11 Chapter 1 Introduction SECTION 1 PRODUCT OVERVIEW The Communications Analyst Server is the industry s fastest growing call tracking and management solution for small to mid-sized businesses. This award-winning application quickly generates detailed or summary call reports on local and long distance phone use. Powerful and simple to use, Communications Analyst Server lets you measure productivity, manage costs, monitor fraud calls and create billings. Compatible with most IP or traditional phone switches, Communications Analyst brings enterprise level functionality to growing organizations for a fraction of the typical cost. SECTION 2 BEFORE YOU BEGIN You must ensure that the following hardware and software requirements are met before starting the Communications Analyst installation. Server Side Requirements Hardware Pentium IV with 512 MB RAM 1 GB of free hard disk space VGA monitor 800 X 600 (recommended SVGA monitor 1024 X 768 resolution) Network Interface Card (NIC) CD-ROM drive (if using CD for installation) Serial port and RS-232 cable (if data source is a serial connection to PBX) Printer if you want to print reports Operating Systems supported Windows 2000 Professional with SP 4, Windows XP Professional with SP 2 or Windows 2003 Server with SP 2, Windows Vista Business Edition Software Database Server: MS SQL Server 2005\MS SQL Server Express 2005\MSDE (Microsoft Database Engine)\MS-SQL Server 2000 for database installation Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5 or above Installation Guide 1-1

13 Chapter 2 Installation Instructions SECTION 1 CONNECTING THE SMB8000 COMMUNICATIONS ANALYST SERVER 1. Start/Run the CygnusCA.msi program. 2. Click Next to start the installation process (as shown in Figure 2-1 Setup Process Screen). Figure 2-1 Setup Process Screen 3. In the End User License Agreement (EULA) screen that appears next, check I accept the licensing terms and conditions check box and then click Next to initiate the installation process. Please note, that agreement with the terms of licensing is a prerequisite to continuing with the installation process. Installation Guide 2-1

Select Server Components if you want to install the Communications Analyst Server, CallAlert, Web Reports or the MultiSite Reporting Thin Client feature. Select the Network Client feature if you just want to install the network client utility to be able to connect with remote Communications Analyst server instances. 15 SMB8000 Communications Analyst Issue If you selected to install the Communications Analyst Server in the previous screen, the following screens take you through a step-by-step instruction process for the remainder of the installation. If on the other hand you chose to install the Network Client, please proceed to Section 5 Installing the Network Client Utility on page Figure 2-4 Selecting the Server Components 6. On the server components screen, select from the different components that you would like to install on your machine. This screen has a brief description of each of the components and their functions. Select your components and click Next to proceed. Figure 2-5 Selecting the Server Components Installation Guide 2-3
16 Issue 1.0 SMB8000 Communications Analyst Picking the Web Reports component requires an instance of the Communications Analyst server also to be installed. 7. Depending on the components you selected to install in the previous screen, you will be presented with a prerequisites screen for installing the base libraries/ frameworks. You may/may not get this screen, based on which components were marked for installation. For example, if you select to install the network client, you will not get this screen. On the prerequisite screen, based on the information in the status column, you can choose to install the libraries\frameworks from the installation CD or the Internet. 2-4 Installation Instructions
17 SMB8000 Communications Analyst Issue 1.0 If the status for Install from CD states as Available, you will observe a screen as shown in Figure 2-7 Installing Required Prerequisite from CD. Figure 2-7 Installing Required Prerequisite from CD Clicking the OK button will open a folder, which contains the required prerequisite installer and will terminate the setup process. To install Adobe Acrobat Reader, run the executable AdobeAcrobatReader5.0.exe from the 'Adobe Acrobat' folder. To install Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0, run the executable Dotnetfx.msi from the 'MSNET' folder. To install SQL Express 2005 you need to run the executable SQLExpr.exe from the 'SQLExpress' folder first. During this installation, select Mixed mode Authentication when prompted to select the Authentication mode. After installing SQL Express you need to run the executable SQLServer2005SP2-KB x86-ENU to install the service pack 2 and complete the installation. If you choose to download the installation for the prerequisites from the Internet, then click the Install link in the Install from Web column. Your Internet browser will be launched to assist you with the download. However, please note that downloading from the web terminates the setup process. You will have to re-run the setup once the downloaded component has been installed successfully. This option is recommended only for users familiar with the installation guidelines for the underlying component frameworks and libraries. Figure 2-8 Setup Progress Bar Installation Guide 2-5

