1 What s New in LoadRunner/Performance Center Questions and Answers October 26, 2017 Q: In the era of DevOps, Agile methodologies, etc., is the vision that Development teams will learn and use LoadRunner/Performance Center? A: Micro Focus LoadRunner and Performance Center together with Network Virtualization for LoadRunner and Performance Center empower DevOps teams to manage complexity by using a full spectrum of standard tools, technologies, utilities, and other resources to quickly and easily code performance testing into apps and things (devices and sensors). Dev teams hot NEED to learn to use LR/PC. Micro Focus performance tools are able to execute unit tests/dlls along side JMeter/MicroFocus protocol scripts: this allow you, to utilize all the resources you have for performance test. You can find more here: Q: If Development teams already are using JMeter, Gatling and other such tools, why should they add LoadRunner/Performance Center to the mix? Isn't the cost and overhead (Controllers, Generators) prohibitive? A: They don t need to. You can utilize the JMeter assets. dev/qa tests don t usually cover the full spectrum needed for performance tests (same as unit tests vs system tests), LR/PC allow you to use a mix of JMeter/Junit/Nunit/Selenium/etc scripts in one tests and alnalyze all the test data in one tool. Q: What is New Relic? Is that a tool? A: New Relic is an Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tool. When applications go into production, you should monitor the applications and the end-user experience, followed by the process of feeding performance data back to your development teams. The adoption of APM tools provides DevOps benefits, such as: Fast feedback between development and operations Increased application resilience from early, proactive monitoring Lower operations costs Decreased time firefighting production issues Q: Any plans for splunk? A: Splunk is part of our roadmap.

2 Q: As far as APM tools, are there plans to include AppDynamics in the future? A: AppDynamics integration is part of the roadmap and scheduled for the near future releases. Q: I am currently struggling with TruClient because Chromium is not really Google Chrome, IE is only useful in Standards mode, and Firefox is a waste of time --- nobody uses that browser. The result: I have to often times tell testing clients that LoadRunner cannot do the work. Are there plans to resolve some of this? A: Chrome is based on Chromium, but Google adds a number of proprietary, closed-source bits to their Chrome browser that Chromium lacks [AAC, H.264, and MP3 Support, Adobe Flash (PPAPI), Google Update, Extension Restrictions, Crash and Error Reporting and Security SandBox) due to the Chrome terms of use MicroFocus cannot release Chrome as part of TruClient, therefor we use Chromium. In testing environment there should not be any problem using Chromium. You will be suprized how many users/organizations use FireFox Who use IE? ;-) In General, TruClient R&D are always working on improving TruClient, if there is any specific suggestion/challenges, you are more then welcome to contact TruClient R&D. Q: Why so many new features in a sub release? A: This release was planned as a major version, that s why it is so rich in terms of content; however due internal situations we had to release it as a minor.minor version that included rebranding from HP to HPE. Q: This is not a question, but NV is too expensive. The reason teams are using JMeter and Gatling and Selenium is that the cost of other tools is too high. A: JMeter and Gatling and Selenium do not provide any network emulation capabilities. How much will a production issue cost? Network Virtualization enables you to impose network impairments and constraints on your testing environment, to improve the accuracy of your application testing. You can: emulate real-world network conditions, including bandwidth, latency, and packet loss test your application behavior under varied network conditions, observe if the transactions complete successfully, and determine transaction response time analyze performance results and view recommendations for improving application performance Q: Could you provide more details for "Automatic detection of anomalies? A: for TruClient: see my TC answer before, as Chromium will never be Chrome the answer is never for Web protocol: Chrome recording is fully supported in Vugen Q: Citrix hasn't supported ICA files for years now, but the Citrix protocol requires and ICA file. I am aware there is a workaround using the web protocol to capture a dynamic ICA file. Does this new version finally work without an ICA file for Citrix? A: nope. Q: Any scope for Service Virtualization? A: To facilitate performance testing of business processes that contain services that are not available, LoadRunner and Performance Center integrate with Micro Focus Service Virtualization. This enables your team to test an application s interaction with a variety of unique conditions, such as how the system behaves if a service is offline, or if it takes a long time to respond, or if its response is not what was expected (for example, an exception). Micro Focus Service Virtualization gives teams flexibility and complete control over test environments. Q: Does this release support block chain ethereum platform? A: nope Q: I would like to know the process for integrating with new relic and dynatrace, do we require licenses of new relic and dynatrace? A: The features are free, you need to have them working and with your own license though Q: Is the integration with dynatrace limited to out of the box dashboards? 4 Q: Are there plans for integration with Microsoft Test Manager? A: Not at the moment, need to get the contact and get info about the requirement Q: What is the need for JMeter integration? A: Prerequisites: Apache JMeter installed on each load generator machine running JMeter tests. A: The current hashing algorithm used in ALM and PC is SHA256, SHA256 considered as robust algorithm and it is widely used in the industry, however our applications are developed according to security standards and best practices, so support of SHA3 algorithms will be part of the product roadmap according to the priority. A: PC REST API is only available of PC, LR has Analysis API for example that can be leveraged. Q: So is truclient the new future of lt? A: The complexity of new technologies, the lack of commonly recognized and accepted standards, and the sheer multitude of emerging frameworks and toolkits make it difficult for companies to build Web 2.0 testing strategies and select appropriate automation solutions.
