2 1. Version Information This release of Intermec Terminal Emulator (ITE) operates on 70 Series, CK3, CK32, CK60, CV30, CN50, CS40, CN3 and CN4 Windows mobile computers. It also runs on the CV30 WinCE and CK60 WinCE computers. Intermec Terminal Emulator is the next generation of Intermec s popular terminal emulation client (previously known as TE 2000) which connects Intermec computers to host applications using 5250, 3270 and VT/ANSI emulation. ITE V1.30 is built on years of industry experience and expertise in TE 2000 and has been tested for optimal performance on the Intermec terminals in emulation environments such as warehouses. ITE supports 4 simultaneous host sessions, security, and complete data collection with Intermec scanning and RFID technologies.. Please reference the ITE Programmer s reference manual for additional information on features and use of ITE. Below is the minimum version of OS, SSPB and IVA that should be used with this version of ITE. Installation Notes To Install ITE You may install ITE onto your Intermec terminal listed above using one of the following methods: SmartSystems Foundation This method is a good option when installing ITE on multiple computers. This option requires a PC running SmartSystems Foundation. You may download a free version of SmartSystems Foundation from Intermec s web site at: - Download ITE from the Intermec downloads site to your PC after you have installed SmartSystems Foundation. ITE will appear in the SmartSystems Console. You may then use any of the supported installation methods including dragging the ITE client and dropping it onto the target computer. For the following methods please download the ITE application from the Intermec downloads web site You will have a SmartSystem bundle which you then need to extract onto your PC. After running the self extracting archive you will have the following folder created on your PC C:\Program Files\Intermec\SmartSystem\ss_lib\software\ITE_ARMV4I_ From this folder you need to copy ITE_CK60_CE_ARMV4I.cab file for the CK60 WinCE ITE_CV30_CE_ARMV4I.cab for the CV30 WinCE ITE_CV30_WM_ARMV4I.cab for the CV30 WM ITE_70Series_ARMV4I.cab for the 70 series computers ITE_Other_WM_ARMV4I For the CN3, CN4, CK32, CN50, CS40, CK60 WM or CK3 computers - SD Card Copy the *.cab files on to the SD Card. Install the SD Card into the Intermec terminal and then run the cab file. - ActiveSync Copy the *.cab files to the root directory of the Intermec terminal. Then run the cab file. - Avalanche create an ava package which contains the *.cab file and then deploy this package to the Intermec terminal. Note: If you put the incorrect cab file on to your computer then the ITE toolbar graphics will not be displayed correctly. ITE_Release_Notes_V Intermec Technologies Page 4 of 11

5 Licensing If ITE was not purchased pre-installed on your Intermec handheld, ITE will require activation to operate with full functionally beyond the evaluation period. If this version of ITE was delivered pre-installed on your Intermec mobile computer, then no activation is required. The ITE V1.30 application has license build date of Sep 14, ITE will run in a Demo mode for 60 days if your device does not contain a proper factory license or activation license. Demo mode allows you to operate the device for 60 days in full feature. After 60 days, the device will move to nag mode. Licenses are available for purchase through your Intermec representative or Intermec Reseller. ITE_Release_Notes_V Intermec Technologies Page 5 of 11

6 3. New Functionality Available in Version 1.30 Updated toolbar The ITE application has been modified to support an 11 (16 for CV30) position grid for the toolbar. The default values are menu settings button, SIP toggle, blank, four position terminal address, Radio Strength, Battery status, two position time. The exit button has been removed from the ITE toolbar by default. The ITE annunciator box values can now be shown in the ITE toolbar. A new option for font resizing has been added. This button can be placed on the ITE toolbar. It is prepopulated with three settings and can be configured for up to five different screen sizes. When the button is pressed it will select the next available screen size that has been defined. Older ITE versions will automatically have their toolbar converted to the new format. When doing this though you may want to resize the toolbar options since sizing is different for the ITE V1.30 and different buttons are present. Intermec Settings The ITE application has been modified to launch Intermec Settings to the root of Intermec Settings. This can be done with ITE in lockdown or non lockdown mode. The ITE application has been modified to password protect access to the Intermec Settings. You can also provision the Intermec handheld computer with a password to protect access to Intermec Settings. ITE_Release_Notes_V Intermec Technologies Page 6 of 11

