3 About ImageNow Interact for ArcGIS Server ImageNow Interact for ArcGIS Server for Silverlight is a document management solution for users of Esri ArcGIS Server. With ImageNow Interact for ArcGIS Server, you can upload files of any type to the ImageNow repository and link them to individual features on an ArcGIS map layer. You can then use ImageNow Interact to select a feature and display a grid of all the documents linked to that feature. What is the ImageNow repository? ImageNow Interact for ArcGIS Server saves the files you upload to the ImageNow repository in two ways. ImageNow saves the informational content of the file, which may be in any file format, in an object storage location from which you can retrieve and view it. ImageNow saves the metadata associated with the file, known as document keys and custom properties, as a record in a database that ImageNow Interact uses for editing document keys, searching for documents, and linking documents to map features. Using the ImageNow Interact Silverlight tool You use the ImageNow Interact Silverlight tools to review documents linked to features on your map and to link new or existing repository documents to those features. Review documents linked to a feature or features Before you add files to a map feature, you can see what files other users have already linked to a single feature or to any of the features in an area

On the ImageNow Interact panel, click the Select button to enable the selection panel. 3. Use either the select by extent or the select by point tool to make your selection.

5 Review documents linked to a feature or features Before you add files to a map feature, you can see what files other users have already linked to a single feature or to any of the features in an area of the map. You can also locate and view a specific piece of information that pertains to a given feature. 1. Optional. Zoom in on the area of the map that contains the features you want. 2. On the ImageNow Interact panel, click the Select button to enable the selection panel. 3. Use either the select by extent or the select by point tool to make your selection. For select by extent, click and drag a rectangle across the area that contains map features, or for select by point, click on a feature to select. One of the following actions results from the selection. If ImageNow Interact selection tool does not detect any documents in its repository linked to the features you selected, it displays the ImageNow results panel with no records. If this occurs, click on the Select button in the tool panel to enable the selection panel and, if you want to select another region, repeat this step. If ImageNow Interact returns documents linked to the features you selected, the ImageNow search results grid appears as shown in the following figure. Page 5 of 10

7 Link existing documents to a feature You can link one or more documents in the ImageNow repository to any one feature within a map layer. 1. To enable the link features panel, on the ImageNow Interact panel, click the Link Features button.. 2. Click the Link to an existing document tab. Page 7 of 10

8 3. Click the View list, select the type of documents you want to view from the list, and click Go. If ImageNow Interact detects any features, they appear in the View Results grid on the panel. 4. Under Link Feature, select the item in the View Results grid that you want to link. Page 8 of 10

9 Upload documents and link to a feature You can upload documents from your file system to the repository and link them to a map feature. 1. On the ImageNow Interact panel, click the Link Features button to enable the panel. 2. Click the Upload a new document tab. If ImageNow Interact detects features available to link, it displays them in the Features available to link list, as shown in the following figure. 3. Because a link can have only one destination, you must narrow the selection to one layer and one feature. Select a single feature in the list. 4. Fill in the Document Properties inputs on the panel by first selecting the document from your file system. Click the button to enable the File Browser. Navigate to the document on your system. 10 5. Continue to populate the inputs for the Document Properties, including the Drawer and the Document Type. 6. When you complete the Document Properties inputs, click Link. Page 10 of 10
