3 Documentation Explanation: The operating system we use in the example of this Documentation is Windows 10 Pro. (The installing process of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise Edition is similar to that of Windows 10 Pro.) The Video card is GTX960 of desktop computer and the driver version of the Video card is (The installing process for AMD card users is similar to this one.) Antivirus software (360 Total Security) is installed in the computer. Attention: during installation, some antivirus software would alarm mistakenly. Please close down antivirus software before installing PiPlay.) Instruction for Installing Environment Before you install: Requirements for PC At present, both desktop computer and laptop are supported. If the player s computer is installed with multi-monitor, we recommend the player to use only one display device while using VR. Graphics Card Driver Requirements NVIDIAcard means the graphics cards that using NVIDIA graphics chip NVIDIA's family includes GeForce (GTX) series, GeForce FX (GT) series, etc. AMD card, in the early stage, means the graphics cards that using ATI 3

4 graphics chips. After ATI was purchased by AMD, now AMD card was named AMD graphics card. AMD s family includes Radium series and X series. NVINIA card Users: Graphics Card Driver Requirements: or above. The newest version of graphics card driver is recommended. AMD card Users: Graphics Card Driver Requirements: or above. The newest version of graphics card driver is recommended. System Requirements Windows 7 SP1 and 64 bit operating system are supported. And 32 bit operating system is not supported. Recommended Configuration OS:Win7/8/10 Operating System: Windows 7 SP1/8/10 RAM: 4GB or more CPU: Intel Core i or AMD FX 8350, equivalent or better Output: HDMI1.4B, USB2.0/3.0 Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or AMD R9 290, equivalent or better Download Instructions 1. 5 2. Click PiPlay, then click Official Download or others Download. 3. Save PiSetup Zip to local storage, after extracting its contents, the installation package of PiPlay would show up. 5

6 PiPlay Installation Instruction This software now is able to support Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64 bit) operating system. Please check your computer before installation. PiPlay installation package (Closing down antivirus software before installation is recommended.) 1 If 1.X version of PiPlay has already been installed, the Setup would remind you to uninstall this old version. After uninstallation, PiPlay could be installed. 2 Click the installation package (PiPlay_Setup_2.0) and start installing PiPlay. 3 Select installation language, agree to Pimax USER LICENSE AGREEMENT AND TERMS OF USE, finally click Install. 4 PC compatibility Check(If the computer s performance is not good enough, large games might be unable to run normally), then click Continue ;. 6

9 7 PiPlay installation is complete. Attention: During the process of installation, if antivirus software was not all closed down, some contents of PiPlay would be isolated and the device might not be searched. Then, just close down all the antivirus software and restart installation. User Interface Specification The Modification Description of PiPlay2 Comparing with PiPlay1. 1 PiPlay mainly has 4 modules Game, Video, My Resources, Settings. Users could play games, download films or Video s and import or manage local resources. Return, Minimize and Close buttons 9

10 are at the top right corner. And at the lower right corner, Device Connection and Settings are placed there for users adjusting settings according to their own conditions. 2 The list of games (or movies) is shown below 10

11 3 Users could search games (or movies) according to the keyword such as names or tags. At the same time, users could also use classification screening. 11

12 4 On the interface of games (or movies), by clicking Game button, you can go back to the homepage of that game (or movie). 5 To return, just click the return button at the top right corner. 6 On the detailed information page of games (or movies), the requirements of computer configuration can be seen. 12

13 7 In My Resources, the input local resources can be unfolded directly;the games or movies that are input locally or downloaded from PiPlay can all be found in My Resources -- Games(or Movies) ; The download progress can be seen in the download list;the number of downloading contents is shown in the top right corner of My Resources 13

17 Connection Instruction Connection between the VR of PiPlay 4K and the computer 11 When you firstly enter the main interface of PiPlay, the device is not connected yet, therefore, the condition is Connection. Then, click Device 12 Click to see how to connect. 17

18 13 Connect the HDMI and USB cables of PiPlay 4K VR with the discrete graphics card s ports of HDMI and USB in the computer. PiPlay would identify automatically and connect them, then the device condition would change into. 18