If you select the Use an existing SQL DB Server option during installation and if SQL server is not installed on the target system, the installer will install the necessary SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility components to be able to complete the installation process. 10. If you chose to install the Communications Analyst server component, you have the option to either reference the application to point to a local or a remote instance of MS-SQL server. To configure this setting, you need to select the SQL server instance and pass the authentication credentials in the screen shown below. Click Next once you are done with this configuration. The next few steps are based on these settings. Figure 2-9 MS-SQL Server Configuration Screen 11. If the settings made on the previous screen are valid, then you will be prompted to configure the database tables on the MS-SQL server instance. To do this, select the Existing database or New database based on whether you have an installed version of this product or not. 2-6 Installation Instructions
19 SMB8000 Communications Analyst Issue 1.0 If you choose to create a new database for this installation, please enter a name for this database and click Next to proceed with the installation. If you choose to use an existing database for this installation, please select the database name from the drop down list and click Next to proceed with the installation. Please ensure that you have a working version of MS SQL Express (with Service Pack 2) installed on your machine before you perform this action. The functionality exposed on this screen requires a working instance of SQL Express SP2 to be installed on the local machine to work correctly. If all the settings made on the previous screen are correct, you should be able to see a screen as shown in Figure 2-11 Database Configuration Progress Screen. Based on whether you already have an older version of this product installed or not, you will also be prompted to either keep or overwrite the DSN settings for the older version of the product as shown in Figure 2-12 DNS Setting Prompt Screen. 21 SMB8000 Communications Analyst Issue 1.0 On successfully creating the database scheme, you will observe a screen as shown in Figure 2-13 Successful Installation of Database Scheme. Figure 2-13 Successful Installation of Database Scheme 14. On the next screen, you will be prompted to select the installation path for the Communications Analyst on the target machine. This path is populated by default to reference the Program Files directory of the installed Windows directory. You may change the default installation path to reference any other folder by using the Browse button, if required. Finally, click Next to proceed. 22 Issue 1.0 SMB8000 Communications Analyst 15. Next, you will be prompted to select your archiving directory. This directory will be used to store all the Communications Analyst archive data. Enter the directory path in this screen, and click the Save button to begin the installation process. Figure 2-15 Selecting the Archiving Directory 16. Next, you will be prompted for your authentication credentials to configure the Communications Analyst background services. Enter your Windows domain user name and password in this screen to proceed. If the user is a member of Domain, check the check-box then click Save. Figure 2-16 Entering Windows Domain Credential 2-10 Installation Instructions
23 SMB8000 Communications Analyst Issue The next step is to finalize the installation. Click Finish to complete the installation (refer to Figure 2-17 Completing the Installation Process). Figure 2-17 Completing the Installation Process Refer to Section 2 Installing Web Reports, Section 3 Installing the CallAlert Feature, Section 4 Installing the MSR Thin Client, or Section 5 Installing the Network Client Utility for installing additional, optional Communications Analyst components. Refer to Section 6 Connecting to the PBX to configure Communications Analyst to connect to your PBX and start collecting CDR data. Installation Guide 2-11
24 Issue 1.0 SMB8000 Communications Analyst SECTION 2 INSTALLING WEB REPORTS Please ensure that you have installed and started the Microsoft Internet Information Server version 6.0 (IIS) before you proceed with this installation. This section assumes basic configuration knowledge of IIS on the part of the user. 1. If you selected to install the Web Reports feature along with the Communications Analyst Server, you will be prompted with a few additional screens. 25 SMB8000 Communications Analyst Issue 1.0 If Web Reports is selected without installing the Communications Analyst Server, the following message will be shown in Figure 2-19 Selecting the Web Reports Feature. Figure 2-19 Selecting the Web Reports Feature 2. The next screen determines the prerequisites for the web-reporting component. If you do not already have the.net framework 2.0 installed on the web server, then you should install it from the installation CD or download it from the web using the options presented on this screen. For help on using this screen, please refer to Figure 2-6 Prerequisite Configuration Screen on page The next screen determines the location of the default root web directory from the running instance of Microsoft IIS from the target machine and prompts you with this information. Click Next to proceed if this information is accurate. Installation Guide 2-13

