Productivity enhancements include a real time screen data historian and multi-windowing of drive parameter tables. System Requirements Supported Operating Systems 1. Windows XP (x86) with Service Pack 3 2. Windows 7 (x86 and x64). Validated editions are Professional and Ultimate editions. 3. Windows 8 or 8.1 (x86 and x64). Do not use ADDapt 3 on Windows 8 RT. 4. Windows Server Windows Server 2012 Supported Architecture Bit (x86) Bit (x64) Hardware Requirements 1. Computer that has a 2.2 GHz or faster processor MB of available hard disk space 3. Operating System Memory Requirement a. Windows XP SP3 : 1 GB b. Windows 7, Window 8 (32-bit) : 2 GB i. For best performance, use 4 GB RAM c. Windows 7, Window 8 (64-bit) : 4 GB i. For best performance, use 8 GB RAM Prerequisites 1..Net Framework 4 2. Microsoft Report Viewer 2010

Additional Notes 1..Net Framework 4 and Microsoft Report Viewer 2010 will automatically install during the ADDapt 3 installation process if not present on the target computer. 2. Administrative Privileges are required to install ADDapt 3 3. A computer with multiple cores (such as Intel Core i5) is recommended to take advantage of the parallel features of ADDapt 3 and.net Framework 4 4. ADDapt 3 was developed for a Windows 7 and Windows 8 resolution. For best performance, use a minimum resolution of 1280x1024; however, 1366x768 is also supported. 5. A Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) is now available to easily access the most common features of ADDapt 3. By making use of the Stand-alone table editors, minimizing the Ribbon and using the QAT, ADDapt 3 can be used on a screen that is much smaller than the recommended resolution. Page 2 of 25

Installation On the installation media or folder, locate and run the file ADDapt3_setup.exe. The installation will take one of two paths. If this is the first time ADDapt3 is being installed, the installation wizard will show a series of screens that are distinctly different from when ADDapt3 is already installed. This section presents both paths. Note: An account with Administrative Rights must be used to install ADDapt 3. New Installation Before ADDapt 3 is installed, the installer checks for the existence of the prerequisite requirements. These requirements are the.net 4 Framework and Microsoft Report Viewer. These two products usually are already installed on Windows 7 and Windows 8 systems. However, they may not be present on a Windows XP SP3 system. If these products are not present, the ADDapt 3 installation will automatically install them. Installing these products requires Administrative Rights as they are registered in the System Registry. On a Windows XP SP3 system, the Microsoft Report Viewer requires a minimum of 1 GB of RAM. Please verify that the target computer has this minimum amount of memory. A special note on the prerequisite installation: The installation of.net Framework 4 is a Microsoft product installation. Follow the prompts to properly install the framework. A reboot is required after the installation. After the reboot, continue the ADDapt 3 installation by executing the ADDapt 3 setup - with the same Administrative enabled account from which the installation commenced. On the installation media or folder, locate and run the file ADDapt3_ setup.exe. Note: On some computers, a UAC Notification appears if the UAC settings are configured to notify the user when software is installed on the target computer. Click Yes to proceed. Figure 1 UAC Notification when installing ADDapt 3 For new installation, the following screen appears. If ADDapt3 has already been installed on the target computer, please refer to the section titled Remove/Repair Installation. Hit Next to continue Page 3 of 25

If the target computer has an older version of ADDapt 3, this next step will remove that older version. This will not remove the current or a newer version of ADDapt 3. Figure 4 Search for and remove older versions of ADDapt 3 The final step is to configure the shortcuts to ADDapt 3. By default, both the Desktop and Start Menu Programs folder options are checked. When installed on a Windows 8 system, a tile is also created so that ADDapt 3 can be selected from the Metro interface without first proceeding into the Desktop. Page 6 of 25

After selecting Install, the installation proceeds. Click Finish to end the installation; ADDapt 3 automatically starts. Figure 6 Finish Installation Page 8 of 25

Remove/Repair Installation With the advent of v1.0.1, any previous versions of ADDapt 3 will automatically be removed by the installer. However, if a beta or released candidate version of v1.0.1 is installed, these must first be removed through Programs and Features found in the Control Panel. The ADDapt 3 installation package gives the option of removing / repairing the current version by executing it on a computer that already has it installed. When starting the ADDapt 3 installation on a computer with ADDapt 3 installed, the following screen appears Figure 7 Starting the ADDapt 3 installation on a computer with ADDapt 3 on it Page 9 of 25

The next screen is where ADDapt 3 is removed or repaired. Selecting Add or Remove Features or Repair/Reinstall will reinstall ADDapt 3. Selecting Remove will remove ADDapt 3 from the computer. 13 ADDapt 3 Tips Trial License The three (3) day trial period starts after the first installation of ADDapt 3. If ADDapt 3 has not been used in a few days, that is, for more than the three trial period, all buttons will be locked out except for the Key Code button. If a reinstallation of ADDapt 3 is performed after the three day trial period has expired, the buttons will be locked out. It is recommended that a Product Code is entered at the beginning of the trial period so that the trial license does not expire at an inopportune time. To obtain a product code, navigate to the Security tab and click Key Code. Note the Key Code and call Nidec Avtron Field Service ( , ext. 1214, M-F, 8-5 EST) as directed to obtain a product code for your installation. Figure 9 ADDapt3 locked out when trial license expires Figure 10 The Key Code is located in the Security Tab Page 13 of 25

Figure 11 Temporary License Indicator Figure 12 Trial License Expired Scan for Drives There are a few factors that may interfere with 'Scan for Drives' If the laptop is coming out of hibernation mode, occasionally the interface will not recognize the response to a UDP message. Shutdown the computer and start it back up to alleviate this issue Verify your switch is configured to allow UDP multicast broadcasting. It has been noted that if switches are configured in a cascading mode, UDP multicasting broadcast may be disabled thus interfering with the Scan For Drives operation. Occasionally a virtual machine will interfere with the UDP messages. Disable the VM interface and try Scan For Drives again. Verify the network cables are fully connected on both ends. If 'Scan for Drives' is performed immediately after the power to the drive is restored, the drive will not be found. Please wait for the drive to enable the Ethernet card (about 45 seconds) before initiating the Scan for Drives After zapping an ADD32 drive, the Ethernet card will initialize and be available before the drive is available. This means we can ping the drive but not query it. There is a latency issue between the Ethernet card and the drive. The same issue arises when installing a new ESBX card. Ethernet Connectivity Issues Follow these tips for any connectivity issues Verify that the ADDapt3 host computer IP Address is not the same as any of the drives, other computers or any virtual machines on the host computer. For example, if the drive is using , verify that the host computer is NOT using Verify that the ADDapt3 host computer is using the same class address range as the drive. For example, if the drive is using , then verify that host computer uses x where x is between 1 and 255 AND not 2 By default, a laptop will go to sleep after so much time has elapsed. This will disconnect all Ethernet communications. Change the power settings so that the host computer does not sleep when power is connected. Serial Connectivity Issues Here are some serial communications tips: Expect serial communications to be slower than Ethernet. Using ADDapt3 with signal analyzer on ADD32+ is really slow because there are more channels and data points than ADD32. It is recommended to carry an Ethernet card along, install it and use the Ethernet card with ADDapt3. Page 14 of 25

CAL/CFG filename lengths Follow these rules when saving a Cal/Cfg file from ADDapt 3: 1. If it is your intention to load the saved Cal/Cfg file to an ADD32+ drive via a USB device (such as a flash drive), then the file name must be no more than 11 characters. 2. If it is your intention to download, compare, print, edit the saved Cal/Cfg via ADDapt 3 but not load the file via a USB stick, then the filename length is limited to the Windows 7 file size. A filename length of 64 characters was successfully tested during ADDapt 3 testing. It is recommend not to use a filename length longer than 64 characters based on the following from Microsoft: Windows usually limits file names to 260 characters. But the file name must actually be shorter than that, since the complete path (such as C:\Program Files\filename.txt) is included in this character count. This is why you might occasionally encounter an error when copying a file with a very long file name to a location that has a longer path than its current location. Managing a mixed site of ADDapt 3 and ADDapt2000 computers Even though ADDapt 3 can read Cal/Cfg files (.add) created by ADDapt2000, ADDapt2000 cannot read ADDapt 3 Cal/Cfg files. This can lead to confusion because the extension of a Cal/Cfg file created by ADDapt2000 is the same as those created by ADDapt3. Naming recommendations In the case of the site where there are both ADDapt 3 and ADDapp2000 computers, it is recommended to prefix your Cal/Cfg file created by ADDapt 3 with! to provide a visual distinction just by looking at the filename; e.g.!fs1.add as shown below: Converting a Cal/Cfg file from ADDapt 3 format to ADDapt2000 format As stated earlier, ADDapt 3 can read both ADDapt2000 and ADDapt 3 Cal/Cfg files but ADDapt2000 cannot read ADDapt 3 Cal/Cfg files. If a need arises where an ADDapt2000 computer must read an ADDapt 3 Cal/Cfg file, follow these steps to convert the Cal/Cfg file from ADDapt 3 to ADDapt2000 using the targeted drive as the mediator; e.g. DRIVE01: 1. Start ADDapt 3 a. Open a configuration file (.cfg) containing DRIVE01. If DRIVE01 is not already enabled, enable it so that it comes online (DRIVE01 turns green). b. Open the Cal/Cfg file created from DRIVE01, e.g.!drive01.add c. From the file menu, choose Download to Drive. d. Select DRIVE01 from the Online Drives drop down list to download the Cal/Cfg file (!DRIVE01.add to DRIVE01) e. Exit ADDapt 3 2. Start ADDapt2000 a. Open a configuration file (.cfg) containing DRIVE01. If DRIVE01 is not already online, click the check box to go online with the drive. b. Choose Upload from Drive from the Tools menu. c. Specify a name for the Cal/Cfg file; e.g. DRIVE01.add. Select the drive and click Upload. Page 15 of 25

