2 Candidates & Nominations Candidates & Nominations The Candidates & Nominations screen allows the user to add, remove or edit the candidate information for an election. To add a candidate, they must click Add. They then have 3 options: To add a copy of the candidate details from an existing elected member. To copy candidate details from the electoral register. To add the candidate details from scratch. The first option opens the Elected Member screen to allow the user to choose a candidate that has already been elected. The second option opens the Elector Search screen, allowing the user to search the electoral register for a candidate. The third option lets the user enter the information directly into the candidate screen. Page 1
3 Candidates & Nominations Candidate Information The Candidate Information tab is the first section of adding a Candidate and where all basic information about the Candidate will be stored. From this screen the user is able to select which Election the candidate is running in, as well as the Constituency. Other information such as the Party they are representing, and their Electoral Agent can be recorded. There is a set criteria the candidate must meet in order to be considered valid. If a candidate is still listed as invalid reasons for this will be displayed on this tab. Page 2
4 Contact Information The second tab is the Contact Information tab for the candidate. This is where the home and office numbers and addresses are kept. The user also has the option to add a separate ballot paper address or make this the same as the home or office address. This can be done using the two buttons beneath the Ballot Paper Address. The Ballot Paper Address is used to power the ballot book wizard extract to be sent to the printers. If no information is entered into this address, no information will be available on the extract to the printers. Whilst we understand that each election has regulations for what goes onto the Ballot Paper, this screen requires the user to manually enter the candidates Ballot Paper Address. There is also an option to choose not to publish the candidates home address. Page 3
5 Bank Details This Bank Details tab is where the Candidate s Financial Details are entered. The user can enter all the relevant details into each of the sections on this tab. The HMRC sections stores information relating to tax, and the Candidate s NI number. The Bank Details section is used to store details relating to the Candidate s bank. Page 4
6 Party In the party tab, the user can indicate whether or not the candidate is an Independent Candidate, this will change the view of the screen to only allow the user to enter a Candidate Description. As well as this they can select a Party Name, a Party Description and a Party Logo. For more information on Party Descriptions and Logos please see the Manage Parties help manual. If a certificate of identification has been received, the box at the bottom can be ticked. Page 5
7 Nomination The nomination tab is where the user can enter the key nomination dates and times, along with the dates of when the nomination paper was received. They can choose if a deposit is required or not for this election. And they can add a date of consent, and a date of withdraw if needed. The user can tick any of the Consent to Nomination boxes. At least one of them must be checked for the candidate to be valid. Once all other information is collected the user will need to add nominations for the candidate. Before doing this the user must save the Candidate Record using the Save Button in order to commit this change to the database. After doing this the user can click the Subscribers button on this tab in order to record any subscribers This will open a new window and allow the user to enter a Proposer, a Seconder and any Nominations. The user will need to enter a Polling District and a Roll Number for the subscriber. To the right, the user can see a hint showing them who that roll number represents, or if the number is invalid. 8 Once the user has chosen a subscriber, then can click save, and they will be added to the list underneath. ~ Once the maximum number of subscribers has been recorded, the user can close the window and click Save. The candidate should now been shown as valid. Page 7
