1 To: Predator DNC Administrator From: Sent: August 20, 2001 Subject: Predator DNC Setups are organized into seperate steps. Complete each step in order before proceding. Refer to Predator DNC's manual and the CNC's manual(s) for more details. NOTE: Due to the number of vendors, builders, OEMs, and retrofiters Predator Software can not guarantee that every Predator DNC Setup will work with every CNC control. Step #1 Step #2 Wiring Diagrams We recommend Predator Grizzly Cables for all of your RS-232 and RS-422 needs. Setup NOTE: Only change CNC parameters if necessary, always write down the original settings. To change parameters at the CNC, step through the following procedure. 3 Step #4 Predator Setup To configure Predator, select Properties from the DNC menu or toolbar button. The following or similar Properties dialog box is displayed. Set Predator to match: TECH TIP: COM1 is often used for the mouse. Select the appropriate COM port. NOTE: Use Predator DNC Administrator to change properties. Set the following values in the Strings Tab within the Properties dialog box. 4 Step #5 Receive from CNC Tutorial From Predator: 1.) Select the appropriate CNC icon. 2.) Select the Receive from CNC command using the DNC menu, toolbar button, or right mouse button. 3.) Select an existing filename to overwrite or type a new filename. 4.) Select the Save button. 1.) Select EDIT mode on the Fanuc control. 2.) Press the O key and type the program number. 3.) Press the INPUT key. 4.) Press the PUNCH key. Punch Parameters 1. Press Setting. 2. Press Service. 3. Press Punch 4. Press All. NOTE: Troubleshoot any communications problems until Receive from CNC is working. Once Receive from CNC works, continue with Send to CNC and DNC. Step #6 Send to CNC Tutorial From Predator: 1.) Select the appropriate CNC icon. 2.) Select the Send to CNC command using the DNC menu, toolbar button, or right mouse button. 3.) Select an existing filename. 4.) Select the Open button. 1. Select EDIT mode on the Fanuc control. 2. Press Program Softkey. 2. Press the chapter softkey until Read appears on the screen. 3. Press the O key and type the program number. 4 Press the READ key. Step #7 DNC Tutorial From Predator: 1.) Select the appropriate CNC icon. 2.) Select the DNC command using the DNC menu, toolbar button, or right mouse button. 3.) Select an existing filename. 4.) 5 Step Remote Receive Tutorial #8 1.) Edit or MDI a Remote Receive CNC program and specify the appropriate filename. 2.) Punch the Remote Receive CNC program to Predator DNC. 3.) Punch the actual CNC program to be saved. Predator DNC uses the file specified in Step #1. Remote Receive Examples: (SAVE FILENAME.EXT) (SAVE LONG FILENAME.EXT) (SAVE /SUBDIR/FILENAME.EXT) (SAVE /SUB DIRECTORY/LONG FILENAME.EXT) NOTE: Sub directories specified in a Remote CNC program are appended to the values specified in the Directories tab within the Properties dialog box. 6 Step #9 Remote Send Tutorial 1.) Edit or MDI a Remote Send CNC program and specify the appropriate filename. 2.) Punch the Remote Send CNC program to Predator DNC. 3.) Read the actual CNC program to be loaded. Predator DNC uses the file specified in Step #1. Remote Send Examples: 1. Move the mode select to Edit. 2. Press Program Softkey. 3. Edit the file (LOAD FILENAME) line with new filename. 4. Press the chapter softkey until Punch appears on the screen. 5. Press This softkey 6. Press the Chapter key until Read is displayed. 7. Press Read then All. (LOAD FILENAME.EXT) (LOAD LONG FILENAME.EXT) (LOAD /SUBDIR/FILENAME.EXT) (LOAD /SUB DIRECTORY/LONG FILENAME.EXT) NOTE: Sub directories specified in a Remote CNC program are appended to the values specified in the Directories tab within the Properties dialog box. 7 Step Remote DNC Tutorial #10 1.) Edit or MDI a Remote Send CNC program and specify the appropriate filename. 2.) Punch the Remote Send CNC program to Predator DNC. 3.) DNC the actual CNC program. Predator DNC uses the file specified in Step #1. Step #11 Troubleshooting NOTE: The following is specific to this CNC and not designed to be a general guide. DNC with software flow control on Fanuc 11 requires XON/XOFF is enabled with parameter At your service, Technical Support Predator Software Inc.