ADDapt2000 v12 and ADDapt 3 compatibility issues COM Server Be aware that there are compatibility issues when running both ADDapt2000 v12 and ADDapt 3 on the same computer. These issues arise over the use of the COM Server (Add32.exe) which requires appropriate registration in the system registry. Two command procedures are provided in which to accomplish the task. Run registeraddapt3comserver.bat to register the ADDapt 3 COM Server. Run registeraddapt2000v12comserver.bat to register the ADDapt2000 v12 COM Server. A scenario for using these COM servers are as follows: if ADDapt 3 is currently being used but ADDapt2000 v12 needs to be used to attach to a drive, first register the ADDapt2000 v12 COM Server by executing the batch procedure registeraddapt2000v12comserver.bat. Both batch procedures must be run with elevated privileges by right clicking the desired batch file and choosing Run As Administrator Figure 13 Run COM Server batch file with elevated privileges Downloading ADDapt2000v12 cal/cfg file using ADDapt3 When opening a cal/cfg file (*.add) created by ADDapt2000 v12, be aware that there are four (4) analyzer tables defined in this file. When downloading this file to an ADD32+ drive, which has eight (8) analyzer tables, an error will occur during the download because of this mismatch. Before downloading a cal/cfg file created by ADDapt2000 v12 to an ADD32+ drive, the file must first be saved in ADDapt 3 format which has the additional four analyzer channels defined with default values for a total of eight (8) analyzer channels. It is this file that is downloaded to the ADD32+ drive. For example: Page 16 of 25

A2Test.add is a cal/cfg file for v12 created by ADDapt2000 v12. A2Test.add is opened in ADDapt 3 and is saved as A3Test.add A3Test.add is opened by ADDapt 3 and downloaded to the drive with v12 software. 32-Bit limitation in all Tables By definition, the floating point consists of 3 binary fields, sign, exponent, and fraction. As a result, the 32-bit numeric representation is 7 digits. So when entering the decimal value into numeric fields on the maintenance table, the values after seven digits will be rounded. A fix would be to only enter six digits Network Configuration Notes Properly setting network adapter settings When running ADDapt 3 through a wired connection with wireless turned on, be aware that on some computers and laptops, the wireless connection (or another connection) has the priority connection. This will degrade ADDapt 3 performance. Setting the wired connection as the priority connection is done through the Change adapter settings. The only way to access it is to go to the Network and Sharing Center. Figure 14 Selecting 'Change adapter settings' Page 17 of 25

Click on Change adapter settings, then press the ALT key to show the menu bar. Go to Advanced and, finally, Advanced Settings. Figure 15 Selecting 'Advanced Settings' This will display the Change Adapter Settings dialog box. Look at the Connections. If the Local Area Connection this is the wired connection is not listed on the list, it must be moved to the top of the list. To do this, select Local Area Connection followed by the green up arrow button. Press this button until Local Area Connection is on top of the list. Verify that both Internet Protocol Version 6 items are unchecked. Select OK and reboot the computer. Figure 16 Moving Local Area Connection to top of list Page 18 of 25

Network Metrics In addition to properly configuring the network adapter order, the network metrics may have to be tweaked as well. When more than one network connection is available, Windows uses the one with the lowest metric value as the priority networking route. By default, Windows automatically assigns a metric value based on the network connection s rated speed. When using a wired connection in a multiple network computer, set the wired connection to the lowest metric setting. For example, when using a laptop with both a wired and wireless connection, follow this table: Network Connection Metric Local Area Connection (Wired) 10 Wireless Network Connection 20 Table 1 Network connections metric values To force Windows to use a specific network connection, assign a metric to each network connection giving the lowest value to the desired connection. Open the Change Adapter Settings in the Network and Sharing Center found in Control Panel (see Figure 14). Right click the desired connection. Choose Properties. Figure 17 Choosing Connection Properties Click Internet Protocol 4 and choose Properties Page 19 of 25

