. 3 Click on Continue to go to the next screen. 3 To select the DBMS type, complete the following step. 1 Under Please choose your type of DBMS and enter the configuration settings you can specify the DBMS type you are going to use, which, for Unix is Oracle. 9 If necessary, consult the Supported Platforms document for supported database types and versions. 4 To configure the database, complete the following step. 1 To configure an Oracle database, see the section Configuring the Oracle database. If you use an Oracle database, you must use an existing database. This database needs to be created before you start installing Perceptive Process. 5 To create a database or use an existing one, complete the following steps. 1 If the database is not empty, you will get the option to empty it. 2 The database is filled or checked, and opened for use. 6 To configure Perceptive Process Server settings, complete the following steps. 1 Under Language select the language the server uses. This is the language for the texts that are exchanged between the server and the Perceptive Process applications, such as the log files. 2 In the Master Port field enter a different port number if necessary, for example if the default port is already being used. 3 In the Client Port field enter a different port number if necessary, for example if the default port is already being used. 4 Click on Continue. 7 To configure the Perceptive Process Service, complete the following steps. 1 If necessary, type another name in the Name of the top context field. This is the highest level of the organisation structure that is set up in Perceptive Process. By default the name of the organisation is entered here. The User name field displays the user name of the user to be added to Perceptive Process as the first administrative user (context owner). Installing Perceptive Process Enterprise on UNIX 9

10 2 In the Full name field enter the full name of the user. 3 In the Password field enter the password the user enters to log in to Perceptive Process. 4 In the Confirm password field enter the password again. Ignore the Use the LocalSystem account to start the Perceptive Process service option. 5 Click on Continue. 6 If you want to use Perceptive Process immediately, click on Continue. Perceptive Process Portal is opened. If you do not want to use Perceptive Process immediately, untick Open Perceptive Process Portal automatically and then click on Continue. The First time use window is closed. You can start Perceptive Process directly in your internet browser. Perform the following steps: Start your internet browser Type in the address bar. 11 1.4 Installing documentation Installing documentation in other languages than English By default, installations of Perceptive Process in languages other than English (United States) do not contain user documentation. To install user documentation in one of the other supported languages, you must download the documentation files for that language. In Perceptive Process, the user can select the language in the Options menu, and in the Help menu open the documentation in the selected language. You can install the documentation in more than one language. To install documentation, complete the following steps. 1 Download the following files from the Customer Portal: Perceptive Process Enterprise doc_userguide_web_manual_pdf_[language code].zip Perceptive Process Enterprise doc_serverguide_web_manual_pdf_[language code].zip Perceptive Process Design doc_designuserguide_web_manual_pdf_[language code]. zip Perceptive Process Enterprise doc_htmluserguide_web_manual_html_[language code].zip and save the files in a temporary location on your computer. The 'language code' is the code for the language of the documentation that you want to install in Perceptive Process. 2 Create a directory structure for the documentation. In all the following steps, 'language code' is the code for the language of the files that you downloaded in 1, for example 'de-de'. 1 Navigate to the data directory. By default this is: /web/manual 2 Select the manual directory and create the following sub-directory: pdf html 3 Select the pdf directory and create the following sub-directory: Installing Perceptive Process Enterprise on UNIX 11

12 [language code] 4 Select the html directory and create the following sub-directory: [language code] 3 To install documentation in PDF format, complete the following steps. 1 Copy the files: Perceptive Process Enterprise doc_userguide_web_manual_pdf_[language code].zip Perceptive Process Enterprise doc_serverguide_web_manual_pdf_ [language code].zip Perceptive Process Design doc_designuserguide_web_manual_pdf_ [language code].zip from the temporary directory to the following directory: /web/manual/pdf/[language code] 2 Unzip the files in the /web/manual/pdf/[language code] directory. 3 Remove the.zip files. 4 To install documentation as online help, complete the following steps. 1 Copy the file: Perceptive Process Enterprise doc_htmluserguide_web_manual_html_ [language code].zip from the temporary directory to the following directory: /web/manual/html/[language code] 2 Unzip the file in the /web/manual/html/[language code] directory. 3 Remove the.zip file. 13 2 Installing Additional Components and Demo Cases 2.1 Installing Additional Components and Demo Cases Topics in this section This part of the documentation covers the following topics: Installing New Work Notification Installing CHIP command line utilities Installing COM integration component Installing JAVA SDK Installing Demo cases Installing CHIP command line utilities Installing CHIP command line utilities To install the CHIP command line utilities, complete the following steps. 1 Download the Perceptive Process Enterprise SDK and tools. zip file from the Customer Portal and save the file in a temporary location on your computer. 2 Unpack the zip file in any location. We will refer to this location as [install location]. The CHIP command line utilities are located in the [install location]/ ClientTools/[operating system]/chp/bin directory. Select the appropriate directory [operating system] for the operating system you use. 3 You can delete the [install location]/clienttools/windows_nt directory as this directory is not applicable to your operating system. Also, you can delete either the [install location]/clienttools/aix or the [install location]/clienttools/linux directory, depending on your operating system Installing JAVA SDK Prerequisite The JAVA SDK needs the flowchip.jar and flowchipux.jar files. These files are present in a server installation of Perceptive Process and are located in the installation directory of Perceptive Process in Installing Additional Components and Demo Cases 13

14 the /server/web/client/jar sub-directory. Installing the JAVA SDK To install the JAVA SDK (Software Development Kit), complete the following steps. 1 Download the Perceptive Process Enterprise SDK and tools for Java.zip file from the Customer Portal and save the file in a temporary location on your computer. 2 Unpack the zip file in any location. We will refer to this location as [install location]. The JAVA SDK is located in the [install location] directory. 3 Locate the flowchip.jar and flowchipux.jar files and copy both files to the [install location]directory. The documentation of the JAVA SDK is in the [install location]/javadoc directory Installing Demo cases Installing Demo cases To install the Demo cases, complete the following steps. The demo cases that are installed are FormatConstructor, FormDemo and MotorClaim. Also, the modules FormDemo, frmt and modmotor are installed. These modules support the installed demo cases. 1 Download the Perceptive Process Enterprise Demo Case Types.zip file from the Customer Portal and save the file in a temporary location on your computer. 2 In the Perceptive Process Portal menu, click on Administration and then click on Release Case Type. 3 Click on the Choose file button and select the Perceptive Process Enterprise Demo Case Types.zip file. 15 4 Click on the Release button. 5 Wait until the window displays a list of messages. 6 To see the installed case types and modules, open or refresh the Explorer. Installing Additional Components and Demo Cases 15

16 2.2 Uninstalling Additional Components Uninstalling CHIP command line utilities To uninstall the CHIP command line utilities, complete the following steps. 1 Go to the [install location]. See Installing CHIP command line utilities. 2 Go to the [install location]/clienttools/[operating system] directory. Select the appropriate directory [operating system] for the operating system you use. 3 Delete the [install location]/clienttools/[operating system]/chp directory, including all sub-directories. Uninstalling JAVA SDK To uninstall the JAVA SDK, complete the following steps. 1 Go to the [install location]. See Installing JAVA SDK. 2 Delete the [install location]/javadoc and [install location]/nl directories. 3 Delete the files flowchip.jar and flowchipux.jar. 17 2.3 Uninstalling Demo Cases Uninstalling Demo cases To uninstall the Demo cases, complete the following step. The demo cases that are uninstalled are FormatConstructor, FormDemo and MotorClaim. The modules that are part of the installed demo cases, FormDemo, frmt and modmotor, cannot be uninstalled. 1 Delete the case types of the demo cases in the Explorer.