19 Attention: Computer monitor should also be connected to the discrete graphics card, so that the computer could deliver its best performance. How to Master PiPlay 4K VR How to use PiPlay to run local games and Video s The modes that PiPlay supports: 1 Pi Players Mode Games and panoramic Video s Games: PiPlay platform games, Steam platform games, OC home platform games, DK1 and DK2 games Video s: normal 2D or 3D Video s, panoramic Video s 2 Video Mode 19

20 Normal 2D or 3D Video s run by Kodi player are supported. How to open local Video s and games with PiPlay 1 Click Input Locally button in the interface of My Resources 2 Choose the file path where the contents of Video s and games are located 3 Click to open, then, the Video or game will be running automatically. Instructions for PiPlay built-in player Pi Player Mode s Built-in Player: AutoplayVR supports 2D, 3D and Panoramic Video s. This player has the advantages of ultimate privacy, simply operation, excellent display functions. Therefore, it has certain requirements to hardware configurations. At present, only English version is available. The picture below has simple descriptions for buttons: Movie Format Setting; Privacy Setting(Synchronize desktop or not);screen Size Setting;Play/Pause;Center Point Correction;Progress Bar;Volume Setting 20

21 Merits: Exclusive private mode, simple operation, automatically recording viewing format,multi-format compatible Demerits:unable to load subtitles automatically,has certain requirements to graphics cards, insufficient graphics card may impact the fluency of Video. Video Mode s Built-in Player: Kodi_pimax player supports 2D, 3D and Panoramic Video s. This player is specialized for PiPlay 4K VR with features like simple operation, strong functions, excellent screen and low requirements for configurations. Customers could download live streaming plug-ins online. This player in the future would continuously update. If customers enjoy appreciating movies with high definition and experiencing cinema-level impact, this player is indispensable. Merits: Chinese available, simple operation, exclusively made for PiPlay 4K VR, terrific performance, VSFilter, activate the screen to watch immediately, multi-format supported. Demerits: incompatible with panoramic Video s. 21

22 Instructions for Kodi 1 When you open up 2D/3D movies in PiPlay, switch to Video mode. If you stay in Pi Player Mode and click to play, Kodi would remind you to switch to Video mode. 2 Put on PiPlay 4K VR helmetand then the screen would appear. 3 Kodi Shortcut keys: F1: Switch the screen between PiPlay and the computer desktop. F2: Switch 3D format (Left and Right/ Up and Down/ Automatic) F3:Screen Zooming F4: Screen downward F5: Screen upward Ctrl+t :Switch the location of subtitles ( If switch to fixation, customers could adjust the location of subtitles manually.) Ctrl+ :subtitles upward ( Only available under the condition of fixation ) Ctrl+ :subtitles downward (Only available under the condition of fixation ) Remarks: 3D formats have left/right format and up/down format. If the format or the screen image is not right, please click the 3D button directly or press F2 to switch. ( The software would switch back and forth among Left/Right format, Up/Down format and automatic format.) 22

23 Therefore, customers do not have to learn about the movies format issues. If the image is not good, just Click 3D button or press F2 until the image is satisfying. 4 Basic Interface for Kodi: The interface has 5 small icons. The first button, VR, is the one that could switch the on-going movie to the helmet of PiPlay 4K VR. The second icon is for media messages. The third icon is for creating bookmark. The forth one is for subtitles. The fifth one is settings (including Video and audio). 5 How to input local Video s Double click KODI, then the interface below would show up. 23

24 Click Video s Files Adding Video Browse the folder where the local resources are located Confirm Click Video s at the top left corner and return to main interface Click Video s Click Files The Video s or films that you add would appear. How to use PiPlay to play Steam platform games: What is Steam? Steam could be understood as a game platform integrating numerous VR games, either chargeable or free. 1 Visit the website and download Steam 2 Sign up 3 Open up Steam, click Repository Tools, find SteamVR and start installing. 4 Finish installation, open up SteamVR. 5 Switch PiPlay into Pi Player Mode. 6 Enter SteamVR, click SteamVR at top left corner in the interface Operating room setup. 7 Enter Steam, choose Game Selection Bar Visual Reality, choose 24

How to use PiPlay to play Oculus platform games 1 Visit the website and download Oculus Home 2 Install OC home and sign up. 3 Download games ( When downloading games from OC home platform, the computer should connect VPN. The downloading process is cumbersome and requires highly towards graphics cards.) 4 Switch PiPlay into Pi Player Mode. 5 Restart OC home. 6 Open up PiPlay and click Local Resources, PiPlay would automatically detect the downloaded oculus games. PiPlay FAQ FAQ in use The Condition of being connected successfully Blue light in the helmet. Interface of connection shows like below 25

