2 2 How to Use the Snipping Tool to Capture Images of your Screen (Win 10) In Windows 10 you can use the Snipping Tool to capture a screen shot, or snip, of anything on your screen. You can annotate, save, or share the image after capturing. You can capture: a free form snip (draw a line around a portion of your screen) rectangular snip capture a specific window (i.e. dialog box, error message, or browser window) or capture the entire contents of your screen. First we will need to locate the Snipping Tool and add it to your Taskbar (blue bar that runs along the bottom of your screen). 1. 4 Scroll down, left click arrow to expand Windows Accessories. RIGHT click Snipping Tool. Hover over More. Left click Pin to taskbar. This image shows the Start menu,left click All Apps

5 5 Open the window you want to take a snip of 7. Left click Snipping Tool when you are ready to capture an image (if you are capturing a portion of a screen, that screen must be showing on your monitor). 8. Left click arrow next to New. This image shows the Snipping Tool in my Taskbar. Left click on the Snipping Tool when you have your desired window open. 7 This image shows the Snipping Tool after I clicked on it to open the tool. I have my Internet browser open to the TurnerTime web page. 8 Choose Free-form Snip if you would like to draw a random shape around the portion of the screen you wish to capture. Choose Window Snip if you want to capture a shot of one window only Choose Full-screen Snip if you would like to capture everything being displayed on your computer.

6 6 Your screen will lighten and the open window will be displayed. Your cursor will turn into a plus sign. In this screen you will select the portion of the screen to insert. 9. Left click bottom corner of area to insert. 10. Drag cursor to include the part of the screen to insert. This image shows an example of my screen after I have followed steps 1-8. Left click at a starting point, and drag your cursor over the area you want to Snip. 9

7 When you release your mouse button a Snipping Tool window will open with your image inside. Use the tools in the top left corner to work with your image. You can save it, copy it to the clipboard, the image, or use the marking tools to annotate the image. This image shows the Snipping Tool window open with my copy of the image inside.
