1 nvision Custom Report Writer 1. Select the table from the selection and click design (607) Page 1

6 12. Select Style, then click Next 13. Enter the title of the report and click Finish (607) Page 6

7 14. You will be in the Designer Mode as shown below. 15. To view the report as is click Preview at the bottom of the screen (607) Page 7

8 Tips on Formatting and Tweaking your report 1. Date formatting a. Left click on the field within the detail area b. Left click on the arrow above the field and the label tasks will appear. Click Here c. Click on the category and then select the standard type and click OK (607) Page 8

9 2. Adding a Summary to a field a. Left click on the field within the detail area b. Left click on the arrow above the field and the label tasks will appear. Click Here c. Select the summary function and summary running options and click OK financialservices@btboces.org (607) Page 9

10 3. Adding Fields to the report a. Click Here b. You will see the following appear at the bottom right hand corner of your screen (607) Page 10

11 c. Click the Field list d. Just drag and drop the field into the detail section of your report 4. Adding Parameters a. Go to the Field list (see adding field step 3a-3b) and right click on parameters and select Add parameter. b. Right click on the new parameter and select edit parameters c. Type in the (Name) d. Select the dropdown to select the parameter type e. If you want the parameter visible keep this as Yes f. Click ok (607) Page 11

12 g. Click on partial arrow as show below h. Click on filter string field lookup (607) Page 12

13 i. Add the field name. (The first field within the table will prefill. Left click the field name to see the additional fields.) j. Select the appropriate selection in green. (left click to see additional options.) k. Click the pencil to find the parameter you just created. The parameter will populate. l. Click here to change to the blue? Then click OK m. When the report is previewed the parameter will display as follows; n. Enter the date and click submit and your report will display. 5. Adding a Calculated Field a. Right click on the field name found under the field list b. Add calculated field financialservices@btboces.org (607) Page 13

14 c. Right click on the new record that will appear and click Edit calculated fields d. Enter the (Name) of the calculated field and click OK (make sure the name has no spaces) e. Right click on the calculated field again and select Edit Expression (607) Page 14

15 f. Click on Fields and then double click on the first field you want to calculate. g. Then select the mathematical function h. Double Click the second field you want to calculate. i. Click OK j. Drag the field into the Detail of the report k. Left click on the field and click the partial arrow to open the Label Tasks window. (607) Page 15
