2 Connecting the Router to Your Computer Power Input Reset Button Console* LAN 1-4 On/Off Button DSL Port * Console- for use by repair service personnel only. Connect the Telephone Cable Connect one end of the telephone cable to the DSL port on the router and the other end of the cable into the wall socket. Connect the Ethernet Cable Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to one of the 4 LAN port on the back of the router and attach the other end to an Ethernet Adapter or available Ethernet port on your computer. Or, you can attach it to a switch / hub first and connect your computer to the switch / hub. Connect the Power Adapter Complete the process by connecting the power adapter to the Power input on the back of the router and then plug the other end of power adapter into a wall outlet or power strip. Then turn on the router and boot up your PC and any LAN devices, such as hubs or switches, and any computers connected to them. 2

3 Configuring the Router To use your web browser to access the web pages used to set up the router, your computer must be configured to Obtain an IP address automatically, that is, you must change the IP network settings of your computer so that it is a DHCP client. If you are using Windows XP and do not know how to change your network settings, skip ahead to Appendix and read the instructions provided. Open your web browser and enter the URL in the address bar and press Enter. Enter admin in the User Name field and admin in the Password field. Click OK NOTE: Actually, there are two default user name and password combinations. The user / user name and password combination provides limited access to certain configurations. The admin / admin combination can perform all functions. Passwords can be changed at any time. 3

4 Configuring the Router (continued) Once you have logged in, the Home directory tab featuring the Wizard window opens. This section explains how to quickly configure the router through the Wizard for you to access the Internet successfully. ATM PVC Configuration To enable the auto-connect process, click on the box labeled DSL Auto-connect, a process that will automatically detect the first usable PVC and automatically detect PPPoE and PPPoA. To continue, click on the Next button. Skip ahead to page 7 if you select DSL Auto-connect. Uncheck this box to Manually Configure your VPI / VCI settings. Click Next to continue. 4

5 Configuring the Router (continued) If you uncheck the DSL Auto-connect box, the resulting screen is seen below. Enter the VPI / VCI as indicated by your ISP. Also shown will be the Quality of Service. Check with your ISP for the VPI / VCI settings. Click on the checkbox if your ISP instructs you to Enable QoS. Click Next to continue. 5

6 Configuring the Router (continued) Connection Type Following is the Connection Type screen where you select the type of network protocol and encapsulation mode over the ATM PVC that your ISP has instructed you to use. The following is a PPPoA example. Click on Next to continue. Check with your ISP on which Network Protocol and Encapsulation Mode to select. Click Next to continue. 6

7 Configuring the Router (continued) PPP Username and Password Now, enter the PPP username and password as given by your ISP. Then decide if you will be using any features such as Dial on demand, PPP IP extension, Keep Alive and then click on Next. Type the User Name and Password for your ISP account. Select the Services and Default Gateway as required by your ISP. Click Next to continue. 7

8 Configuring the Router (continued) Network Address Translation Settings The next step is to configure the Network Address Translation (NAT) settings. For the example, NAT will be enabled. The remaining fields are left as default and then click on Next to continue. Select the services that you want to Enable on your router. Check with your ISP for the required services. Click Next to continue. 8

9 Configuring the Router (continued) Device Setup You can configure the DSL Router IP address and Subnet Mask for the LAN interface to correspond to your LAN s IP Subnet. If you want the DHCP server to automatically assign IP addresses, then enable the DHCP server and enter the range of IP addresses that the DHCP server can assign to your computers. Disable the DHCP server if you would like to manually assign IP addresses. Click on Next to continue. Enter the IP address and Subnet Mask for the LAN interface. The default setting has the DHCP Server Enabled. Change this setting if necessary. Click Next to continue. 9

10 Configuring the Router (continued) Wireless The router s wireless function can be enabled on the following screen. If the function is enabled, then continue by entering the SSID, the wireless network name. Click on Next to continue. Click on the checkbox if you want to Enable the wireless function. This part appears on the screen only if you checked Enable Wireless. Enter the wireless network name (SSID) for the router. Click Next to continue. 10