Figure 18 Choose IPv4 properties Next, choose Advanced where the metric value is set Page 20 of 25

Figure 19 Select IPv4 Advanced Properties Now, set the network metrics by un-checking Automatic metric and entering a number between 1 and 9999 for the Interface metric. Page 21 of 25

Resolved Issues Project: ADDaptv3 Server: aiafs1\rd Query: ADDapt3_v _ResolvedItems List type: Flat [Offline] ID Title 1549 ADDapt 3 requires Admin privs to run 1528 In the Realtime screen can change a loc bit from high to low when drive is disabled 1563 Incorrect information is displayed when changing analog and digital parameters that are out of limits 1511 Real Time - Digital bit changing performs slowly over serial connection 1564 Real Time Analogs and Digitals stop polling when clicking on a disabled digital button 1560 Real-Time stays online after drive has been disabled responding to the state of the drive 1512 Scan For Drives did not work for SR Drive 1513 Signal Analyzer - Reads uses Constant Rates as opposed to dynamic calculations 1562 Updating an empty parameter in the real-time screen crashes the ADD32 COM Server Known Issues Through testing, these are the known issues with ADDapt 3 v at the time of release. ID Title 1354 Issue: User not informed when a serial link is disconnected. When the serial is disconnected the observable forms along with the drive tree, still indicate the drive is online. However, when disconnected during Upload/Download everything says faulted. When it says it has faulted, everything works as it should, while when it says the drive is still online exceptions can be thrown. Workaround: This is a carryover from ADDapt2000. Do not unplug the serial connection until you first close ADDapt Issue: Manually Changing IP address through ADDapt 3 with an offline maintenance editor will not communicate when online again Workaround: Make sure all file maintenance editors are closed before manually changing the IP Address 1296 Issue: In the signal analyzer, if a file is opened with the open button, and then another file is opened with the browse button, the second file's data will not automatically appear. The graph will only show the data when visible is clicked off then back on. Workaround: Be continuous on which button to use 948 Multiple users on the same computer require different product codes Workaround: If it is your desire to have ADDapt 3 run on multiple user accounts on the same computer, a product code will be necessary for each user account. Please call the Avtron Field Service Dept. at , ext. 1214, M-F, 8-5 EST. ADDapt 3 is flaky when installed from an account marked as Administrator Workaround: It has been noticed that when ADDapt 3 is installed from an account marked as Administrator but it is not THE Administrator account, then ADDapt 3 will act flaky (tables not properly updating from editor, real-time screen not properly updating). This is because the COM Server is not marked as elevated. Properly following the installation instructions resolves this problem. Run the batch file, register_add32.bat, as Administrator. Page 24 of 25

1340 Signal Analyzer: Saving configuration file while disconnected from the network (after channel is triggered) causes extreme delay Workaround: If drive goes offline while a channel is triggered, reconnect either your computer or drive to the network before saving the analyzer configuration file 1351 If a value is changed on the drive, the maintenance editors show the change but on exit the user has not be notified changes have been made. This is a carryover from ADDapt When a real time window is first opened, and then the digital configuration is opened, the save configuration will already be available. If the save button were to be clicked the digitals are populated with 12 grey boxes. Workaround: This is more of an annoyance. First open a file or define a digital before saving the digital configuration 1466 With network connections disabled, adding a drive manually throws exception Verify network adapters are enabled before adding a drive 1525 After flashing drive with new software and it comes back online with a new part and version number, can get the tree to have the wrong part and version number Do not flash a drive when a drive is listed in the tree 1410 Opening analyzer channels 5 thru 8 after setting the invisibility for channel 2 of opened channels 1 thru 4 will cause either 5,6,7 or 8 to become invisible Before opening channels 5 thru 8, set the visibility of channel 2 to true 1462 Opening a drive maintenance editor a second time will not allow the drive to be removed from the tree This is low priority issue. Close the configuration and re-open it 1480 When opening 8 analyzer channels, setting one of the channels to off, closing the analyzer and opening eight additional analyzer channels will leave the channel that was set as invisible as invisible Before closing the analyzer, verify that all channels are visible 1499 The first graph's Y axis has a precision of one digit, the second is two digits and the rest are four digits. This is a known issue with the graphing control Procurement Order part number from Nidec Avtron Automation; call press 4 for ordering. Page 25 of 25