Figure 2-21 Web Report Installation Progress Screen SECTION 3 INSTALLING THE CALLALERT FEATURE This section describes the procedure to install the CallAlert feature. 1. If you have selected to install the CallAlert feature in the installation component selection screen described in Figure 2-5 Selecting the Server Components on page 2-3, then you will be prompted with some additional screens. 2. The first screen during the CallAlert installation prompts you to select a path to store the setup files. You may change the path using the Browse button or proceed with the default path. To continue, click Next. Installation Guide 2-15

If you wish for CallAlert to start every time your computer is started, you may configure this setting in the next screen. Click Yes or No to proceed. 29 SMB8000 Communications Analyst Issue Finally, in the next screen click Finish to finalize the CallAlert installation. Please close any existing applications on this machine before proceeding from this screen. Figure 2-24 CallAlert Installation Finalization SECTION 4 INSTALLING THE MSR THIN CLIENT This section describes the procedure to install the MSR Thin Client feature. 1. If you have selected to install the MSR Thin Client feature in the installation component selection screen described in Figure 2-5 Selecting the Server Components on page 2-3, you will be now be prompted with some additional screens. 2. The first screen during the MSR Thin Client installation prompts you to select a path to store the setup files. You may change the path using the Browse button or proceed with the default path. The next few screens will confirm the installation of the MSR Thin Client and finalize the installation. Please ensure that all open applications are closed before you finalize this installation Installation Instructions
31 SMB8000 Communications Analyst Issue 1.0 SECTION 5 INSTALLING THE NETWORK CLIENT UTILITY This section describes the procedure to install the Network Client Utility to access the Communications Analyst server remotely from another computer on a network. 1. If you have selected to install the Network Client, in the installation component selection screen described in Figure 2-3 Installation Components Selection Screen on page 2-2 then you will be prompted with some additional screens. 2. The first screen prompts you to point to the installation path for the Communications Analyst server over the network. Please use the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) while entering this information during the installation. Figure 2-26 Select Install Path to the Communications Analyst Server Executable 3. The next screen prompts you for database configuration for the Network Client Utility. Enter the information presented in this screen to finalize this installation. 32 Issue 1.0 SMB8000 Communications Analyst SECTION 6 CONNECTING TO THE PBX Multi Site Process Manager (MSPM) monitors your PBX connection for phone records and saves them into a database for Communications Analyst Server. For details on MSPM, refer to the on line help files. 1. Click the Windows Start button, point to Programs, and then click the Communication Analyst Server shortcut folder. 2. Select Multi Site Configuration. The Multi Site Configuration window appears. Figure 2-28 Multi Site Configuration Window From the Sites pane, select the site for which you want to configure the Call Data Manager. The site code and the site name appear in the Site Code and the Site Name boxes respectively. You can add or delete a site, if required Installation Instructions
33 SMB8000 Communications Analyst Issue 1.0 In the Phone System drop down, select the switches that you use in your phone system. In the Call Data Source pane, select the call data source. Comm Port or TCP/IP are the connection methods primarily used to collect CDR data. 3. Comm Port Settings In the Port pane, select the serial port to which you want to connect the PBX CDR serial port. In the Communication Settings pane, configure the baud rate, parity data bits and stop bits settings to match those on the PBX CDR serial port. To configure the serial port using the configuration tool, click Configure. 4. TCP/IP Settings In the IP Address box, type the IP address of the CDR TCP Server. In the Port Number box, type the port number on the CDR TCP Server to which you want to connect. In the Advanced Option pane, select any or all of the following option: Dialed number in call data output includes the trunk access code prefix: Select this option, to dial a digit (such as 8 or 9) to access a trunk line. You need to select this option only if your phone system prefixes this access digit to the phone number in the data output by the phone system (91800XXXXXXX). Discard extra digits dialed after phone number: Select this option to show any extra digits dialed after the phone number. For example, digits dialed to access a phone card or for automated phone systems (DTMF digits). Member of a multi-site installation: Select this option, to use the installation of the Communications Analyst Server as a part of the multi-site installation. If you select this option, then you need to enter a site code. You can also configure your local and toll free area codes as follows: Local Area Code: Enter your local area code (such as 503). This area code is tagged with all the local calls and is useful in generating reports. Other Toll Free Area Codes: Enter your toll free area codes (such as 503). This code is tagged with all toll free or long distance calls and useful in generating reports. You can add or delete codes, if required. 5. After updating the Multi Site configuration, click Save. 6. Go to Start Run from the Windows task bar, type in services.msc, and click OK. The Windows Services console will open up. If the Multi Site Process Manager service is already running, restart it. If it is not running, start the service. Installation Guide 2-21