11 Configuring the Router (continued) Setup - Summary After all of the configurations are done, the WAN Setup Summary screen displays all WAN settings that you have made. Check that the settings are correct before clicking on the Save / Reboot button. Clicking on Save / Reboot will save your settings and restart your router. This shows a summary of the settings that you made in this wizard. Click Save/Reboot to save your configurations and restart the router. 11

12 Appendix For additional settings or information, refer to the Advanced, Tools, or Status tabs on the Web Management interface; or to the manual located on the CD-ROM. Configuring IP Settings in Windows XP Use the following steps to configure a computer running Windows XP to be a DHCP client. 1. From the Start menu on your desktop, go to Control Panel. From the Start menu, go to Control Panel. 2. In the Control Panel window, click Network and Internet Connections. Click Network and Internet Connections. 12

13 3. In the Network and Internet Connections window, click Network Connections. Click Network Connections. 4. In the Network Connections window, right-click on Local Area Connection, then click Properties. Right-click on the Local Area Connection icon and select the Properties option from the pull-down menu. 13

14 5. In the General tab of the Local Area Connection Properties window, highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) under This connection uses the following items: by clicking on it once. Click on the Properties button. Click Properties. 6. Select Obtain an IP address automatically by clicking once in the circle. Click the OK button. Select Obtain an IP address automatically in the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window Your computer is now ready to use the Router s DHCP server. 14

24 Подключение маршрутизатора к компьютеру Разъем питания Кнопка Reset Разъем Console* Порты LAN 1-4 Кнопка On/Off Порт DSL *Консольный разъем используется только обслуживающим персоналом. Подключите телефонный кабель Подключите один конец телефонного кабеля к порту DSL на маршрутизаторе и другой конец кабеля к настенному разъему. Подключите кабель Ethernet Подключите один конец кабеля Ethernet к одному из 4 портов LAN на задней панели маршрутизатора и подключите другой конец кабеля Ethernet к адаптеру Ethernet или доступному порту Ethernet на компьютере. Или сначала подключите кабель к коммутатору/концентратору и затем подключите компьютер к коммутатору/концентратору. Подключите адаптер питания Для окончания процесса установки подключите адаптер питания к разъему питания на задней панели маршрутизатора и затем подключите другой конец адаптера питания к настенной розетке или сетевому фильтру. После чего включите маршрутизатор и загрузите компьютер или любые LAN-устройства, такие как концентраторы или коммутаторы, и любые компьютеры, подключенные к ним. 24

25 Настройка маршрутизатора Чтобы Web-браузер мог загрузить Web-страницы, используемые для настройки маршрутизатора, компьютер должен быть сконфигурирован для получения IPадреса автоматически ( Obtain an IP address automatically ), поэтому необходимо изменить IP-настройки компьютера так, чтобы он стал клиентом DHCP. Если используется Windows XP и сетевые настройки неизвестны, то прочитайте приведенные в Приложении инструкции. Откройте Web-браузер и введите в поле URLадреса и нажмите Enter. Введите admin в поле User Name и admin в поле Password. Нажмите OK ЗАМЕЧАНИЕ: Фактически имеются две комбинации имени пользователя и пароля по умолчанию. Комбинация имени пользователя и пароля user /user предоставляет ограниченный доступ к определенным настройкам. Комбинация admin / admin предоставляет доступ ко всем функциям. Пароли могут быть изменены в любое время. 25

Этот раздел поясняет, как быстро настроить маршрутизатор с помощью мастера для успешного получения доступа к Интернет. Настройка ATM PVC Для активации процесса автоподключения, отметьте флажком чекбокс, обозначенный как DSL Auto-connect, процесс, при котором первым автоматически обнаруживается PVC и PPPoE, PPPoA, и протокол Bridge (с доступным сервером DHCP). Для продолжения нажмите кнопку Next. Если активирована функция DSL Auto-connect, перейдите на 7 страницу. Снимите флажок с этого чекбокса для ручной конфигурации настроек VPI / VCI. Нажмите Next для продолжения. 26

