2 How to install and configure the ICEM License Manager on Windows 2000 Please insert the ICEM Surf 4.3 Release CDROM. The Installer will start automatically. If not, please go to d:\setup where d:\ is your local cdrom drive where the ICEM Installation CDROM is in. The setup is starting with the following screen:

Please deselect the Product ICEM Surf 4.3.

3 Please deselect the Product ICEM Surf and select FlexLM License Manager 8.3: Click on [Next]

Change or modify the installation path, if wished. The FlexLM License Manager is only available in English, so there is no need to change the language.

5 Now optional settings can be made. If selected, the will be shortcuts available on your PC to configure the FlexLM License Manager 8.3 on your machine. The next window will allow you define where this shortcut should appear on your machine. Select as you prefer.

6 We recommend having a short cut on your desktop for easy access. You can specify the name in the menu Program Folder Windows [Start] button -> Program -> Default is: [FlexLM License Manager 8.3] Well,... ;-)

7 After confirming with [Yes] you will be informed about the status of the installation: Click on [Next] This will ask you to exit or proceed with the installation. Decide as you like. The installation of the FlexLM License Manager 8.3 is finished.

8 How to configure the ICEM License Manager on Windows This configuration example is based on a default installation of the FlexLM License Manager on c:\icem\flexlm-8.3. Please adapt if you have installed on a different drive or location. If you have received a license file from the ICEM License Department, please copy this to the FlexLM License Manager Installation directory and name it license.dat C:\icem\flexlm-8.3\license.dat Please start the FlexLM Configuration tool. You will find an Icon on your desktop (if selected during the installation) or find a Windows Start menu entry (if selected during the installation). If none of the above listed, please open your file browser and go to the FlexLM License Manager Installation directory. Start the FlexLM License Manager using the Icon, Program folder or a double click on the file flexlm.cpl This will pop up a small applet

9 Please go to [Setup] and enter a new name in the field labeled [Service Name] i.e. [ICEM License Manager]. Click on [Browse] for the License Manager This is beside the label [lmgrd.exe] and go to C:\icem\flexlm-8.3. Please select lmgrd.exe and confirm with Open Click on [Browse] for the license file This is beside the label [License File] and go to C:\icem\flexlm-8.3. Please select license.dat and confirm with Open Click on [Browse] for the License log file. This is beside the label [Debug Log File] and go to C:\icem\flexlm-8.3. Please enter Debug.log and confirm with Save. This will be the log file for diagnostics of the FlexLM License Manager later on. Every other name and location is valid. If you select [Use NT Services], Windows will handle the license mechanism for you and ensure that the license manager is running all the time when started up. But you would have to start it manually each time you reboot your machine. And not each user of the machine will have the rigth to do so. So please select also [Start Server at Power Up] and Windows will do it for you each time the PC is started.

10 Please select [Licenses] and confirm the next question with [Yes] to proceed. Click on [Show License file] and an Editor will open with the license.dat you have specified and is listed on this [Licenses] tab.

Make sure that the leading and trailing brackets do not exist any more (see below) Second step we have to modify the path to the ICEM vendor deamon, who will handle your ICEM licenses for you. The ICEM License Department generates a dummy name which is UNIX based. Please change to c:\icem\flexlm-8.3\icem.exe. If you have a Catia Interface available, we need a third party vendor deamon. 12 After this, please save and close the file and go back to the FlexLM License Manager configuration tool [Control]. Please check [Status] there will appear an error because the server is not running.

13 Do not worry about. This is the right behavior. If you will get a different message. Please check for an other running FlexLM License Manager and refer to the manual or contact the ICEM HELPdesk. Next step is to start the Server. Click on [Start] A message on the bottom should appear. Server Started. To check, please click on [Status] again:
