1 A Hyperion Product Update What s New in Hyperion System 9 BI+ Financial Reporting and Hyperion System 9 BI+ Web Analysis? Release summary Release 9.3 of Hyperion System 9 BI+ Financial Reporting (Financial Reporting) and Hyperion System 9 BI+ Web Analysis (Web Analysis) are modules of Hyperion System 9 that facilitate reporting from a variety of data sources, including the financial applications in Hyperion System 9 Applications+ modules, the analytic engines in Hyperion System 9 BI+, and SAP BW, Microsoft Analysis Services, and other external sources. Release 9.3 of these modules focuses on delivering market-leading usability and increasing functional depth so our customers have the tools they need to manage their business. Within Financial Reporting, batch-bursting capabilities have been significantly enhanced to allow users more flexibility and control in generating and distributing reports. As well, a number of data source enhancements improve connectivity with existing data sources, and add support for the new Hyperion System 9 Capital Expense Planning module within Hyperion System 9 Planning. Release 9.3 of Web Analysis delivers improvements in printing, formatting, and display options. New connectivity with Microsoft Analysis Services and support for the Hyperion System 9 Portal Integration Toolkit have also been added. Financial Reporting Enhancements Batch bursting. Batch bursting allows users to run a batch for more than one dimension member on the Batch Point of View and save the output to either the file system, repository, and/or distribute the output via to the required recipients. In Release 9.3, the following features have been added: Greater flexibility in generating batch output: A user can now select multiple members and generate separate batch outputs (PDF and Snapshot). Output can be separated based on member selections within a dimension (See Figure 1). Figure 1.

2 Greater output control: Users can control output file names and folder names, as well as defining an output location. Multiple batch outputs: For batches with more than one member within a dimension, multiple batch outputs are generated and placed in separate folders. These folder names may be defined through text functions to ensure uniqueness and avoid overwriting. of batch output: PDF output of the batches may be attached to . Data Source Enhancements: As a reporting module of Hyperion System 9, Financial Reporting supports a variety of data sources. The following enhancements have been made in Release 9.3: Hyperion System 9 Workforce Planning (Workforce Planning): Users can apply Conditional Formatting and Suppression to underlying data values in the Workforce Planning Smart List. Microsoft Analysis Services support for reports: Ability to create a database connection, grids, select members and conditional formatting, and suppression (See Figure 2). Figure 2. Support for SAP BW: New capabilities include Search InfoProvider listing by Description or TN; ability to display range of members; and advanced searching (contains, between, and range). Support for the new Capital Expense Planning module: Includes Smart List display and conditional formatting More Essbase Analytics and Enterprise Analytics support: An additional option for displaying the qualified name in a grid has been added. For analytic databases with non-unique members, the fully qualified name can be displayed in a member label by using the Text function. The qualified name shows the full member path in the hierarchy (See Figure 3). 2

3 Figure 3. Other Enhancements to Financial Reporting Users can view multiple areas of an HTML grid at one time by locking or freezing row and column headers. After enabling Freeze row and column headers in the Studio client, and scrolling across or down a grid in the Hyperion System 9 Workspace (Workspace), row and column headers remain visible or locked. Formatting includes reverse indentation based on Generation. For expansions set to reverse indentation, the expanded members appear indented to the left of the member, rather than to the right (See Figure 4). Users can apply conditional formatting to expanded members (within an expansion) that is different from the expansion member. Paging and prompts for Hyperion System 9 Smart View for Office (Smart View). Smart View has been enhanced to handle Financial Reporting paging and prompts. Content may be imported into MS Excel as query ready or fully formatted. Figure 4. 3

4 Web Analysis Enhancements Usability enhancements: The following new features and enhancements are available with Release 9.3: Printing to PDF from Workspace: Either the selected object or the screen can be printed. A new Print All Objects feature with the Hyperion System 9 BI+ Web Analysis Studio allows for the printing of all individual report objects on a report in their entirety (see Figure 3, above). The output format is similar to print Selected Object, except all report objects are included. The Print Preview feature will also render the output in this format when selected (See Figure 5). Figure 5. Workspace has "Open As > in Web Analysis Studio" right click option, to open a Web Analysis report in the Web Analysis Studio instead of Workspace. The ARU file may be imported. This XML format file allows setting of user preferences, personal variables, and point of views for users via a command line file import. It will set the Active Preference for a user as well as set some user preferences (Note: not all user preferences can be imported). It also has the ability to create Point of View and Personal Variables. 4

5 The Rename utility is a standalone application designed to update existing objects in the repository based on data source metadata changes. For example, if a member name and/or dimension name changes in an Essbase Analytics or Enterprise Analytics database, the utility will perform a find and replace operation in the repository and change all affected objects accordingly. The specific objects that are updated follow: Reports Database Formatting Database Connections Personal Variable Definitions Point-of-View Definitions The following metadata changes are supported: Rename references to an existing Dimension (Name and Alias/Description) Rename references to an existing Member (Name and Alias/Description) Add references to a new Dimension (Default member selected) In Web Analysis Studio, right click menu options can be restricted by user role. The restrictions are defined via an XML file on the Web Analysis server. Users can be restricted from selecting more than one member in the Filter via a WebAnalysis.properties file setting. Columns in a report with missing data can be suppressed with the Suppress Missing Columns option, available in the Data Layout and the Report Wizards, in the Web Analysis Studio. Data retrieval by clicking on a Service button after making one or multiple subscription control member selections. Dynamic text labels display the number of rows in a report. When exporting to Microsoft Office Excel, if the number of rows or columns exceeds the Excel maximum, an error message is displayed. SQL Spreadsheets are now supported with dynamic text labels. Dynamic text labels are variables that are dynamically replaced with values at runtime. They are primarily used in custom report label objects and in the Print dialog box Headers/Footers tab. The two dynamic text labels that are supported with SQL Spreadsheets are the Filter and Cell functions. Web Analysis can now connect to Microsoft Analysis Services (MSAS) cubes and create reports in a similar manner as other OLAP data sources (See Figure 6). Figure 6. 5

6 Data in a spreadsheet, chart or pinboard can now be exported unformatted to either Excel, the Clipboard, or to a file. Custom Reports in Web Analysis Studio have "Design for HTML" items to restrict controls and functionality that are not available in Workspace rendering of the reports. User POV functionality has been added that allows a user to save selections made on a report (Rows, Columns, Pages, and Filters) and automatically apply them to multiple reports. SAP BW Support: New capabilities include Search InfoProvider listing by Description or TN; and Key Figure Attributes are optional. Support for Smart View paging. New options to import All pages or Selected Pages. Improved management of pages split across pages, slides, sheets. Hyperion System 9 Portal Integration Toolkit provides support for Portlets in the WebSphere and SAP NetWeaver platforms (See Figure 7).
