2 Product Updates Create quick link URLs for a candidate merge With a platform as versatile as Credential Manager, there are many ways to customize your experience - and we re continually finding ways to make your workflow simpler and easier to manage. For many of you, managing candidate registrations and records can be time consuming. For example, you might run a report and find a lot of records that your match rule configuration did not catch - and these records need to be reviewed and possibly merged. Whether you re short on time or have a lot of records to review, you don t want to overlook any possible merges. Reconciling duplicate records is an important task for both administrative and security reasons. In the 1603 release, we ve added a simple tool that could make this task a little easier for you. You can create quick link URLs that take you directly to the Merge page for two candidates. Then, when you re ready to merge the candidates you won t need to find and copy their Registry IDs to the Merge page - all you need to do is click the URL. You can create URLs on a case-by-case basis. For example, a particular merge case that you need to investigate further but don t immediately have time for, or want someone else to investigate for you. You can create a spreadsheet of multiple URLs. For example, if you re working from a list with a lot of records, you can record the Registry IDs for possible merge cases as you go and return to them later. 3 Create your own candidate merge URLs 1 Gather candidate IDs Gather a list of the candidate IDs that you want to merge. 2 Create the URL(s) 1. Copy the following text to your workspace (such as a document, , or spreadsheet): i7lp.integral7.com/durango/dl/cm/clientname/id1&id2 2. Replace ClientName with your organization s Credential Manager ID, and replace ID1 and ID2 with the actual IDs of two candidates you want to merge. 3. Make sure is attached to the beginning of the URL. The final URL should appear as shown below (but with your customized ClientName and candidate IDs.) Note: The URLs you create will not be active in the production environment until the 1603 release, which is scheduled for Saturday, March 19 th, Generate multiple URLs with a template With the template below, you can enter as many candidate IDs as you want and the URLs will be generated for you automatically. Further instructions are provided in the template. Download the Excel template here 3 Click the URL(s) You can now click the URLs or copy them to another location (such as another document or ). The URLs will direct you to the Credential Manager page where you can complete the merge for the two candidates. Note: If the two candidates have already been merged, or either of the candidates don t exist, you ll see the following error messages: Already merged: Both IDs are for the same candidate. You must specify different candidates. Candidate doesn t exist/invalid ID(s): The 1st ID did not match a candidate or The 2nd ID did not match a candidate. 4 Turn off external ID links in candidate profiles Today, candidates can click external IDs displayed on their profile/candidate record. These links open the record associated with that external ID, which might have different demographic information from their candidate record. This could confuse candidates if they see conflicting information and/or multiple records tied to their account. For example, a common external ID is a Test Service Provider (TSP) ID, such as a VUE ID. If candidate Joe Smith took an exam with VUE last year and updates his profile address today, his profile address will no longer match the address on his TSP record. With the 1603 release, you can turn off the links to records associated with external IDs. (The links are available by default.) Example of an external ID link on a candidate s profile page. You now have three options for how IDs are displayed on your candidates profiles: Keep the default settings (display external IDs as links to the associated records) Disable the links (display external IDs as plain text without links, so candidates still see their other IDs but can t access the associated records) Turn off the entire ID section (do not show any IDs on the profile page) If you would like to change how IDs are displayed to your candidates, please contact your TAM. FYI: Types of Credential Manager IDs Registry ID: This is a candidate s main Credential Manager ID used for tracking all information associated with a candidate's record. Note: The Registry ID is sometimes referred to as the candidate ID. Client Candidate ID: An ID from a client s system that was passed on to Credential Manager for a candidate who was imported. In some cases, it is used as the candidate s Registry ID. TSP ID: Test Service Provider ID. A secondary external ID auto-assigned to candidates when they take an exam. This ID is only linked to their TSP record for a specific test service provider. IDs from other systems can also be imported to Credential Manager. 5 Maintenance, Updates, and Fixes Internet Explorer 9 and 10 unsupported in 1606 To continue delivering the best possible experience for our users, we are planning to end support for Internet Explorer 9 and 10 starting with the 1606 release. IE10 and below will be unsupported for all Credential Manager users, including administrators, candidates, and providers. This means we will no longer test or fix bugs related to Internet Explorer 10 and below, unless they affect security or data integrity. You can continue using IE9 and 10 at your own risk. When a user logs in to Credential Manager with IE10 or below, a message will be displayed with a warning to use a newer browser. In addition, all IE9 and 10 users will need to update their Internet Explorer security settings to enable TLS 1.1 and higher. Effective June 2016, the Pearson data center will refuse TLS 1.0 and lower connections. IE9 and IE10 use TLS 1.0 by default. Once this change is made, anyone using IE9/10 must update their security settings, or they will not be able to access Credential Manager and other Pearson products. While usage of IE9/10 is very low, it s important for you to be aware of this security change so you can assist your candidates. To enable TLS 1.1 and 1.2 on Internet Explorer 9 and 10: 1. From the Internet Explorer main menu, select Tools > Internet Options. 2. Select the Advanced tab. 3. In the Settings panel, scroll to the Security section and deselect Use SSL 3.0. Then select Use TLS 1.0, Use TLS 1.1, and Use TLS 1.2 (if available). 4. Click OK. 5. Exit and restart Internet Explorer. To summarize our recent and upcoming changes regarding browser support: IE8 and below is already blocked on the administrator side and unsupported on the candidate and provider sides. Starting with the 1606 release, IE10 and below will be unsupported for all Credential Manager users, including administrators, candidates and providers. You can still access Credential Manager using IE10 or below, but your experience may be limited. Starting in June, the Pearson data center will refuse TLS 1.0 and lower connections. Anyone using IE9 or IE10 must update their security settings to enable TLS 1.1 and higher, or they will be blocked from using Credential Manager and other Pearson products. 6 Minor Updates and Bug Fixes The Credential Management team fixed the following issues: Fixed an issue with Secure Candidate Handoff Exam expiration date editor Cross site scripting attacks Resolution Secure Candidate Handoff now supports a more secure encryption algorithm. The expiration date now must be after the exam start (effective) date. Improved data sanitizing processes to provide better protection against cross-scripting for improved security. Forms Form titles, descriptions, and thank you messages can now contain HTML and special characters. Condition Builder Condition group names can now contain special characters.
