5 2 Overview This guide describes the configuration procedures required for the UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel to be interoperable with ShoreTel. This guide describes the specific configuration items that are important for use with ShoreTel. It does not describe the purpose and use of all configuration items on the UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel. NOTE: The UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel can operate in two modes: Deskphone (CTI) mode or Softphone mode. You can configure the Lync AddOn in the following modes: 2.1 Prerequisites 2.2 Limitations deskphone only (IP 265, IP 485G, IP 655) softphone only deskphone and softphone mode. Before installing and configuring the UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel, please make sure you have a fully installed and functional ShoreTel System (ShoreTel Voice Switches, ShoreTel phones), as well as a Link Server in place. The application has been tested with IP 265, IP 485G and IP 655 deskpohones. The UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel works with ShoreTel PBX systems that are running on dedicated physical hardware or in a virtualized environments. The UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel does only support Virtualized Desktop Environments such as Citrix or VMWare are only supported in Deskphone (CTI) mode. The softphone mode is not supported in a virtualized environment! The max. recommended number of Users on a ShoreTel Webservices SDK Server is 400. If there are more than 400 users, additional Webservices SDK Servers can be installed and configured UCATL LTD. PAGE 5 OF 28

7 ShoreTel Configuration 2.4 ShoreTel Web services Configuration Steps The UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel requires for CTI support (Deskphone) the ShoreTel WebSDK installed on a ShoreTel DVS Server Prerequisites ShoreTel HQ and DVS Windows 2008 server depending on your deployment scenario. NET framework 3.5 SP1 Download the redistributable dotnetfx35.exe from DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en#Instructions And install it on the ShoreTel HQ/DVM server. When installing the.net framework 3.5 SP1, you can choose the option to not require a server restart by running the executable as dotnetfx35.exe /q /norestart 2015 UCATL LTD. PAGE 7 OF 28

8 2.4.2 Installation and Configuration Download Installer Download the ShoreTel Web Services SDK install package from; and unzip it to a temp. directory Run Installer Run the setup.exe from the folder where you have unzipped the Web Service SDK install package and follow the installation wizard to install the SDK service in a folder of your choice: Note: If the pre requisite.net framework 3.5 SP1 is not installed when running the install, setup will automatically try to download and install it from the internet UCATL LTD. 9 Configure Host IP Address Open the ShoreTelWebSDKWCFWindowsService.exe.config in the Web service SDK installation folder with windows notepad editor: 2015 UCATL LTD. PAGE 9 OF 28

10 Change IP address in the baseaddress configuration key to the IP address of the host machine: and save the file UCATL LTD. PAGE 10 OF 28

11 Start SDK Service Go to Windows Services Control Panel and you would see a service called ShoreTel Web SDK Service. Start the service Changing Service Startup options: Change the Startup Type from Manual2 to Automatic with right Mouse Click on the service and selecting Properties. After system reboot, the service will be started automatically without user intervention UCATL LTD. PAGE 11 OF 28

12 Verify Successful Startup When service is started a log file ShoreTelWebSDKService.log is created in the SDK installation folder: Open the created log file and watch for any errors. The URL of WSDL is according to the base address specified in the web service s configuration. So, if the base address of web service is specified as , the SDK s WSDL URL will be Check if that URL could be browsed. If 2015 UCATL LTD. PAGE 12 OF 28

14 2.2 ShoreTel SIP End device Configuration The UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel requires a 3 rd party SIP Extension configured on the ShoreTel PBX for softphone support. Please consult the ShoreTel System Administration for how to configure a 3 rd party SIP Extension on the ShoreTel PBX. 15 3 UCA Lync AddOn Installation and Configuration 3.1 UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel installation Please check out UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel - Software installation video instruction on YouTube: UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel Configuration There is a video instruction UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel configuration available on YouTube: The configuration of the Plugin is done via the plugin settings graphical user interface (GUI) that can be launched from the drop-down menu, which is available from the plugin icon in the Windows taskbar. 16 3.2.1 System Level Configuration (General Tab) This section describes system-wide configuration items that are generally required for each Plugin to work with ShoreTel. Figure 2 System Level Configuration Configuration Parameters Language Run when Windows starts Disable Message Center Description Select the language in the drop-down list and restart your UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel application. Check this option to automatically launch the plugin when Windows starts. Check this option to disable message center UCATL LTD. PAGE 16 OF 28