27 Настройка маршрутизатора (продолжение) Если в чекбоксе DSL Auto-connect не установлен флажок, появится экран, показанный ниже. Введите VPI / VCI, как указано провайдером. А также будет отображены настройки Quality of Service. Проверьте параметры VPI / VCI провайдера. Нажмите на чекбокс, если провайдер предоставил информацию о включении QoS. Здесь показан тип соединения на примере PPPoA. Нажмите Next для продолжения. Для выбора сетевого протокола и режима инкапсуляции, сверьте их со значениями провайдера. 29 Настройка маршрутизатора (продолжение) Имя пользователя и пароль PPP Введите имя пользователя и пароль PPP, предоставленные провайдером. Затем решите, будут ли использоваться какие-нибудь функции, такие как соединение по запросу, расширение PPP IP, keep alive и затем нажмите на Next. Введите имя пользователя и пароль для учетной записи провайдера. Выберите сервис и шлюз по умолчанию как необходимо провайдеру. Нажмите Next для продолжения. 29

30 Настройка маршрутизатора (продолжение) Параметры NAT (преобразование сетевых адресов) Следующий пункт настраивает параметры NAT (преобразование сетевых адресов). Например, NAT будет включен. Оставьте область слева по умолчанию и затем нажмите Next для продолжения. Выберите сервисы, которые необходимо включить на маршрутизаторе. Проверьте сервисы, необходимые провайдеру. Нажмите Next для продолжения. 30

31 Настройка маршрутизатора (продолжение) Установка устройства Можно настроить IP-адрес и маску подсети DSL-маршрутизатора для интерфейса LAN, чтобы они совпадали IP-адресу подсети LAN. Если необходимо, чтобы сервер DHCP автоматически назначал IP-адреса, тогда включите сервер DHCP и введите диапазон IP-адресов, которые сервер DHCP может назначать компьютерам. Отключите сервер DHCP, если необходимо назначать IP-адреса вручную. Нажмите Next для продолжения. Введите IP-адрес и маску подсети для интерфейса LAN. По умолчанию параметр Сервер DHCP включен. В случае необходимости измените этот параметр. Нажмите Next для продолжения. 31

Если необходимо включить функцию, то введите SSID - имя беспроводной сети. Нажмите Next для продолжения. Нажмите на чекбокс, если необходимо включить функцию беспроводного соединения. Эта часть появится на экране, если включена функция. Enable Wireless. Введите имя беспроводной сети (SSID) для маршрутизатора. Нажмите Next для продолжения. 32

33 Настройка маршрутизатора (продолжение) Установка - заключение После того, как сделаны все настройки WAN, появится WAN Setup Summary, отображающий все настройки WAN, которые были сделаны. Проверьте верны ли эти настройки перед тем как нажать на кнопку Save / Reboot. Нажатие на Save / Reboot сохранит настройки и перезагрузит маршрутизатор. Здесь показаны заключительные настройки, которые сделаны при помощи мастера. Нажмите Save/Reboot для сохранения конфигурации и перезагрузите маршрутизатор. 33

Изменение IP-настроек в Windows XP Выполните следующие шаги для настройки компьютера под управлением Windows XP в качестве DHCP-клиента. 1. Нажмите Пуск Панель управления. В окне Сетевые подключения, нажмите правой кнопкой мыши Подключение к локальной сети, затем нажмите Свойства. Нажмите правой кнопкой мыши на иконку Подключение к локальной сети и из выпадающего меню выберите пункт Свойства. 35

36 5. В окне Подключение по локальной сети, во вкладке Общие под заголовком «Компоненты, используемые этим подключением» выделите Протокол Интернета (TCP/IP), щелкнув по нему мышкой один раз. Нажмите кнопку Свойства. Нажмите Свойства. 6. Выберите Получить IP-адрес автоматически, щелкая в центр окружности. Нажмите кнопку OK. Выберите «Получить IPадрес автоматически» в окне Протокол Интернета (TCP/IP) Теперь ваш компьютер готов к использованию DHCP-сервера маршрутизатора. 36
