3 1 Assignment of tasks In this example a normal Ethernet network card is used that implements the communication over the OPC server as PROFINET IO controller with a S7 station as PROFINET IO Device on Industrial Ethernet. 1.1 Condition There are the following configuration tools: NCM PC: NCM PC is supplied with the SIMATIC NET CD and allows you to create PC projects and open STEP 7 projects. It is, however, not possible to edit S7 blocks in the STEP 7 project with this software. STEP 7: STEP 7 is a separate software package with which you can create S7-400, S7-300 and PC projects. S7 blocks can be edited with this software. It `s assumed that STEP 7 is installed and that the project engineering for the S7 station already exists. In chapter 2 Configuration of the PC station is described the configuration of the PC station so that you can use it as PROFINET IO controller on a S7 station, which works as PROFINET IO device. 2 Configuration of the PC station After successful completion of the hardware and software installation of the SIMATIC NET CD and the configuration tool and after restarting your computer, you start

4 2 Configuration of the PC station After successful completion of the hardware and software installation of the SIMATIC NET CD and the configuration tool and after restarting your computer, you start NCM PC or STEP 7 with "Start (in Windows XP: All Programs ) SIMATIC SIMATIC Manager or SIMATIC NCM PC Manager or using the desktop icon of the same name. Open the STEP 7 project with the configuration of the S7 station. Figure 2-1 opening the STEP 7 project Confirm the selection of the project (in the example: "Example S7-300") with OK. 5 Give the PC station you have just inserted the same name as your computer (in the example: "SIMATIC PC Station"). Now open the hardware configuration of the PC station by selecting the PC station, then pressing the right mouse button and selecting "Open Object". Now place your PC module in this rack (for example by dragging them from the hardware catalog). In this example the PC module IE General is configured because a normal Ethernet network card is used for the communication. The PROFINET IO controller and the PROFINET IO device are assigned to the same Ethernet subnet. For this reason select the Ethernet subnet which is assigned to the S7 station. 9 Select the OPC server in the hardware catalog and then drag it to any slot. Therefore right click the PC module IE General in the rack and select the menu command Insert PROFINET IO System. V /22

In the hardware catalog select the CP343-1 Lean under PROFINET IO I/O SIMATIC S7-CP. Assign it to the PROFINET IO system with drag & drop. Following double click the PROFINET IO device. So the property view of the PROFINET IO device will open (see Figure 2-10 property view of the PROFINET IO device). V /22

13 Under Available devices you select the PROFINET IO device to which the device name is assigned. Click on the button Assign name. So the device name is assigned to the PROFINET IO device CP343-1Lean. Close the dialog with ok. In this example 16 Byte DI and 16 Byte DO are configured. Save and compile the configuration with the menu command Station Save and Compile. Download the configuration into PC station with the menu command PLC Download NOTE Note that the access point TCP/IP or PC internal is set under Setting the PG/PC Interface. Furthermore in the station configuration editor the modules (OPC server and IE General) have to be set to the same slots like in the hardware configuration (see Figure 2-14 Station Configuration Editor). 15 3 Configuration of the S7 station as PROFINET IO device Open the hardware configuration of the S7 station which is used as PROFINET IO device. In this example a CP343-1Lean is used in the S7 station to connect it to the PROFINET IO system as PROFINET IO device. Figure 3-1 hardware configuration Open the property view of the CP343-1Lean. 16 Activate the function Enable PROFINET IO device operation in the property view of the CP343-1Lean register PROFINET. Enter the device name which you have assigned to the CP343-1Lean. This device name has to be consistent with the name which you have entered in the property view of the PROFINET IO device (see Figure 2-10 property view of the PROFINET IO device). Close the dialog with OK. Save and compile the hardware configuration of the S7 station with the menu command Station Save and Compile Following download the configuration into PLC with the menu command PLC Download. S7 program Because the S7-300 is connected to the PROFINET IO system over a CP343-1Lean you have to call cyclic the function blocks FC11 PNIO_SEND and FC12 PNIO_RECV in the S7 program of the S V /22

18 4 Start of the OPC-Scout Start the OPC Scout with "Start SIMATIC SIMATIC NET OPC Scout". Double-click the OPC.SimaticNet for the connection with the SIMATIC NET OPC server. The "OPC-Navigator" opens. You will now see your protocols in the OPC Navigator. V /22

You can access the configured inputs and outputs which are shown in the OPC-Navigator. In the OPC-Navigator select the inputs i0 and move the existing item to the right-hand window with the button. If the quality of the items is good the connection is established between PC station and S7 station. So it is possible to read and write respectively the OPC items. V /22
