9 2 1 Configuring the motor data for the drive: Startdrive provides 2 wizards to help parameterize the G120 Drive. The Drive on SIMATIC motion control axis wizard is designed to automatically configure most of the parameters required to work with the motion technology object (or axis) on the CPU. 1. Open Drive_1 -> Parameter editor in the Project tree 2. Select Drive on SIMATIC motion control axis Customer Benefit -> Easy setup of Sinamics G120 drives Easy configuration and setup of the Sinamics drives can be done within the TIA Portal when Startdrive is installed. After a drive is added to the project, additional editors allow the user to easily parameter, commission and get diagnostics on the drive. Page 9 October 12, 2015

19 Speed Technology Object Communication between the PLC and Drive is done with an Axis Technology Object in the PLC. The Axis Technology Object (TO) does the following: The TO is the interface between the PLC and Drive It translates what we want to tell the drive in a language it understands It provides a graphical interface that makes it easy for the user to setup the axis parameters It provides a set of default parameters that allows the user to get the motor turning as quickly as possible Page 19 October 12, 2015

Customer Benefit -> Easy communication between PLC and Drive The user does not need to be an expert on PLC and Drive communications. Each one of the PLC Open blocks has an Axis input pin to tell it which axis in the project is the block referring to. This handles the communication between the PLC and Drive, so the user only needs to add the code that triggers a drive enable, jog, move, stop, etc. Page 43 October 12, 2015

Change the speed on the fly by moving the upper potentiometer on the kit and continue to press either the << or >> jog buttons 5. You can also control the motor via the Start > and Stop [] buttons. Note to change the speed, you must press the > button again for the new speed value to take effect Note: If there is an error use RESET to do a reset. 6. When finished, select the PLC_1 object in the project tree and select the Go offline button.
