4 Introduction This document summarises the levels of support that IDBS currently provide for its products in different software environments. It also indicates version compatibility between key IDBS products. The IDBS Support policy for its products is defined below. Support information can be found in the Customer Support Charter using the link below. Customer Support Charter Support levels for all product versions are defined as one of the following. Key C S /A TBA Support Level Supported Configuration Certified ot Supported Special Support ot Applicable To be Announced Product Support Lifecycle Description The defined configuration has been fully tested by IDBS as part of the Product Release process. Any reported issue will be processed by IDBS Support, where the IDBS Product is still within the supported timeframe (see Product Lifecycle Support below) The defined web browser has been fully tested by IDBS as part of the Product Release process. For further details relating to specific web browser support please refer to the IDBS Web Browser Support Information statement The defined configuration has not been tested at IDBS and this environment may not even be available for any issue investigation. It will not be possible for IDBS Support to investigate any reported issues using this configuration ot explicitly tested at IDBS, but IDBS Customer Support support and fixes/workarounds will be provided where possible This configuration does not exist e.g Server 64 Bit Support is likely to be provided for this platform in the future, but no date for this has currently been set IDBS are committed to providing support for all active versions of released software, i.e. those on Full and Extended support. Products will however reach the end of their supported lifespan as new versions are released. The standard support policy is to provide Full Support for the superseded version for a minimum period of 2 years. After Full Support expires, the product version will be supported with Extended Support for a further 6 months. Full Support All calls to the IDBS Customer Support will be dealt with, including logging of enhancement requests, and defect fixes that will be considered for the next service release or the next product version, where possible. Extended Support IDBS Customer Support will answer general questions and assist with providing workarounds to problems. o service releases for these versions will be released. Out of Support IDBS Customer Support may no longer have access to this software version and may be unable to assist with any problems or questions. Such issues may be referred to an Account Manager. General Platform Support Platform support details always relate to the latest service release of the IDBS product unless otherwise indicated. 7 Support is for Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate Editions. It cannot be guaranteed that other editions will function as expected. Please note that for ActivityBase, SARgen and XLfit mixed MS Office environments e.g. Office 2003 and 2007 are not supported for the same IDBS product installation. Office 365 support is limited to the use of the Office desktop client and not Office Web Apps. This document will therefore only reference the supported desktop client for this product, Office All IDBS Development and Testing is performed with only a single version of the IDBS software installed. Attempting to use multiple versions at the same time is not supported by IDBS and should any issues be encountered it will be requested that only a single software version is installed. IDBS support the latest service pack unless otherwise stated. Customers are recommended to upgrade to the latest patch set for maximum stability. 5 Citrix/Terminal Server Support Where applicable, Citrix Terminal Server Full Support is limited to the following configurations: For client applications running on 7, 8 and Vista, all development and testing at IDBS is performed when User Account Control (UAC) configured to the lowest setting. If experiencing problems please disable this feature. All IDBS Software Development and Testing is performed using the Groups "Administrators" followed by "Users". This ensures on-admininstrative Users can successfully use IDBS Software. The "Users" group is used as per Microsoft recommendations for running applications. Customer specific User Groups must be validated by the customer and IDBS does not take responsibility for the configuration or testing of these. Oracle otes IDBS support the latest Oracle patch set for each major version unless otherwise stated. Customers are recommended to upgrade to the latest patch set for maximum stability. Standard Edition One, Standard and Enterprise editions of Oracle are supported with the exception of ActivityMart which is only supported on Enterprise Edition. For each Oracle client installation you should ensure that the Oracle LS_LAG parameter matches that of the database. To find out what character set, language, or version of Oracle you are currently using, the following query should be executed in SQL Plus: SELECT A.VALUE FROM LS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS A WHERE A.PARAMETER= LS_UMERIC_CHARACTERS ; This should be compared to the Oracle Client settings. This can be determined by executing the following query in SQL Plus: SELECT A.VALUE FROM LS_SESSIO_PARAMETERS A WHERE A.PARAMETER= LS_UMERIC_CHARACTERS ; The results of both these queries should be the same. The client workstation Regional Settings should match those of the Oracle Client Settings i.e. if the Oracle decimal separator is set as. then this should be the same within the Regional options. Failure to do this can result in numeric data corruption. For ActivityBase chemistry customers, matching the Oracle client language and numeric character settings to the database server are not sufficient; instead the locale should match the database locale to allow numeric chemistry settings to be correctly saved as floating point numbers. For details on Citrix Session Sharing please refer to the following Citrix article: Citrix Knowledge Center Document ID CTX Troubleshooting and Explaining Session Sharing The Result Writing Component (RWC) server for ActivityBase 7.x is not currently supported when run on the same 2003 server as the Citrix Server. 