2 INSTALLATION PRE-REQUISITES Before you deploy, ensure you have: A client (Windows 7+x64) that has access to the internet & the virtual infrastructure Virtual Infrastructure VMware vsphere 5.5/6.0 host and VMware vcenter (5.5+) Minimum host hardware requirements 32 GB of RAM* 200 GB Storage Capacity CPU 2.0Ghz+ 4 cores 2 static IP addresses available (USX Manage and Volume VM) Set the Host to High Performance mode Permissions to create Virtual Machines and Datastores on the host No distributed virtual switches *) small storage volume requires 32GB of RAM

5 REFERENCE CLIENT MACHINE Windows10x64 version used

6 SET POWERSHELL EXECUTION POLICY Run PowerShell as Administrator; Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned Prepare

7 DOWNLOAD, UNBLOCK, EXTRACT - POWERCLI All versions of PowerCLI are backwards compatible. Download latest version. Prepare

8 VMWARE REMOTE CONSOLE - POWERCLI INSTALLATION Run PowerCLI with Admin privileges, Install, Next, Install, Finish Prepare

10 POWERCLI INSTALLATION Deselect vcloud Air and vsphere Update Manager, Finish installation Reboot Client machine Prepare

11 POWERCLI VERIFICATION To verify module installation, start PS: Get-Module -ListAvailable VMware.VimAutomation.Cis.Core Check the module is functioning correctly by entering the following: Import-Module VMware.VimAutomation.Core Get-Command -Module VMware.VimAutomation.Core Prepare

12 POWERCLI VERIFICATION If you only have the Snap-in available to you, you can check its functionality: Add-PSSnapin -Name VMware.VimAutomation.Core Get-PowerCLIVersion If both Snap-in and module are present, the CE installer will use the module. Prepare

39 LOGIN CITRIX DIRECTOR The first time you log into the Citrix Director GUI, first open an additional tab and log into the USX Manager GUI. This allows the USX Manager to accept the self-signed certificate and populate the Director dashboard. Any time you log into the Citrix Director GUI, verify that your browser is able to view mixed HTTPS and HTTP content. Deployment

45 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Can a user delete the hybrid volume and deploy a different volume type? Yes, the hybrid volume is deployed by the installer, however after installation, a user can delete the volume and deploy a simple in-memory or simple all-flash volume as required. Or even deploy multiple volumes of smaller sizes. How will the Community Edition be delivered? Digitally-signed executable downloadable after registration on the Community Portal. Separate installer for Citrix XenServer and VMware vsphere. Where can I find support? Support is via community and community forum: Community-Edition.aspx

46 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Does the Community Edition support VMware VVOLs? Yes! Can I mount the storage to other hosts or machines? Yes, you can use NFS or iscsi. Are there any technical restrictions to USX CE? You can everything that USX can do, however there is a 100GB license restriction enforced by EULA.