7 Open SSH support The ITE application has moved from our proprietary implementation of SSH to instead use the OpenSSH 2 V5.3. This allows the ITE application to use one of the following encryption algorithms AES, 3DES, Cast, Blowfish or Arcfour. One of the following message authentication codes SHA-1, MD5, UMAC or RIPEMD. As well as one of the Key Exchange Algorithms DH-Group-Exchange-SHA1, DH- Group-ExchangeSHA256, DH-Group1-SHA1, DH-Group14-SHA1. SSL session persistence The ITE application when used with the SPS V1.30 will allow an SSL connection from end to end. This connection will now also persist through roams and host inactivity timeouts. Support for Bluetooth pairing The ITE user can add a shortcut to the Bluetooth printer pairing application from the menu settings button. The ITE user can add a shortcut to the Bluetooth scanner pairing application from the menu settings button. Note that using one of these shortcuts will allow the user to gain access to the operating system of the device thus making ITE no longer a lock down application. Trusted application support The ITE user can now provide a path to an executable which ITE will then add to its white list as a trusted application. When this application attempts to come to the foreground ITE will allow this application to take over control of the display and other peripherals of the computer. Note that in order for ITE to continue to be a lock down application the trusted application must also be a lock down application otherwise the user will be allowed to gain access to the OS. 8 WWAN radio support The Intermec handheld user can configure the device to use a WWAN radio by entering the username and APN code to authenticate to the carrier. If the WWAN radio is configured prior to ITE starting then the ITE application will use this connection for all of its communications The ITE application will not support automatically changing from WWAN radio connection to a WLAN radio connection and maintain the session. The ITE application also will not maintain the session if the WWAN connection roams from one tower to another tower and the IP address of the Intermec handheld computer changes. The current radio connection will be depicted on the ITE toolbar by the signal indicator. 4. Issues Fixed in this Version Display On the CV30 Windows Mobile OS the magnifier button was allowed and when it was pressed the title bar would be displayed on the top line of the display when ITE was running in a lockdown mode. The magnifier button is no longer allowed when ITE is running in lock down mode. CPR If ITE is displaying double byte characters we no longer require the trailing shift out character to rest the double byte mode. When the set buffer address order is received this will act as a terminator for the double byte mode when using 5250 emulation. The user is now allowed to set a NULL toolbar thus allowing there host screen to be displayed using the entire Intermec handhelds screen. Initialization Issues The restored defaults and the installed defaults differed. They are now the same. Upgrading the ITE application from a 1.01 or 1.11 build incorrectly was leaving the TECCK3_R.EXE application in the ITE folder. 9 When uninstalling the ITE application after it makes a host connection the file which keeps track of what port the connection was established on ite_session_x_port.dat was being left behind in the ITE folder and the ITE folder then would be left behind. CPR ITE does not install a shortcut to the program files folder on a CN50 when the CN50 is provisioned as a non-english device. Keyboards CPR The function keys on the CN70 computer were failing to be recognized by the ITE application because ITE failed to set the keyboard event saying that we were running on CN70 computers. Extended commands CPR The #A RFID set attributes command would incorrectly change the tag delimiter and tag terminator values when these fields where set to blanks rather than maintaining their current value. CPR Issue where the parity of the #F and #G commands was not getting set correctly when the parity was anything other than none when the print device was set to RS232. CPR the VT220 media copy command was truncating the data sent by one character for each and every escape character that was found in the media copy command. Snapshot CPR on the 70 series computer the ITE application was looking at the incorrect offset of the configuration string to determine if a camera was installed on the device. If a camera was installed and the ITE user attempted to launch the snapshot application they would get a fatal exception. ITE_Release_Notes_V Intermec Technologies Page 9 of 11

10 5. Known Issues SSH If the user attempts to make an SSH connection and that connection fails for several hours (3-4) then the ITE toolbar will fail to be displayed or start to flicker. Also a scanner error can get displayed. SSH key authentication fails. The user is required to make an SSH connection using password authentication. SSL If the user places certificates in the ITE/certs directory and then upgrades the ITE application the certificates will not persist through the upgrade and the user will be required to re-install the certificates. If the certificates are installed in the Windows certificate store they will persist. UDP+ Host fallback option does not work. Display Occasionally when starting the ITE application it has been seen where the SIP was not being shown and toggling the SIP with the S button would resize the screen, but failed to display the SIP. If this happens the work around is to exit the ITE application and restart it. When exiting the ITE menus without changing any configuration value on a non- English OS the user is presented with the prompt to save parms incorrectly. SIP and Keyboards On 70 series, CK3, CV30, CK32 and CK61 terminals hitting the control 1-5 keys does not send data to the host. The work around is to use the SIP to send these control values to the host. On a CV30 terminal using the ikey keyboards the view port keys work like paging keys. On a CV30 terminal using the ikey keyboards the paging keys do not work at all. On a CV30 terminal using the ikey keyboards the field exit key does not work. Scanning The encode barcodes for Next screen, control X and Control 5 no longer work. When parmsbysession is enabled and you scan a computer identics 2 of 5 barcode then an = character is added to the beginning of the barcode as the barcode type character. The actual value is suppose to be a Z character and the = is suppose to be for a straight 2 of 5 barcode. When parmsbysession enabled EAN13 barcodes will not decode. 11 The scanner fails to read data in to windows dialog boxes. Snap Shot If ITE is running in non lockdown mode and you start the snapshot application then functions like volume up and volume down are not useable. Once you close the snapshot application these features are once again usable. If you enter an image text which is greater then 20 characters then the string overwrites itself instead of wrapping the text or bringing up a new line. When running the snapshot application and you attempt to select the file you want to ftp up you will notice that the entire file name is not being displayed. Since the file names all start with the serial number of the device it is hard to distinguish which one is which. On a Japanese OS the default folder my documents\my pictures is not empty. If you then select to ftp all files these default images will be sent to your ftp site. On a CN4 terminal if you open up the snapshot parameters configuration tree then all of the entries will be duplicated except for the first and last entries. When the snapshot application is launched on a CN4 terminal with an EA11 intermittently it will generate an error. When the snapshot application is launched on a CN4 terminal with an EA21 the image stream is duplicated on the screen. The Snapshot application does not run on a CN3 terminal with a double byte OS. RPC Windows dialog boxes are not sent from the ITE application to the attached client. If an attached client severs its ties to the ITE application rather then closing its connection, then performance of the ITE application will be vastly affected (approximately five second delays for all ensuing screen updates). If you use SendKeys function then all data will be sent to the ITE application as uppercase characters. There is no method to send lowercase characters. Installation If you are upgrading from the TE2000 version 8.28 or earlier and you attempt to upgrade to the ITE application while the TE2000 is currently running on the device the installation will appear to work correctly, but after the terminal is warm booted the ITE application will fail to launch and instead report that it has a bad or missing component. The work around for this is to exit the TE2000 application before you attempt to upgrade it to the newer ITE application. The ITE shortcut is not removed from the program files folder on a non-english OS. When using the SmartSystems console to create an SD Card for the ITE application it will fail.