17 3.2.2 Lync Search Rules Lync Search Rules are used to reformat dialed phone numbers before a search for Lync Users is made. These rules are only applied on incoming calls and only used for the Lync User Search function. E164 number rules (PSTN calls / dialing) This setting can be used to reformat international / long distance dialing / calls to E164 numbers. Example: A Signalled International phone number is: will be reformatted to E164 for Lync search to A Signalled long distance phone number is: will be reformatted to E164 for Lync search to Internal number rules (extension calls / dialing) This setting can be used to reformat signalled extensions to E164 Formatted numbers: Example: Signalled extension: 1203 will be reformatted to E164 for Lync search to Signalled extension: 2203 will not be reformatted because it starts with a 2 Country Formatter Rules This setting can be used to insert "Blanks" / "Spaces" into phone numbers. Some AD / Lync installation cannot find phone numbers without having them formatted in the same way as they have been entered in the Active directory. This can happen in installations where the AD is fed from other systems. Example: Signalled number: would be reformatted in above example to " " 2015 UCATL LTD. PAGE 17 OF 28

19 IMPORTANT: NULL values in the provisioning tags of the XML file are not allowed. This would result in errors/provisioning problems. 21 3.2.4 Call Log Configuration The UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel configured in Deskphone mode uses the ShoreTel Call Log Database to display the users call record information (CDR). NOTE: This configuration is used for accessing the ShoreTel Call Log database. When no configurations are done, then the call log function in deskphone mode will be disabled. 22 3.2.5 Directory Configuration The UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel configured in Deskphone mode uses the ShoreTel Directory the show / search for ShoreTel users. NOTE: This configuration is used for accessing the ShoreTel configuration database where the ShoreTel user information is stored. When no configurations are done the directory function in deskphone mode will be disabled. 23 3.2.6 Softphone Mode Extension Configuration (Softphone Tab) This section identifies the device-specific parameters, including registration and authentication. These settings must be unique across devices to match the settings for a ShoreTel SIP extension. Specify your ShoreTel Client Username as defined in ShoreTel Director -> Users section. Specify your SIP Password as defined in ShoreTel Director -> Users section. Specify your phone number or SIP identifier Specify the IP address or FQDN of the SIP Proxy as defined in the ShoreTel Director -> Site section. Specify the SIP domain. When leaving it empty, the Registrar address will be used for the Domain Specify the Outbound Proxy or session border controller (SBC) address. 28 3.3 Hardware and Operating System Requirements NOTE: For detailed hardware and operating system requirements, use the following links: Lync 2013: Hardware Requirements (Minimum) The minimum hardware requirements are as follows: Intel Pentium 4, 2 GHz RAM: 2GB (minimum) Disk space: 50 MB (minimum) HD Video in Softphone mode requires a minimum of Intel i5 processor, 2 GHz and 2 GB RAM Software Requirements The software requirements are as follows: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (all editions, 32-bit or 64-bit) Windows 8 Microsoft.NET Framework 4.5 or (See NOTE) Plugin can run in a Terminal Server environment (CTI mode only) Windows Terminal Server 2003 (or higher) is supported Citrix is supported 2015 UCATL LTD. 29 NOTE: Microsoft.NET Framework 4.5 or is required to address issues with clustered server connections. There is no dependency check made during installation of the UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel. Microsoft.NET Framework is available from Microsoft at the following link: Supported Microsoft Lync Clients Lync Clients Version 32-bit 64-bit Lync 2013 Standard X X Lync 2013 Basic X X NOTES 1. Only one version of Lync can be installed. It is not recommended to have two or more versions of Lync installed on the same PC. 2. In version 3.1 and higher of the UCA Lync AddOn for ShoreTel, it is possible to launch and use the plugin in standalone mode (that is, without the Lync client running). Usage of the plugin in standalone mode is provided as is. 3. The user must exit the plugin to disable its functionality (that is, it is not sufficient to exit only the Lync client) UCATL LTD.