26 Problem 1 Plugged-in helmet reminding that the USB and/or HDMI are/is not connected. Reason the signals of USB or HDMI are not detected or being unable to switch the screen. Resolution 1. Check whether HDMI and USB are both connected to the computer at the same time or not. 2. Check whether HDMI is connected with the discrete graphics card of the computer and the computer monitor is connected with the same discrete graphics card or not. (If there is only one HDMI port, then the monitor could be connected to DP or DVI ports. Desktop computer should make sure the integrated graphics card not working and not connected to any other devices.) 3. Check whether the computer graphics card drivers are missing or not. If so, download new graphics card driver from the website of nvidia Corporation or ADM. 4. Check whether Task Manager Service PiserviceLauncher is running or not. If necessary, customer could restart this service. 26

27 5. Check whether USB driver is running normally or not and whether there are uninstalled drivers in the Task Manager or not. 6. Check whether the OC driver has already been installed or not. If so, uninstall the OC runtime and plug in Pi USB again to see whether the connection is successful or not. 7. Restart the computer to check Problem 2 USB and HDMI are shown connected, while playing games or watching films, it shows unconnected Resolution: 1. Plug in the helmetagain 2. PiPlay Restart PiPlay 3. Restart the computer Problem 3 The lights on helmet are flashing Reason The DFU update driver is not normally installed or lack of Microsoft runtime library. Resolution: 1. Install the newest USB driver (STMMicroelectronices DFU device drive) would do, using Driver Genius. After installation, close PiPlay and open it again. 2. Please use Microsoft GoRuntime library to restore. After restoration, close PiPlay and open it again. GoRuntime download address: Problem 4 The earphone of helmetdoes not work. Reason The Audio driver of graphics card did not recognize PiPlay earphone as 27

28 the default device successfully. Resolution 1. Right click the Sound icon at the lower right corner and open up Broadcast Equipment 2. Set PIMAX P1 earphone as the default device. 3. If the sound part of graphics card driver is not installed, please update and install a complete graphics card driver. 4. In the BIOS of some customers, the Audio Option is closed. If the resolution methods mentioned above do not work, please check whether the Audio Option is closed down or not, if so, open it again. Problem 5 Why I cannot run some games or why some games always Reason 1. Some games only support Windows 7 and Windows 8 (mostly are extended mode games) and some games only support Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (such as Virtual Desktop). 2. Lack of the corresponding JAVE or DX tools. Resolution 1. If it is because the games are not compatible with the system, for now, there is no method to change the situation. 2. Install frequently-uesd 3D JAVE and DX tools to restore. Install DX11. Download address: Problem 6 PiPlay do not search the device Reason 28

29 1. The HDMI head of PiPlay is not connected with the HDMI port of discrete graphics card or not plugged in well. 2. Having installed several JAVA programme. 3. Microsoft common runtime library and DirectX restoring tools are not installed to restore. 4. The version of graphics card driver is too old. 5. Files in the multi-system environment or PiPlay are deleted by antivirus software mistakenly. 6. The system permission of PiPlay is to low. 7. If all the methods mentioned above do not work, then maybe there are some running components missing in the computer system. Resolution: 1. Check whether the USB and HDMI of helmet are both connected to the computer at the same time or not. The HDMI cable have to be connected with HDMI port of discrete graphics card. If you have HDMI extended cable or transfer cable, please do not use them to connect with the HDMI port of discrete graphics card. When connecting HDMI with the graphics card, do not push too hard. Check whether both the HDMI cable and monitor are connected with the discrete graphics card or not. (If there is only one HDMI port on the discrete graphics card, the monitor could be connected to the ports of DP or DVI. For desktop computers, please make sure that the integrated graphics card is not working or connected to any other devices.) 2. Check whether Microsoft common runtime library and DirectX restore tools are already installed and restored or not. 3. Please visit the official website to download the newest version of graphics card driver. 4. PiPlay Please close down all the antivirus software and install PiPlay again. 29

30 5. Please use the administrator privilege to install PiPlay again. 6. Restoring or reinstalling the computer system is recommended. 30
