1 Description This exercise introduces the use of Galileo s Logix EtherNet/IP Driver and Tag Import option. In this exercise, you will: Learn hardware: wiring schematic Develop a simple Galileo project adding AB Logix DF1 Driver Learn how to address Logix tags Import format (optional) Hardware

2 Part 1: Create a new Galileo project using XV102-D6-57TVRC-10 or any XV-102 with Ethernet port On Select PLC window, click Add. From Model drop-down menu, select A.Bradley-Logix-EtherNet/IP. 2

3 Product Application AP048005EN Note Communication settings. Click OK. Create a new mask and name it Logix_DF1. Name the new mask ELC_RS232. 3

4 Before we add objects, we will create 1 Boolean (bit tag) and map it to the correct Logix Address format. The first tag is Start. Map Start to MainProgram.Start by clicking on Address Radio button. 4

6 On the Logix_Ethernet Mask, draw a button mapped to the Start tag. 6

7 Product Application AP048005EN Download the following Compact Logix test program. Compile and download Galileo project. Verify Start contact is turning ON and OFF. 7

8 Part 3: Using Tag Import for Logix DF1 Tags (optional) The easiest way to import tags into Galileo is to first create them in an Excel spreadsheet. Step 1: Create new Excel spreadsheet and fill in the cells below. Name column: Assigns the Galileo Tag Name. If a yyy.xxx name is assigned, then a structure yyy is created with tag name xxx. Type column: Type can be BIT, BYTE, SINT, WORD, INT, DWORD, LINT, FLOAT32, and STRING. Device column: Leave Blank or add Device Name if it exists. Program column: Program Name is RSLogix 5000 project. Structure column: Structure Name if tag is part of Structure inside RSLogix project; otherwise, leave blank. Tag column: Name of Tag in RSLogix 5000 project. Index column: If referencing Array index; otherwise, leave blank. Select and copy all cells used. 8

9 Product Application AP048005EN Create a new notepad document. Open document and paste copied cells. Note: Only one tab can separate text. If a space is blank, it still must take up a tab. Save document as Logix DF1 Tags and rename extension from.txt to.itf. The itf extension is required for Galileo. Now go to Galileo Tags tab, right click, and select Import. Note: Place cursor on any tag data type and right click to get Import menu. 9

10 Browse for the Logix Ethernet Ip Tags.itf file. Browse for Import File. 10

12 Select Delete selected and continue to keep existing project tags. Tags are now imported under Bit type and the Struct type. 12

13 Product Application AP048005EN Double click on Real1 tag to open its Tag-Settings window. Click on Units Translation tab. Select Mode A tab at bottom and then add 2 decimal points to the Decimals column. 13

16 Add the following objects and map the corresponding tags. Place tags on Logic_DF1 mask. Download and test Galileo application. Exercise is complete.