6 Virtualisation Support Software virtualisation, such as VMWare is supported by IDBS according to a standard set of definitions. This includes running emulators such as VM Fusion for Macs. These can be found in the following document: IDBS Virtualisation Support Information Symyx Direct Chemistry Support This is the support policy for IDBS products that make connections to the Symyx Direct chemistry data cartridge. IDBS will support customers who run IDBS products that make connections with Symyx Direct versions 5.1 and above. However, IDBS may not be able to recreate the exact client environment with respect to the Symyx Direct version. Investigation of problems that may, in the sole opinion of IDBS be related to connection to Symyx Direct, will be handled as follows: 1) IDBS will provide standard support to all IDBS products 2) If a problem is encountered, the client may be required to assist IDBS in locating the cause of the issue by recreating and troubleshooting the problem on the client installation 3) If a defect is confirmed and a fix is provided, IDBS may request the client to assist in confirmation of the fix E-WorkBook 10 Load Balancer Support IDBS has tested E-WorkBook against the commercially available load balancer product ginx Plus and has made available a document describing how this product was configured for this testing. However, this does not constitute an endorsement of this or any other third-party load balancing product. For issues suspected of being related to the load balancing technology in place, IDBS will provide support on the basis of reasonable endeavours, but reserves the right to require customers to reconfigure their E- WorkBook deployment to bypass such third-party technology to eliminate or isolate this as the root cause. IDBS expects customers making use of load balancers to have entered into a technical support contract with a suitable third party to obtain assistance with technical issues relating to this technology. IDBS is willing to work with customer-contracted third-parties to resolve issues involving the interaction of E-WorkBook and load-balancing technology. The other documents within MS Office may be captured by E-WorkBook but the inclusion of these documents in Page Previews and within PDFs has not been explicitly tested by IDBS. 2 Whilst the E-WorkBook client is supported on 32 bit, IDBS recommends that customers use 64 bit with the E-WorkBook 64-bit client so that more memory can made available to the application. This will result in better performance and capabilities especially when handling large files. If a 32 bit is used to capture large files customers may experience issues. For ActivityBase Compatibility, "Compound Registration" refers to the ability to register Chemical compounds from E-WorkBook to ActivityBase. "Results" refers to the export of tested data from ActivityBase to E-WorkBook. 8 support refers to 8.1 for all versions, except E-WorkBook which is supported on 8.0 only. 3 E-WorkBook 9.4.x support is limited to ActivityMart and E-WorkBook Please note that catalog inheritence and the Asset Hub are not supported. The Browser Tabs functionality in the Desktop client requires a 32 bit Java JRE (version 6 or 7) to be installed. If working with Office 2007 documents in an environment where Office 2003 is still utilised, the Office 2003 installations must have the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats installed. This is required to ensure that Office 2007 document formats such as.docx and.xlsx can be opened with Office Prism Support shows the versions of the Prism Viewer or Full version used for IDBS Testing. Where the Full version has not been tested, but the Viewer has, IDBS would expect this to function as expected but cannot guarantee this. Please note no testing is performed with the 'etwork license' of Prism and IDBS cannot guarantee the functionality of this installation type. E-WorkBook 9.4 cannot integrate with PKCS#11 hardware tokens on 64-bit. For E-WorkBook 9.2, 9.3, 9.4 and 10.0 upgrades, Oracle or above must be installed to address Oracle defects corrected by Oracle in this release. IDBS Support recommends installing the latest Oracle patchset. Please note Oracle has only been explicitly tested against E-WorkBook and above. "IDBS have observed that performing an out-of-place Oracle upgrade on an E-WorkBook database will encounter Oracle defects related to Oracle text indexing and CDC functionality (CDC in E-WorkBook and below). Therefore IDBS strongly recommend that a new Oracle instance is created at the required Oracle version and the IDBS export-import procedure is used to migrate an E-WorkBook database. This procedure is described in the E-WorkBook Suite Database Export Import Guide; a version for each E-WorkBook release is available on the Customer Support Portal. Testing was carried out using a range of versions between 33 and 50; the table lists the latest release of Chrome that was tested for this version. For further information on Supported and Certified browsers, please refer to the following document: IDBS Web Browser Support Information statement Support for PAPI plug-ins has been desupported from Chrome version 45. See: ID Business Solutions Confidential 18 of 28
19 As the chemistry rendering functionality in the web client (versions 8.1 to 8.4) relies on PAPI, this means editing of chemical structures is no longer possible in Chrome in these versions. 3 Due to a known issue in ActivityBase 8.5, Internet Explorer 10 will not currently return chemical structures from the Marvin JS renderer. See KB for more details. Internet Explorer 10 has been desupported in ActivityBase 9. Support for Firefox refers to the extended support release (ESR) versions only. Java is required for editing chemical structures in the ActivityBase 8.1 to 8.4 web client. ActivityBase 8.1.x supports Java 7 update 67. ActivityBase 8.3.x/8.4.x supports Java 8 update 45. ote that ActivityBase 8.5 and above no longer have requirements on Java to edit chemical structures. The following must be present or checked for each client running ActivityBase: Microsoft Internet Explorer A supported version of Microsoft Office A supported version of the Oracle Client.ET Framework (note: the appropriate version is provided with the installation media): -.ET 4.0 for ActivityBase 8.1.x and above -.ET 4.6 for ActivityBase 9.0.x and above If installing the IDBS Meta Data Administration Console (MAC) it is necessary to install the Oracle provided OLEDB driver on the client workstation. If using the Oracle Data Provider for.et (ODP.et) to connect with IDBS.et applications such as Plate Creator and Reporter with Oracle 10 it is necessary to use those components installed with the provided ODAC exe Prerequisites file. The ODP.et components supplied with Oracle cause connection problems with these tools. Old style ActivityBase Templates e.g. Standard 4.0, HTS 4.0 and UHTS 4.0 are no longer supported. Support for these ceased on the 2nd of April Running the ActivityBase system, client - Fileserver - Application Server - Oracle Database Server, is only supported in a LA (Local Area etwork) environment. IDBS do not support the use of the ActivityBase Suite over a WA (Wide Area etwork).
