OPERATING THE APPLICATION Assuming that databases exist and hardware is properly connected, SESAM can start functioning with its entire modules, or part of them, based upon the application. Login To login, press the KEY button. The Login window will be opened. Select the desired user name out of Login list. Enter your password to Password field and press the Logon button or ENTER. In order to operate the system and update database definitions, the system requires an authorized user logged on. Different users with different authorizations will be able to operate the system differently. For more information, see Login Utility. Log out Users can logout of the system to allow different users to log in or make the system working in read-only mode. This way, events will continue entering the Event Table but would not be able to be acknowledged or reset. Cameras can be opened but not recording manually. To logout, press the KEY button. The Login window will be opened. Select the currently logged on user and press Logout button. Shutting the system down requires an authorized user to be logged in, otherwise the system will ignore the request. SESAM 7

Handling the Security module Events Table All events are accumulated and viewed in the Event Table; from the time they occurred until the time they are resolved. It is possible to clear the accumulated events after the events are being resolved. Number of events in table can be limited to a maximum number, this way the newest events will get into the beginning of the table and the oldest will get out. An authorized user must be logged-in in order to acknowledge, reset and clear the events on table. The Event Table window is comprised of menu, table, buttons and fields. The main menu Events Table main menu consists of the following option: File Print System Status Report Print Event Table, representing current system status. Test-Mode Setup Opens Test-Mode Setup window to define prefix for objects being tested. See Test-Mode Setup for more information. Tabs are defined by the following format: 0=default 1=FIRE 2=Input 3=Output 4=Failure See Event Types definition instructions for mode details. SESAM 12

Test-Mode Setup Test-Mode form allows defining a period of time in which events of specific desired objects will enter into the Test Mode tab in the Event Table, and not interfere to system real time functioning. This option allows operating the system as well as checking and testing new equipment. Test- Mode should be enabled in the System Settings window. See System Settings chapter. 15 Main Map Displays the overall diagram of the entire site or building. This window can be displayed from any point in the program by pressing the Building icon at the tool bar on top of the screen. Each floor or zone can be represented by a customized button noting its name. Clicking the button will display that picture on top of the main map. Icons representing objects in that floor or zone are displayed. When event(s) occur(s) the corresponding icons will blink at the corresponding site, until these events have been handled and Reset at the Events Table. SESAM 15

Handling an event When an alarm message from the panel to the PC triggers an event, the system locates the event and automatically displays its zone map. The object's icon blinks and an instruction window opens next to this icon. Simultaneously, a siren switches on until acknowledged on Events Table button (or Speaker icon at the tool bar or F9 Key). If several events occur at the same map, all objects blink and some or all windows (depending on setup) display instructions. Only the most urgent instruction windows should be open; close the rest by clicking the instruction header. User should respond to instructions immediately. Simultaneously, the event will be recorded in the Events Table. The actions taken by the user will be recorded in the Events Table and in the History files. Each event is automatically printed out to a printer the moment it occurs. (This option depends on SESAM setup and printer setup). Each icon in the map represents a certain type of event (Panic button, Magnetic sensor, Card reader, etc.). Icons are blinking in two colors - an alarming color and an idle color. When the alarm panel restores the event and the Events Table is acknowledged, the icon blinking will stop and alarming color will remain on, until the event is reset and deleted from the Events Table. Each icon has an instruction window that opens when an event occurs. The window's title denotes abbreviated event name. The instructions are addressed to the user and may be scrolled with the mouse. To close this window, click header where there is no icon underneath. The Icon graphic legend Several additions on the icon graphic illustration indicate different event conditions. A small question mark on Icon indicates that this object is undefined in the system database. A full-size question mark on the icon indicates that the icon bmp file is missing. The Icon's menu Each icon has a menu with several functions. To open the icon menu, click the icon by the right button. To close this menu, click the mouse left button at a location outside the menu area. The Icon's menu provides the following information and options: Displays address of object. Displays object s type. Object description SESAM 16

Disable/Enable Selecting this line will disable the object and the text will change to enable. A red cross on the icon will denote it is disabled. When an object is disabled, any event initiated by this object is not considered an event. The disable operation causes an internal disable event in SESAM that is sent to the Events Table and printed out to the printer. To cancel the disable status, go back to the Icon Menu and click Enable. The Disable Red Cross will disappear. A cancellation message will be sent to the security panel (optional, depends on panel and driver). Enable event will be initiated at the Events Table and printed out to the printer. Disable/Enable functions are followed by typical sounds. To stop it, press Acknowledge. To delete the disable/enable messages from the table, press Reset. The Disable/Enable option is displayed to the user only if authorization level is sufficient. An enabled alarming object will burst-in immediately after being reset. NOTE: Disable/Enable functions can also be carried out from the Disable utility window. SESAM 17

Day/Night Unlike the Disable function, this function temporarily deactivates objects under a timetable. When selecting Night, the object will be on Day mode, meaning that object detects events, but the system does not respond with alarm. NOTE: A blue rectangle surrounds the icon while in Day mode. If you return to the Icon Menu and choose Day, the object will move to Night mode, meaning that the object is active. The blue rectangle disappears. Usually objects will function in Day/Night mode under groups that are managed manually, or by time schedules. Whenever a blue small rectangle appears inside the icon, it means that zone is open. Day and Night event sounds are typical and can be silenced by clicking Acknowledge. These events are deleted from the Events table by Reset, or not shown at all, depending upon setup. Access to Day/Night management requires sufficient authorization level. An Alarming object in Day mode will burst in as an event once shifted to Night mode. Instruction Access-control reader control Selecting this line will open instructions window. Using the reader icon right button menu on a map can open up a door. Select the option Open lock. The Camera Icon's menu The Camera Icon enables to control the camera device. Camera Control Selecting this line will open the camera control menu. (See the buttons functions in Handling the CCTV viewing system section.) Help Cancel If applied, the Help option can provide any kind of additional data per event, such as flow charts, lists of names etc. with Hypertext utilities. Close menu without saving changes Adding Memos to events Memos While handling events, a manual memo per event can be prepared. The user should mark the desired event line and click the Memo button; a Memo window opens, the user can add any freehand text. Date and time are inserted automatically any time the memo is reopened. SESAM 18

Memos are saved to History file with the event, and presented attached to historical reports. Map display during event Each event has priority in the scale of one to ten. When an event map is displayed, and a higher priority event with different map bursts in, the present map will minimize to a window. The higher priority map will be fully displayed on the screen. If an equal or lower level priority event bursts in, the new map will minimize to its window, and the previous event map will continue to be displayed on screen. Main map and zone/floor maps with no events on them will minimize when an event bursts in and takes precedence. Double clicking on the minimized window will fully display the appropriate map. Double clicking on an object 's line in the Events Table will fully display the map of event of that particular line. Open the map s right-click mouse button menu to select one of the following options: Event table Open event table Top most Set map to be top most SESAM 19
